  1. Depending on what they have to give up to get him, might not be bad. I'd start cheap though. I do think they'd be better off trying to deal one of their 40 OFs for a SP.
  2. I'd probably go Kendrick. If Kinsler gets moved up to a better RBI/R spot in the lineup, he might be the better choice, but hitting 9th is going to hurt him a little. As everyone has said, all of those guys should be owned in almost every league, so it doesn't really matter.
  3. Each day's lineup should be based entirely on performance the day before. That's why Lee and ARam have been trying so hard to keep their hit streaks going. They know if they go 0-for just once, there butt is on the pine, where it should be. [/sarcasm]
  4. I doubt it - but a lot of us have fond memories of him and probably some follow his career quite closely. Given that he was a "can't miss" prospect for this team just a few years ago, I can't see why someone starting a thread about him every so often is a bad thing.
  5. Did anyone else hear Dusty doing one of the baseball games last week? He was talking about he used to coach lefties to look for the high fastball (i.e., to swing at). I think he even said he worked with CPatt to attack the high fastball or something. I nearly threw my drink through the tv.
  6. Of course not. I'll take a base runner getting past second. Small steps. well, does getting to 2nd do anything for you? I suppose Lee is technically past second when he rounds it and again when he leads off. But I was thinking 90' past 2nd. Have to wait for next inning. Well, the Cubs dugout has to be about 120' from 2nd. too far
  7. Not surprised. When you only do one thing well, you better not suck at it.
  8. Can we come up with a "clutch" 2-out hit? I'd take a non-clutch 2-out hit, even.

  11. Hypocritical in your own post. You missed the point. You conveniently cut out his post, which I was quoting, to show just how dumb it is to tell people what they can't post. I didn't miss the point at all. He told you what you should or shouldn't post, and you then proceeded to tell him what he should or shouldn't post. You then followed it with a statement that basically says you hate when people tell others how they should or shouldn't post. Guilty of your own complaint. I'm tired of the Murton playing time posts, but they aren't going to go away, no matter how much anyone protests. Skip them if you are not a fan of such posts. No, I think you missed the point. I used the framework of his post ("stop the X posts!") to make fun of it. I wasn't seriously telling him what to post. I wouldn't actually tell someone not to post about a topic and then say I hate when people do that. I'm not an idiot. And I don't know if your last paragraph is directed at me, but I'm not protesting the Murton playing time posts. I'm hoping Lou stops by, sees a lot of people complain about Murton's lack of playing time, and permanently puts him in LF and the 2-hole.
  12. Almost every no-name pitcher seemed to shut us out last year. Hopefully things will change.
  13. I'm well aware that Jones had a good year last year, at least against RHP. That's why we should have traded him in the off-season. I'm more than happy to put Murton's .350 OBP in the 2 hole against RHP or LHP. Please stop with the Murton man crushes! I like the guy too but goodness, he'll get his chance. It's not like has been killing the ball or getting on base any other way. It's game 8. Actually, you know what, I'll post that I want Murton to play pretty much whenever I feel like it. I think Murton should be hitting 2nd. He has a .350 OBP (which this team needs, esp at the top of the lineup) and I think he'll improve on that. He may not be starting hot, but a sample size of 20 ABs doesn't really convince me of anything. Please stop with the "he'll get his chance" talk! Unless you have the inside info from Lou that says Murton is going to get 500 ABs this year, how do you really know that? Man I hate when people tell others what they can and can't post. You are entitled to your opinion but there's really no reason to keep saying it over and over again. He isn't in there and having a fit everytime Jones or Floyd do something you don't like isn't going to change it. I'd love to tell you where to go with your attitude. I'm not having a fit. I'm making the point that Murton, and his .350 OBP should be playing every day and hitting 2nd. When someone made a counter argument, I countered that. It's not like I'm posting the same thing time and time again. I'm responding to others' posts.

  17. What's the other option that's better than Jones against RHP? Murton, Theriot, DeRosa, Barrett - I'd rather have any of them. I'm still not convinced JJ is good, even against RHP. Murton isn't in the lineup, and I don't think any of the other three are clearly better options. Murton should be in the lineup. And we'll just have to disagree on the other 3.
  18. I don't know how high any team's winning percentages are when they go down 3 runs in the top of the 1st and they have Jason Marquis on the mound. :? sure, for this game, but people are writing off Marquis for the length of the contract because of one bad inning I think people are writing off Marquis because of one bad career. Wow, joined up yesterday and already picking iFights in every thread you've posted in. Great job. You're a welcome addition here. I've haven't seen him in other threads, but I don't see anything wrong with that post. It wasn't a personal attack, and frankly, I agree. I'm writing Marquis off b/c he's sucked for the majority of his career. His performance today isn't really going to change my opinion of him.

  20. I'm not high on Sanchez either, and I think Cabrera sucks. And that's a shaky pitching staff. How long is Schmidt out?
  21. Pretty sure JP has the patent on ground outs to the first-base side.
  22. I had to close and re-open mine and now it appears to be working
  23. And he should be based off his numbers versus Williams. Not if it means JJ bats 2nd. Ugh.
  24. He is. I don't understand why some people are so up in arms over this situation. It's hardly a straight platoon. Murton has gotten four of the six starts so far in left field, and the Cubs have only faced a lefty in one of those games. How many times has he been yanked for Theriot as a "defensive replacement" in about the 7th inning? Not only should he get the majority of the starts, but he should finish the games. He's not terribly slow and Theriot isn't much better in LF (if at all). It's a move that's been made a few times and, imo, is just wasting our already thin bench.
