  1. I don't know if you're looking at "drag and drop" or "classic" view, but you can change your starters (pitchers and offense) daily. You don't have to go to Edit Lineup to do it, you can just do it from your team page. Once that player's game starts on a particular day, you can't change his position (either the position he's starting, or from the bench to starter), but you can change anyone up to about 5 minutes before the game starts. I still don't understand what you mean when you say there are 12 players in your box. You should be able to put whatever player you want into any position for which he is eligible (as indicated below his name).
  2. Our league starts April 1. I don't understand your second Q.
  3. Draft order has now been set. Good luck everyone.
  4. Reminder! Our draft is today at 1:30 Eastern. The draft order will be set by Y! before the draft. Good luck to everyone!
  5. That is the right list. Just to expand on what cheapseats said, at the top, change the "Top 25" drop-down menu to Top 500. There will be over 200 total players drafted in our league, so you'll want to be sure to rank about that many (though, if you don't, Y! will use its default rankings for the rest of your picks).
  6. I'm pretty new to fantasy baseball too, but in my leagues I try to nab 1 good/great closer in the draft and pick up others during the season. Many of the saves-leaders each year weren't the designated closer for their team when the season started. It's a strategy that requires that you pay a little more attention to bullpens and usually I'll nab a guy before he becomes the closer (like Paps last year) to be sure I get him. Depending on what closers didn't get drafted, you might be able to nab guys like Valverde or Torres now, just to be sure you have at least 1 closer, but I'd keep an eye on the Braves closer role (I think Wickman won't last long) and Rangers, in case Gagne goes down again, among others.
  7. Just for that - go Royals!
  8. My heart skipped a beat there. Thanks for the lineup Bruce.
  9. rough go for the sonics? that's the 5th time I've lost a guy for a month or more this year. cripes.
  10. If the next two picks are Ramirez and Carlos Lee, I'd maybe say pick Albert Pujols. I dunno, call me crazy, but I think he might end up being a good one. As he said, it's a keeper league. I'd assume Pujols is being kept. Though, if the original poster wants advice, it would be good to list the players that are being kept by other teams (and your team). It's hard to guess who might be available. Would also be good to know what kind of league and what categories we're talking about.
  11. roto? H2H?
  12. You can preset your player rankings. Whether you can come into the draft after a few rounds, I don't know.
  13. Can someone (CCP or someone else) explain why the gap would be getting wider? Why would OBP be getting less predictive and OPS more predictive over the years?
  14. Man, we've had some REALLY bad players recently...
  15. You'll get all games with a radio broadcast and you should be able to pick between home/road broadcasts if both are available. I don't know about auto-renewing. It automatically renewed last year and I have to figure MLB will do the same this year b/c most people will just forget to cancel, even if they wanted to.
  16. Our 5 best hitters all together at the top of the order?!? Amazing. Cubs baseball can't get here soon enough.
  17. I'm much much much rather have Murton in RF than Jones. After seeing him play last year, I certainly wouldn't say Jones is qualified to play RF.
  18. 1. Newer stats, I don't use traditional stats (AVG, RBI, etc) to compare the value of players at all anymore. 2 & 3) Sounds like you and I are in about the same boat. I can explain the "basic" newer stats, and know how to use many of them. Some (like WARP), I just haven't read enough about or tried to figure out. In theory I would like to know more about them and be comfortable using them, but realistically don't see that happening. I also don't spend a lot of time on the newer defensive metrics because I'm not convinced of their accuracy and/or usefulness in comparing or evaluating players. That might just be my ignorance though.
  19. I don't have much more to add
  20. I'd do Prior against Mats, Z against Beckett, and Hill against Paps. Hill v. Mats is a bad matchup for you, so I'd throw Prior against him. If Mats is as good as advertised, not even a great Hill season will get the win for you. It's going to take a repeat of '03 for Prior or a great season from Z to beat him. If Prior is hurt or not his best, you only lost the matchup you thought you'd lose anyway. If Prior is what we've all wanted for the last 3 seasons - it'll take a great season for Mats to beat you. Z against Beckett should be a clear W for you. Hill and Paps is pretty even, b/c of the uncertainty surrounding both.
  21. I'll pm the league ID and password as people post their interest.
  22. Wanting to set up a Y! points-based league for about 10-12 teams with Y! standard positions (1 - 1b, 2b, 3b, SS, C, Util; 3 OF, 2 SP, 2 RP, 3 P). 1350 Max IP. Following points system: 1 point/single, 2 points/double, 3 points/triple, 4 points/HR, .5 points/SB, 1 points/walk, 1 point/RBI, 1 point/Run, 1 point/strikeout, 2 points/inning pitched -1 point/earned run, -.25 points/walk issued, -.25 points/hit allowed, 8 points/win, 8 points/save Looking for active managers. Let me know if you're interested.
  23. Yes He's not a C in my Y! leagues this year.
  24. I agree. Can you afford to stash him for 1+ years? He isn't going to pitch at all this year. Then a rehab year... To me it all depends on how long you think the league will be around. If you're thinking long term, I think you have to keep him (b/c who ever drafts him this year is going to keep him for next year and you'll never see him again). If this is a league that you don't expect to be around for several years, I'd let him go.
  25. I probably don't watch enough TV anymore to have a credible opinion. I only watch 3 shows with any regularity (2 1/2 Men, Office, Monk) and I like Monk the best of the 3, so I'm going with Friday.
