  1. Well that's what you get for being the mopey Mizzou guy. I'm being partly facetious because there's really no scenarios that have Mizzou in a non-BCS conference at this point. But still, aside from "they have really good football teams and money", the SEC is a horrible landing spot. They are widely considered at the bottom of BCS conferences when it comes to academics, basketball, lunatic fanbases, ethics/corruption, obnoxious conference hivemind, etc. I understand why you'd prefer for Mizzou to join the Big Ten vs. the SEC, but bias clouds your judgement. Mizzou would be middle of the pack academically in the SEC as Vandy, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn all rank ahead of Mizzou academically per the US News yearly poll (measure used earlier in this thread). The association between the SEC and poor academics is legitimate but overstated on this forum. How would you categorize fans who did not actually attend the university (or any university) in the Big 12 presently? I believe those types of fans disproportionately contribute to the SEC's reputation of having 'lunatic fanbases'. Are SEC fans on this forum unreasonable generally? I'm going to climb out on a limb and surmise that Redflash didn't attend the University of Alabama. Ethics, corruption issues exist in every conference, but I agree the SEC has more than their share. The SEC addressed Medical redshirts, oversigning issues this past year, and I believe the conference is making some strides in this area. I don't understand how you'd think joining Conference USA would be preferrable. How did the sec address oversigning? And you honestly believe the sec is making strides in rules violations? Oh, I forgot that auburn totally didn't do anything illegal re Cam Newton.
  2. Probably. Like msu is now.
  3. Doesn't care about the result and is frustrated so just swing as hard as you can.
  4. No [expletive]. Some people had usf picked to win the big east, and I could easily see that. Hard to say how different they would have looked had ND not repeatedly shot itself in the foot (Holtz had the benefit of not having to try to win the game). But I can't believe you'd watch that game and jump usf up to 5 unless you thought they were that good to start the season. Polls are so dumb.
  5. in an unrelated story, NFL replay officials for Colts games will be seen driving to games in 2011 Dodge Chargers.
  6. All reports from camp were that Crist looked really, really sharp in practice. But the guy absolutely refuses to get the ball to Floyd. It's like he intentionally doesn't look to him on most of his throws. By contrast, Rees' first 3 reads are Floyd, Floyd, Floyd. He throws it to Floyd when he's not open (and Floyd catches it - imagine that). I don't know if it's lack of confidence that Floyd can make the play or if Crist is trying to prove he can spread it around to whomever, but it's killing him (of course, one of his few throws to Floyd was about 10 yards off the mark). My only complaint with Kelly is Riddick returning punts. I get wanting a playmaker back there, but the guy never did it in HS or college and he looks totally uncomfortable. Besides, in 14 games, I think Kelly's team has only had 1-2 returnable punts. If we're going to fair catch every punt, why do you need a playmaker? But Kelly made clear in his presser that Riddick will be back there. So look for UM to get at least 1-2 free possessions on muffed punts. I have to think we're going to see Rees starting and a few Hendrix/Golson series or packages next week. Barring injury, I think Crist has played his last snap of ND football. Disappointing finish for a really nice guy that came to ND as a 5-star, knowing he'd have to sit behind Clausen 2-3 years.
  7. New dots? Interview with OU's president took him hundreds of words to even mention the big 12, didn't mince words in essentially saying that OU is actively looking at other possibilities. Thanks - not enough time to play on the internet yesterday. I don't understand why you all can't just be happy with your little conferences. I'm going to be pissed if this all ends up with 4 megaconferences.
  8. I know and would never compare the programs, espec. historically, but it is ironic that while ND has been in one its' worst stretches, UK has been in one of its' better ones and they're fairly similar. Right. UK's best is about equal to ND's worst. So why can't I poke a little fun at your post about how bad they were last night?
  9. This is a message board of cubs fans. If we weren't allowed to mock others unless our team is good, this place would be pretty damn quiet. And you can't seriously be arguing that Kentucky football has been on the same level as ND for any period of time, except the 2007 season, which we all know never happened.
  10. Maybe figure out some alternate Saturday activities for this fall. I thought he was excited that things were looking up. Bowl appearances over the last 5 years... UK 5 ND 4 Record over last 5 years: UK 36-29 ND 34-29 Stick to scouting. Stats aren't your thing. :)
  11. Having seen davie and his pathetic offense, Weis, and now Kelly, I prefer Weis' at least aesthetically. But Kelly's offense might grow on me. He hasn't had a starter that can really run his full playbook. Hendrix can probably run almost all of it, and he could start next year if Crist leaves. But more likely it'll be 2013 before we see the current true freshman that Kelly is really high on running everything Kelly wants to run.

  13. Why do you have to answer a direct question directly?
  14. I love that we have to pretend that academics are a driving factor in determining conference affiliation.
  15. He's a 5 on scout. And he'll be a d-lineman for ND.
  16. It's really going to temper those expectations when you start the season 0-2. ha, we'll see. i can't wait to ruin um's first night game. and another 5-star d-lineman commits to nd today.
  17. Are you going to try to join another board and then complain when I don't want to talk to you after you leave?
  18. That's a pretty terrible 1-line summary of that article.
  19. S Florida makes me nervous. I'm high on nd for the first time in a while but I wish we opened with someone like purdue. I'm excited to see these freshman ends though. Glad I only have to wait until 12:30 this year.
  20. Offseason over. Giddy up.
  21. I would be hard pressed to come up with 50 programs better than A&M (30 possibly but not 50) and it is a big rivalry game which makes it more important that everything but the marquee matchups. I bet Texas fans will grumble if Texas A&M is replaced by a Houston but there should still be enough Texas fans for it to not really affect their attendance. Comparable or better, I said. Houston wasn't one of the teams I had on mind. I only said Houston because they are one of the names rumored to be a possible replacement in the Big 12. If A&M got replaced with a California for example, I doubt the fans would be nearly as excited. They may be a comparable team but they are not that rival with the huge history behind it. For many Texas fans OU has become a bigger rival than Texas A&M, but the rivalry is still pretty big. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. The schedule isn't going to turn great bc of any 1 game. So add one of the other good programs to replace A&M and it makes no difference to Texas. They still are going to recruit the same and they're still going to have their season largely depend on the OU game. If a few fans are annoyed, big deal. After this little tantrums by A&M, you think Texas fans want to see the aggies on the schedule? I think Texas fans would definitely want the Aggies on the schedule after this. Are you saying that as an ND fan if USC did something like this that you would no longer want them on the schedule? To say the A&M game is the linchpin to Texas's season is really silly. To say that it makes no difference to Texas or their fans whether they play A&M is IMO also silly. That's all I'm saying. I mean, they each reference the other team in their fight songs! The history makes it a big game for many. And Michigan's fight song says they're in the west. Things change over decades.
