  1. 2B isn't the most obvious place for him to move. SS move because of decreased range, 2B still need range. I'm thinking 3B or LF. Regardless, once you move him out of SS, the premium you pay for production at SS is more than you should pay for production at 2B. You don't trade young top 10 pitchers for a guy you might have to move in a couple years. I hate when other people post "I have a source" stuff, but I'll do it anyway. Take it with a grain of salt. I would do the same if I were in your position. I have a source I respect who tells me that Mark Prior absolutely hates everything about the Chicago Cubs organization. It's almost a 100% sure thing that he's leaving as a free agent the very instant he can. You could be looking at Tejada for four years versus Prior for three years. Obviously, I don't know this for sure. Just something to consider. Well, that would certainly change things. I'd just get rid of the entire front office and upgrade to a real group of baseball executives. Wait, I'd do that anyway. Exactly. I'm more surprised that there aren't more sources indicating current players despise the organization than I am about Prior being fed up.
  2. They were making fun of me? -- Edward K., Indianapolis, Ind.
  3. Exactly why this is disturbing. I know there were several people that wanted us to grab Tejada during the FA period and Hendry made improvements elsewhere. Well, here we are about to give up one of our best pitchers for the same guy we could have had. But those were improvements that landed us in the World ... um, never mind. But they did get us ... well, not a whole lot. But now we may have to trade ... oh crap!
  4. I don't trust Murph as far as I could throw him, but if Zito moving to Balto gets Prior's name off the table, that would be wonderful.
  5. We better be getting Manny AND Tejada then... Manny AND Tejada? World Series here come the Cubbies =P~ If we can also still hold onto Prior...
  6. That is the key. Zambrano and Prior combined will likely still be more inexpensive than Zito after next season. If that doesn't scare you, nothing will.
  7. Say we go after Young for 2nd to reduce his defensive liabilities. Prior + Walker for Young + Mench or Wilkerson + Pitching prospect I like Young a lot, but that trade would probably make me throw up all over myself.
  8. I heard on Tuesday that AZ was looking to move Glaus in the next 48 hours and Anaheim looked like the likely destination. What, they didn't get enough of him the last time?
  9. With some health and a little more pitching, they could actually put together 70-75 wins next year. Not bad considering where they just were.
  10. Aren't you the one that told me to go hi-jack a thread and come back and tell you. Touche. Um, that was different?
  11. OK, back to the Prior/Tejada thing (again). Seriously.
  12. OK, back to the Prior/Tejada thing (again). If Hendry said absolutely no way to Prior for Abreu when we had a HUUUUUGE hole in RF, why the maybe or heck yeah for Tejada when we don't have such a gaping hole? I want Miggy, but I want Prior more.
  13. I don't blame him -- it gets pretty damn cold there in the winter. Plus, it's the Packers for crying out loud.
  14. Bruce knows Hendry. Maybe we should take up a collection for Bruce to slap him silly for us. I'll put in the first $20.
  15. OFFER C: Prior and Hill for Tejada, Bedard and PTBNL where the PTBNL turns out to be Prior. Is this one possible?
  16.    Only 23? How can you sleep at night! At least you know what the World Series looks like. Unless he's 22 or younger...
  17. I would not do this deal. I agree, however Tejada/Bedard for Prior would make the Cubs a lot better in 06. i fully expect a Cy Young season from prior next year, and if he's traded, that's a lock. Why do you fully expect that? I do as well because he's healthy. A healthy Mark Prior > nearly all other pitchers.
  18. There's probably 5-10 mil left, but Hendry hasn't had supper yet.
  19. Carlos is 24 and quickly becoming one of the most dominating starting pitchers in baseball. I wouldn't trade him for anyone straight up.
  20. More like: Think an offer of Carlos Zambrano, Pie and Perez would get the Baltimore Orioles' attention? I do. The Cubs ought to be willing to give up Zambrano to get Tejada, especially if they still can add a free-agent starter (Kevin Millwood, Jeff Weaver or Brett Tomko would do). -- Edward K., Indianapolis, Ind.
  21. Z/Pie/Perez for Tejada...for the love of baseball god....why won't somebody plz hut him up. Millwood/Weaver/Zito would have to be in the Cubs possession before I would even consider trading Zambrano for Tejada. Trading Z for Tejada, and "hoping" to sign Millwood, etc is not very sound. Trading Z for Tejada is not very sound even if we had Millwood, Weaver, AND Zito. I want miggy as much as anyone, but I would not give up Z for any other one player in baseball. Period.
