  1. Did any of you stop to consider that maybe he just isn't that good?
  2. Cuban became a billionaire by making wise business decisions. That isn't going to change if he buys the Cubs. He is a numbers man, and I think what you would see is an extreme "Moneyball" team in the $80M range, not buying the high-priced goofs like Carlos Lee and pushing payroll to 130.
  3. Dave Chappelle >>>>>> Juan Pierre
  4. That's what I thought right after finding out the thread wasn't about Philip.
  5. Forget the Freddie Bynum part, darn you Dempster!!!
  6. If he had to answer questions every time there was speculation about this or that, he'd never have time to play ball. Should he have to poke his head out of the woodwork when every random website mentions his name? Your vendetta is tired.
  7. Cubs win, 6-4. Fast Freddie Bynum comes through again!
  8. Say wha??? Link Um, Dusty, do you realize a leadoff hitter only has value as a leadoff hitter if he can actually get on base?
  9. What are they saying, is it just to get him some rest and call someone up?
  10. I believe it's actually Arizona, not ASU. And the Cubs have offered him $500,000. But he's a Padres fan. Eww...
  11. Just in case anyone missed it.
  12. Where are they in the order? Is he coming up soon?
  13. That sure is a lot to give up for someone who has not done anything in the majors and really hasn't been overwhelmingly impressive in the minors yet, isn't it? He's put up good numbers, but a package of Maddux, Williamson, and Hill better bring more than just Joel Guzman.
  14. And the winner of "the ugliest baseball lineup ever constructed award" goes to...
  15. I'll say Pujols shocked him, Gagne slightly shocked him, and Sosa wasn't a surprise. You really think anyone would be "shocked" by Pujols? Or am I that jaded on this subject? I could see more people than not saying he was the one that came as no surprise.
  16. That made me laugh out loud. I'm sorry. Stop laughing, soon-to-be-Cubs-fan.
  17. Juan Pierre, Albert Pujols, Rafael Palmeiro There will never be any evidence of performance enhancing on the part of Juan. He would have to have performance first. Well, if one "shocked him", it would almost have to be a player of that caliber. Unless Dan Patrick is more naive than any of us thought.
  18. Oh well, all we really did was throw away our 1998 1st round pick. Just like we did in 94, 96, 97, 99, 2000 (maybe), 2002 (thrice), 2003...
  19. The sale of a big market team like the Cubs will likely drive up values of all baseball franchises. I don't see why owners would stand in the way of a sale unless it was to the owner of another existing MLB team.
  20. Doesn't he realize this is a contract season?
  21. Can we turn Aardsma back into a starter for the rest of this season?
  22. He denied involvement, that should be no surprise. Palmeiro told all of America he had never used steriods. Period. We all know how his story ended.
  23. It depends on your definition of "possibly". With the right deal, we are possibly trading for ARod and Tejada and Abreu and Cabrera. That said, I seriously doubt that happens. Carlos Lee is more likely. He is overrated, we will overpay, and he will suck when he gets here.
  24. Huh? His ERA was 5.14 in 28 innings after the trade. That's an ERA+ of 86. And you think the Cubs wouldn't have made the playoffs without him? To the contrary, it's more likely that they would have won the wild card without need for a one game playoff. Oh snap, I missed that post. Karchner was HORRIBLE with a capital HORR as a member of the Cubs. They might as well have brought Jeff Pico out of "retirement". Felix Heredia was better than Karchner. Enough said.
