  1. the upgrade from hayden to mayock was immeasurable. mayock will be great on thursdays.
  2. why can't this go in Wow Castro, just a few threads down?
  3. I'm not sure why you quoted your earlier post, since nothing in that wndu article speaks to what punishment he'll get from kelly (and the wndu article flies in the face of your comment that suggests that football players don't get punished). It appears true that reslife did not crack down on Floyd as they have others in the past. It's also true (and i'm sure you knew this, given how closely you've followed nd football recently) that reslife has been overhauled within the last 12 months b/c the last director (bill kirk, but again, you knew that) was a bit psycho and uneven in the punishments handed down. if Floyd is an exception for the new reslife regime b/c he's a football player, that's bs. but if he's just the first football player to receive punishment from the new reslife and reslife is really going to be pulled from the dark ages and be a bit less harsh and more consistent, then great. we don't know which it's going to be.
  4. easy there, boy. we probably shouldn't make statements we don't know to be true. He won't be kicked off the team. I think that's true. And that's a real black mark against ND, as it is the only school to allow a player with a DUI to play football for them...
  5. why isn't it news now? for nearly 10 years, tickets for almost all of their games have been scattered singles within 3 days of going on sale. how many games are sold out now, almost 2 months after tickets went on sale and 4 games into the season? it's a story now.
  6. There, that wasn't so hard, was it? you are this much of a pain and then you mock TT when he finally gives in? if TT had the trigger than 90% of the rest of us have, you'd be long gone.
  7. eating pancakes on sunday night? that sounds awesome, i don't care who is blabbing nonsense on the tv.
  8. are you kidding me with this?
  9. I want to like Stone. Not b/c he's smart but b/c he reminds me of my childhood watching Cubs games with he and a drunk harry caray calling games. but dear lord does he make it tough not to hate him.
  10. The first couple years of auction drafts, I tended to target just 1 or 2 more high priced guys early, but ignore the real top picks like Pujols and HRam. In 10-12 team leagues, if you had the patience for it, you'd start seeing amazing value in the $12-15 range when other teams have blown most of their budget or started freaking out that they had $100 left and only 4 spots filled. It's a little more difficult now that more people have experience with it. But I don't think walking away with a few bucks is an indication that you should have spent more. Hopefully it means that since you didn't wildly overpay for a bunch of guys, you were able to get several guys at very good prices. That said, if you walk away with $50 and don't have any top talent, you probably have the wrong strategy.
  11. \ Count me in on the Quade fan club. =D> Does this settle the question of whose decision this was? Sure seems to.
  12. this is getting so old sorry, "has gotten"
  13. releasing silva would help here. it'd be great if there wasn't the risk that silva pitched well in a couple long relief outings and boom, cashner gets yanked out of the rotation. but i have faith that quade is going to show patience. he seems to make solid decisions and not give a [expletive] if morons like kapman don't agree with him.
  14. you only said that so that when an elephant falls on my car next year, you can look back at this thread and say people were worried about elephants falling on my car and since there were "non-zero" posts about it in this thread, you were right. You win this round.
  15. that's dead student, andy. not students. the girl was from st mary's and the lineman wasn't even enrolled yet.
  16. Apparently he was arrested for underage drinking in January, as well: he's allegedly had 3 alcohol related incidents (the January one was already known), has been suspended indefinitely, and is possibly facing jail time in MN for violating his probation. At least ND wasn't counting on him to be the best WR on the team and one of the best in the country...oh [expletive].
  17. right, no argument there. i'm just saying that's not enough to fire the man.
  18. ok. the word "beautiful" set you off? fair enough. a student that was also up on a lift said it was a "regular day" - a regular day? another student said "it was an ordinary day." bunch of jerks. http://www.southbendtribune.com/sbt-interviews-revealed-in-iosha-report-on-declan-sullivan-death-20110316,0,7205659.story
  19. oh come on. try to read just a little.
  20. again, i'll ask: what's the point you're all after? What is it that a public apology, fine, and whatever settlement they reached with the family isn't satisfying for you, the masses with such strong concern for ND and the well being of its student film crew? you don't think ND should have practiced outside? well, they did and they'll continue doing so as long as Kelly thinks the weather won't interfere with practice. they installed a new system to allow them to film practices without students being as high up in the air and without using scissor lifts as often or as high as they were needed before. the fact that other coaches did or didn't practice outside isn't really relevant. they shouldn't have had Sullivan in the scissor lift that day. No one's arguing that. So what's the point?
  21. the standard by which all coaches are measured, tressell and ferentz (and I say that as a life long Iowa fan). I'd say Tressell has been significantly more than negligent recently and Ferentz has more felons on his team than all but 1 other team in CFB. Though discussing whether other coaches practiced outside isn't really relevant to anything.
  22. My buddy was interested in joining so that should be one of those three. I might be able to get one more to join if we really need him. if they'll actually participate, great. but adding managers who are going to bail in April is worse than just punting on the league.
  23. Are you kidding? The weather was the biggest regional news story of the day before the guy died. How ignorant do you think the meteorological community is? It was a huge story all over the midwest with many coaches contemplating practicing inside. It's laughable to say that Kelly may have thought the weather seemed fairly normal. It was a gorgeous day. The sun was shining. The birds were chirping. Semi tractor trailers were being blown across the highway like tumbleweeds. Kelly practices outside when many other coaches go inside due to weather. It's one of his toughness things. Who knows if it makes any difference with the team, but saying other coaches practiced inside doesn't really distinguish this day from many others. how much time do you suppose the hc of a cfb program sits outside or watches the weather channel during the season? Again, though, what's the point? The school screwed up, they've admitted it. But they're not going to fire Kelly nor should they.
  24. "not as nice as the day when i heard about that kid that fell of of the hotel balcony on spring break."
