  1. Does AU have 2 WRs, but the outside guy covering the inside guy? They have 4 guys in the backfield with 2 WRs to the right.
  2. I like Ackley as a target, but is that really selling high on Lake? Ackley had some value as a bounce back target last year, but he was pretty bad again last year (save a few games at AAA). Guess I'm not sure what Lake's value is. Maybe Ackley is good value. I agree it makes sense from the Cubs perspective, in either case.
  3. Nix officially gone as he has an agent. Strong hints that Tuitt is coming back.
  4. God I hope not. Protect those hammys
  5. I believe it. And also, it's not as if guys like Jay-Z or Scott Boras are brought in to haggle over contractual terms. He's there to close the main framework of a deal. For a baseball contract, that's dollars and years. It's totally true. I've never negotiated a baseball contract, but I've seen one and I know the CBA dictates a lot of terms or at least a framework. Not so in music contracts, esp when the artist has leverage like Jay Z does. The negotiation over his recording rights, publishing rights, and performance deals would be insane.
  6. Pretty rare for your head coach to leave for a top tier program (as opposed to being fired or retire) and you end up hiring someone better. And they get whatever buyout was due for Sark and whatever assistants he took. What a windfall.
  7. Well, the children's hospital at UW is top tier, from what I understand. And I don't know what his son is battling, but the cancer center here is incredibly well regarded too. I'm sure LA is great, but combine all the other benefits of Seattle and it's easy to see why he'd be interested in UW but not USC. To avoid misconception, I'm not at all arguing that UW is the best gig in CFB or even better than USC. I'm just saying it makes sense for Peterson.
  8. Music contracts are a lot more complicated
  9. Wait he'd rather coach Washington than USC? He did turn down the USC job right? For one, the cultural difference between Seattle and LA is night/day. For a guy that doesn't want the spotlight, this is a pretty good place to be. For another, the alumni/booster pressure is pretty mild. I don't hear or see much evidence of UW's coaches around town glad-handing. No one was calling for Sark's head and he's been 7-6 for 3 years before finally winning 8 games this year. You don't see the 5th year at USC if you haven't won 8 games yet. And his son's medical condition has always been a big factor. UW's children's hospital is top notch. Wouldn't be surprised if he got to bring a dr with him or got comfortable with what UW had to offer.
  10. To clarify: if he's innocent, I'm glad he won't be charged. But regardless, that the podium resembles a dais during the last comedy central roast is embarrassing.
  11. It's always a joyous occasion when there's insufficient evidence to charge someone with rape. Who brought the bubbly?
  12. He was a going to go to USC even before his uncle was hired (it's been implied that he's been a silent commit for about a month). UCLA hired former USC RB coach Kennedy Pola as their new RB coach. I don't think that's true, actually. I know he was rumored to be a silent commit, but I understand those rumors were just rumors. He didn't like UW enough to follow his uncle there. But Sark taking the uncle to USC will lock it up, I'd think. oh well It'll be fun to watch the UCLA/USC catfighting now.
  13. bring back ransom
  14. wait, when did any of us claim to be "quality posters"
  15. OK, I was assuming a LH reliever named "Wesley" was some kind of gangly cracker, so this is a pleasant surprise. as you wish http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_0FAQr3mF5P4/Sf0Wi0rHFxI/AAAAAAAAAEA/9JQWIirFaIs/s320/5024388_std.jpg
  16. You get to enjoy another year of one of the best players in Japan, and you can still get your 20 million next offseason. They may even hold out slim hope the rules get to change again. Wasn't that the case before? I mean, why suggest that they were going to post him this year at all? Wasn't one of the options always "keep him another year and get millions next year"?
  17. Could've done without JuJu Smith's uncle going with Sark to USC. [expletive] trojans.
  18. Ogre would be a good fit. He was as a bigger failure at Ole Miss than Kiffen at USC. And the only reason that anybody is bringing his name up now is the order in which they went 6-2 with him as interim. Its pretty well documented the situations that Kiffen walked into at Oakland and SC. Im not saying hes a great coach, im saying he is a great hire for Illinois. If you would have told Kiffen hed be in Champaign five years ago hed have cut himself. Now hed take the job. I'm bringing his name up b/c I think he's a buffoon and I want to see him tank another program.
  19. Ogre would be a good fit.
  20. Why in the world would you want to pay a ton for an OC when (1) he's an OL coach and we have a stud OL coach, and (2) Kelly is going to run his offense and call his plays, etc, etc. They're probably going to promote Denbrock or Alford and then go hire a position coach. Hopefully one who actually knows special teams and can teach players to tackle a kick returner. Or go hire Borges if Hoke would only let him go.
  21. and Golson is now cleared to be readmitted later this month. Can't play in the bowl.
  22. Great hire for Miami. I think he'll be ND's head coach down the road if he succeeds there and at a mid-level program. I'm sure that's his plan, anyway.
  23. Why do I feel like Dombrowski oscillates between amazing moves and baffling moves? Oh, bc he does.
  24. Orgeron at Wake doesn't seem like a good pairing
