  4. have there been many attempts on his life so far? seems to me if someone was so against the idea of a black president, they'd take care of it before he was elected
  5. I talked to Barry this morning, and he said he's not going to play for teh cobs
  6. this is one of the reasons I'm glad I wasn't raised in Chicago. I don't hate the Sox any more than I hate every other team in baseball, Cubs included
  7. his success this year has gone to his head a little. I've noticed he struts on the bases now
  8. the first step's admitting it
  9. and Johnson will be off with the pitch so he's closer to LF when Ward K's
  10. No defense in walks. Missals ain't good either but if you can't even throw a strike, you have problems. We're not really arguing whether giving up a HR is better than walking someone, are we? No. I'm talking about throwing strikes vs balls. Are you? Because that involves the batter's choices as well and isn't purely on the pitcher. There is a way to get a good result out of a pitch outside the strike zone. OK...how is Z doing this year since he improved his ball to strike ratio? #2..if you are around the plate you also have more of a chance. When a pitcher is way out of the strike zone you have none. Z's strike percentage is currently less than it was last year. it's actually about 2% higher
  11. I'm stepping out for a bit to head to Cincinnati. it appears as though today's finally my day to get a big league HR
  12. damn third out. I was hoping to see Votto and Dunn go back to back at least 1 more time in the 2nd
  13. and the corpse of Marge Schott just went deep. 7-0 Reds
  14. Corey Patterson is not very good at hitting baseballs

  16. your very own Chicago Cubs have 2 or 3 guys who could have made that throw to 3rd. he's got a good arm, but he's not on his own level Lol, Bob. Rick's arm is elite and I would be surprised if even Fukudome could outdo him. I worded that poorly I think. I won't deny his arm, but to get all moist over that throw to 3rd is a bit ridiculous. there are others in baseball with extremely accurate and strong arms and could also make that play. what was lost in that play is how idiotic it can be to tag from 2nd on a flyball to CF. maybe he's "better" than Fukudome, maybe not, but I do not think he's on his own level
