  1. Not if you can somehow acquire an OPS machine to take his place, not necessarily from the Yanks. We can still afford to be buyers as long as the deal is right. This season may be over, but it's never to early to build for next.
  2. I liked the Boise uniform look until I saw that cheesy Cubs logo on the sleeve.
  3. Yes it is, considering Dusty's name is Johnnie B. Baker Jr.
  4. Cobs suck, Zambrano makes them suck a little less. Still, too many losers will play tonight and the Cobs will lose 141-0.
  5. But who? His GM is too busy swearing at everybody Ozzie's not swearing at.
  6. Sorry, I see his lips moving but all I hear is "blah, blah, blah".
  7. Any chance they could confuse him with someone good?
  8. There are 29 teams in baseball that I hate equally. The Cubs are trying awfully hard to be #30. The Yankees will get no special treatment from me.
  9. Sadly, Joey's 305 OBP would be an upgrade.
  10. Does it really matter? We don't need someone in RF until next season. Exactly. Hell, put Blanco out in RF when Barrett returns and call up Soto. That should be at least good for a laugh or two. Blanco in RF would be close to the funniest thing in the history of the game. Funnier than Hundley even.

  12. By pantsing them as they circle the bases? ???huh??? No dictionary entry for pantsing. What do you mean? As in they are wearing pants, Maddux sneaks up behind, and they now have pants around their ankles.
  13. Darnit, I finally remembered what Stoney said on the radio yesterday. Someone asked if he saw Kenny Williams going after Soriano, and long story short, Stoney said Soriano is a leadoff man and not a middle of the order guy. He's on pace for 54 HRs, Stoney!
  14. By release do you mean sent him back to Iowa, or did they just release him?
  15. Freddie vs. Everyone has been horrible.
  16. If only Ronny could hit lefties. His numbers would be fantastic.
  17. Agreed. We need someone like Kenny Lofton there to bridge the gap. Maybe not necessarily Kenny, but someone like him who could come in on a 1-year deal and produce. I don't like the idea of adding Soriano when players like Abreu or Cabrera could be available. I'd rather trade some talent for either of those 2 than to take a gamble that Soriano can repeat the first half he's having.
  18. I'm so honored. Wow, I don't even have a speech prepared.
  19. That's an enormously bold thing to say. I'm sure there is alot more that you and I don't know about as opposed to what we DO know about. I played organized baseball for 16 years and in that time, I saw fights occur over every possible thing imaginable. I've even seen a fight between a 1B and a 2B because the 1B thought that the 2b had thrown the ball too hard to him on a ground out. I have no problem with suspending Barrett, but 10 games is a ton. That's funny! (The 1st & 2nd basemen fighting). Reminds me of Major League 3 (lets not even start that debate) when the twin brothers played 2nd and Short. Was that "Back to the Minors"....or am I thinking of the 4th one? I wasn't aware there was a fourth one. Must be thinking of Hillary Swank in "The Next Karate Kid".
  20. "You're an idiot" - said by anyone who ever hears him speak
  21. Might as well get them all suspended. They might be better then.
  22. 6 games. So a part-time player (pitcher) gets 6 games for running around 50 already fighting individuals to piledrive someone for no apparent reason and gets only 6 games. An everyday player punches a guy who just ran him over and gets 10 games. That was a fight, though. If the "dude" was out there in the middle of a fight, he at least had the opportunity to defend himself......... or should have. Barrett sucker-punched a guy who had no reason to expect it, and was completely defenseless. To me, there's a difference. Besides, at least Farnsworth's assault was effective. I don't even know what most of that means. The "dude" Farnsworth piledrived was not in the middle of a fight, and even if he was, it does not make the actions any more right than what Barrett did. Pierwhatshisface had more opportunity to defend himself as the "dude" did. Maybe you didn't see the Farns in action, I don't know. I'm not going to argue semantics on whether or not it was a sucker punch, but when words are exchanged face-to-face and one ends up getting punched, I do not consider that a sucker punch. I do not condone Barrett's behavior, and I think he should be suspended, but 10 games is a bit harsh in my opinion when conjuring up memories of suspensions past.
  23. On the bright side, it's making the Bynum/Murton platoon seem like a much less stupid idea.

  25. What did Farns get after piledriving that dude for no reason last year?
