  1. Are those mutually exclusive?
  2. I think we need to get rid of Lou before he ruins this team.
  3. Lou's refusal to play Pie against any pitcher (Todd Wellemeyer?) is infuriating. One of many things he's doing to infuriate me.
  4. So... basically what the zone rating stats said. but you treated it like a certainty that Theriot is now and forever henceforth will be a bad fielder. Just can't let it go, or what? You say you can't trust a defensive metric that rates a guy really high one year and really low the next. Then you say that your subjective view basically corroborates that (only apparently you didn't realize that's what you were saying).
  5. Lou's justification for hitting Soriano 1st is Bobby Bonds struggled when he was put in the cleanup spot 30 years ago when Lou was playing with him. Ugh.
  6. Phew. I'm not going insane. I thought the 3 hours of sleep from last night was making me lose it.
  7. I just want some unbiased views on this b/c I feel like I'm going crazy. In a Y! league, I have a deep team and am currently leading. I posted that I'd be willing to trade an OF or two for an upgrade elsewhere, esp SS. My roster is below, as you can see - I have a ton of OF. Guy offers me O Cabrera for Kemp. He also has Carlos Guillen at SS, a bad OF, and a bunch of RP. I respond with: Kemp and Snell for Guillen and BJ Ryan (he has 5 total RP) - knew he wouldn't accept, but figured he'd either ask for a better OF, a better SP, or both. He calls me several names I can't post here. Then he sends me an offer and cancels it right away, to show me what a "fair" offer looks like: Guillen, BJ Ryan, K Suzuki for Hamels and Soto. Again, my team is below. I think he's hung up on the fact that I lost Tulo, but replacing him wasn't as important as turning an OF into an upgrade elsewhere (SS, 1B, RP jump to mind). I think his counter offer is insane and my offer was reasonable, if in my favor (as many offers are - if I thought it hurt my team, I wouldn't offer it). Am I going nuts? Soto Youk Utley Braun Therit (was Tulo) McLouth Fukudome CB Young Upton Hamels Haren Wagner Capps Dice-K Marcum Santana Bench: Kemp, Pence, Tulo, Salty, Snell DL: Harden
  8. You were doing so well until that nonsensical last sentence. I think by "when the 9th actually is the most important inning," he's saying that in those games in which the 9th really is most important (1-run leads, guys get on base in a close game, heart of the order up), Lou isn't going to his "best" reliever - Marmol. Lou is sticking with his "closer" in those situations, and CHL is suggesting Lou should use Marmol in the highest-leverage situations, whether it be the 7th, 8th, or a save situation in the 9th that's harder than your routine 3-run lead, no one on, bottom of the order up, 9th. If I'm completely misread his post, than I share your opinion, jersey.
  9. Maybe I've missed it or just have a faulty memory, I have yet to see any reputable source saying Soriano told Lou he only felt comfortable hitting 1st or otherwise demanded that he hit there. All the reports I read said Lou thought Soriano was most comfortable hitting 1st, but Soriano offered to hit anywhere Lou wanted him. I hate that we signed him for 8 years and his contract will soon be an albatross for this team, but let's try to calm down a bit.
  10. Sunk cost. Yes, where I have a DL spot, I'm keeping him. But he's been terrible and he could miss months. If I have to drop him to put a more productive player on the DL, I'll do it.
  11. I have him in 2 leagues where I don't really have a good backup. I've been waiting for him to hit the DL for the last several days so I could add a replacement. In 1 league, I have Harden about to come off the DL, so I'll swap them out. In the other league, I have a free DL spot. In both leagues, I'm going to put him on the DL, but if his spot is needed in the next several weeks, he's getting dropped. I'll try to remember to pick him up just before he's ready to come back, but he's been a disastrous pick for me. And to think, in one league, I accidentally drafted Furcal 2 rounds after I picked Tulo. I ended up trading Furcal and keeping Tulo. Argh.
  12. this helps explain his RBI total. his line with the bases loaded -- 833/833/1.667/2.500 IsoD of .000? Loser.
  13. I loved his justification for athlete's actions. "We're no different than athletes of the 60s. We just get caught b/c there's cameras everywhere." Ok, Braylon.
  14. Yeah, he said on Deadspin that he saw it coming before the interview started, something about people stewing backstage. If you're looking for it, you can tell in the introduction that he's expecting something. But he didn't do a great job of defending his viewpoint. Of course, he didn't pick up a bat and crush Buzz's skull, so he gets points for self restraint. Honestly, it's very difficult to defend yourself well in a verbal assault with an arrogant, yet ignorant, blowhard streaming illogical, rage-filled, F-bombs at you. Even if you're prepared for something of an attack, he probably didn't see it playing out quite that way. I certainly didn't, and I didn't even see the clip until after having read about it on FJM and Deadspin. My favorite part was Will doing the huffy-faced arms swinging imitation of a mad Buzz while Buzz keeps cutting him off.
  15. My favorite part is the intro where the "blogger" is a guy in a dark room with a computer and almost nothing else. Looks like it could easily be my mother's basement...and I'm not even a blogger. Wait...dad?
  16. anyone have a link to a clip?
  17. It think the OP made that pretty clear. But your "best" PH is usually put into particularly important situations. His failing almost 95% of the time is hurting us.
  18. Proud of yourself? a little What about pointing out that if you do a google image search, there was never a time when this woman was attractive. Come on Roger, there had to be better options out there. Since they were just friends, does it matter if she was hot?
  19. 20 team keeper league? I'd use #2 on Max. Heck, if the #1 guy takes him, you get Price or Kershaw. Even if he's not starting this year, sure seems like he'll be starting in the near future.
  20. Agreed. I think McCann is much more likely to finish as the top or near the top in fantasy Cs than Burrell is to maintain this torrid pace. I'd shoot for a different OF where you're not buying quite so high.
  21. I would have to say that the "Gallagher" to the bullpen issue is dead. I think the Cubs learned their lesson last year that Sean isn't a pitcher for the bullpen. Thats not to say it couldn't happen as Sean would do whatever he was asked to help the club. I just don't see the bullpen as a good fit. I would have to say that Ascanio would be the first RH to be called up. I'd rather see Gallagher or Marshall replace Marquis in the rotation.
  22. Yeah. Can't blame Marquis. He pitched 5 innings of 10 hit, 9.00 ERA ball. What more can you expect from your starters? Middle relievers are there b/c they aren't good or durable enough to be starters and aren't good enough to be closers/stoppers (whatever you want to call the Marmols and Chamberlains of the world). We continually have to go to the pen for 3-4 IP. That means a lot of work for guys that, almost by definition, aren't very good. You're going to get burned when you do that repeatedly. It'd be nice if we could routinely get 6 and 7 IP from our starters (we had a nice little string there last week - 5 games in a row or something?), but all too frequently, our starters aren't getting the job done.
  23. So what do we do when Reed starts hitting RH pitching the way he has for the rest of his career?
  24. My realtor's name is Neda Cox. I swear I'm not making that up. There's also a Shanita Dix at our school. If your last name is Cox and you meet a woman named "Neda" I think you have to propose, just for comedy's sake.
  25. What kind of sandwich?
