  1. Do any other trades come to mind where Hendry vastly overpaid? He gave up a living, breathing human being for Jose Macias. I thought there was some debate over whether or not he was actually breathing at the time.
  2. QFT This thread sucks more than the Radke thread.
  3. A gamble cannot exist without a possible gain.
  4. I think Griese should be given the nod to give Rex a chance to "find himself", or whatever the hell he needs to do to stop sucking so much.
  5. Politely disagree. He had terrible luck on balls in play in 2005, but he still ended up with pretty good numbers against right-handed pitchers. He'd make a nice platoon partner for Jacque. #-o [-(

  7. http://www.users.muohio.edu/rothkr/fdup.jpg You really need to think a little bit before you post, or at least research your topic. As the posters above have clearly explained, Radke has no shoulder. I don't think that was necessary.
  8. It's the Rule 5 draft, not Rule V. [/nitpick]
  9. Also remember the new CBA eliminated the May 1 rule.
  10. Is this your way of saying the Cubs are showing interest?
  11. yeah, I think I'd find another team to root for at that point I would too but only because of OJ. :?: OJ only killed 2 people that we know of.
  12. Is 10.5 million his age, the dollar amount of the contract, or both?
  13. Haven't seen it posted yet. I would hope we see the full list tomorrow. Is the deadline midnight?
  14. He's better than Gil Meche. Ted Lilly is not a good pitcher. I didn't say he was good. I said he was better than Gil Meche.
  15. You're right. Z Lilly Hill Westbrook Miller won't contend in the NL central at all next year, with. Soriano Murton Lee Ramirez Jones Barret Derosa Izturis  You can roll your eyes all you want. But that team is maybe a .500 team. If everything breaks right they could contend for the division. But with a top 5 payroll I expect more. My guess is slightly above 500 with everyone healthy, 84 wins or so. Schmidt over Westbrook/Jennings would probably add another 5. You can't get into the playoffs with 83 wins every year.
  16. Lugo OPS+ 06:94 (122 in TB) 05:105 04:94 Jones OPS+ 06:107 05:99 04:90 Jone's 3 year OPS+ (straight) average is 1 point higher than Lugo's and Lugo's is 27 points higher than Izturis'. To be fair, you'd have to add 50 more > to the Lugo/Izturis comparison. Of course, Lugo will cost nearly as much as both Jones and Izturis combined, so that needs to be considered. After looking into the #s I don't really think that if we can get something decent for Jones, it would be so horrible to replace his production with Lugo, especially when you take into consideration the predicament we will be in next offseason at SS if we don't. Your fancy stats just reinforced my point. Jones is a much better option for CF than Lugo, who is an extremely better option at SS than Izturis. Lugo will not bring enough production to warrant the 3-5M that he'll cost more than Jones.
  17. I recall a month ago when I created a post that said that a Tribune exec. was 99.9% sure the Cubs would be sold before the start of the 2007 season began and was ripped apart as a liar and chastized as a "troller." My post doesn't look so bad anymore does it Giles Bros. and Vince the Cub Fan. The fact that I knew of the impending sale of the Tribune's assets before it was made public was legitimate. Anyway, here is an update from the same source: About 2 weeks ago the Tribune started taking bids on all of their assets from potential investors to gauge the demand/value of each asset. The bidding was to last for 2 weeks and then they were going to have a meeting of the top exec's and make a decision before they presented it to the board of directors at the monthly meeting. This all should happen quickly, oncew the decision is made to sell off the assets and go back to its core competencies because the bidders are already out there. yeah, that vince is a real jerk sometimes you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone on this board who likes Vince the Cub Fan. Good one, you've never made a mistake typing I assume? Neevr
  18. I feel obligated to post this yet again. Jones >> Lugo >>>> Izturis
  19. Considering the Cubs' current team I would agree with you (since neither Cabrera nor Pujols would be better than Ramirez or Lee to the degree that it would cancel out losing Zambrano). I'd be slotting Cabrera into a corner OF spot, so he wouldn't be replacing Ramirez. That damn Pujols bum could go in the OF too.
