  1. I'm guessing Jones and his bum shoulder will be in CF, Soriano has a good enough arm for RF.
  2. I'm sure you had a point in there somewhere, but I missed it. Why compare a 40 something pitcher who's obviously getting worse to a bunch of kids who just made their debuts and are likely to improve?
  3. 5/50 from the Angels My apologies if it's already been posted.
  4. Defense doesn't matter. Petition to ban rolleyes because I'm really tempted to use it. No one ever said defense doesn't matter. I wish that were the case. Will this be the thread where you finally use evidence to support your claim?
  5. Can you please stop having a sig that's 3469.52 KB?
  6. One should never be forced to choose between Fast Freddie Bynum and anybody. Never.
  7. Bruce said during the organization meetings that Pierre's OBP was something that opened a lot of eyes. It would be nice to hear it in conjunction with Murton or when discussing the departure of Izturis. But overall I, too, am very surprised at the turnaround to this point.
  8. Oh, dear Jebus. If Hill puts up anywhere near those numbers, everyone else better be healthy too. I'd hate to see him do that with Zambrano, Westbrook, and Schmidt all on the DL with Prior for most of the year.
  9. Has there been anyone since Sosa that previously wore or requested #21? And just to keep this on topic, Murph's a moron.
  10. Look for me on gatewayredbirds when I get a free moment here and there. I'm "Jim Hendry's Chins". It's a pretty good ripoff of NSBB. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have this: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b79/rjackson31/inyourface.gif
  11. What an interesting hypothesis. Please tell me more.
  12. False How so? Roberts is quite a bit better. I would disagree with that. Then please, only if it's just this once, state your reasons why.
  13. False How so? Roberts is quite a bit better.
  14. We've only improved at one of the outfield spots. Jones is still Jones(and '07 Jones is likely to be worse than '06 Jones) even if he moves to a different position. Also, DeRosa is far from a guarantee to be an upgrade over our 2B production in '06(.274/.326/.411/.737). Nope. 1B = Lee > no Lee RF = Soriano > Jones CF = Jones > Pierre 2B = Derosa > Neifi, Bynum, Walker, Cedeno P = Have already said they are getting 2 more pitchers. And the off-season is not even HALF over yet. I mean my gosh people. Jim is STILL going to go out and get some pitchers, he might even replace Izturis with Lugo. For heavens sake admit we are better and we're not even done yet! We've significantly upgraded 1 OF spot, and assuming Lee is healthy, 1 IF spot. Assuming DeRosa's new approach will lead to similar production, our 2B spot was pretty much a lateral move (vs Walker). 3B and SS will be about the same, and I'm inclined to think Murton will be a little more productive. However, I am not counting on Barrett to reproduce his numbers, and I wouldn't be surprised if Jones's numbers slipped a little too.
  15. Jones >> Lugo >>>> Izturis. If they view Lugo in CF over Jones, they're crazy. He's not as good and would make almost twice as much. If they want Lugo over Izturis at SS, they're on the right track. There he would make twice as much, but he'd also provide twice the production.
  16. You know he signed that deal at 28 and will be 36 when it's done. I'm pretty sure he was 36 when he signed it, 44 when it's done.
  17. I appreciate the honesty.
  18. LINK That's already been quoted in this thread. You're not reading along, are you?
  19. Drew is not coming to the Cubs via Bruce Miles. I'll take his word for it. I'd love Wells. But any deal involving him starts with Barrett, and probably with Pie/Veal. I would do it. What's better, Jacque/Barrett, or Blanco/Wells? Jacque/Barrett with The Don a year or two away by far.
