  1. I agree, if he's out for more than a few weeks we would have to have all the pitchers at 100% to get by. They need to make a move, but without doing anything dumb to cripple the farm system.
  2. The Pirates are probably ok with moving Craig Wilson, as all they have to do is call up Eldred. I wouldn't mind Wilson on the team at all. Only problem with Wilson is that his stock is so high right now. We should have gotten him the day after the bucs got Casey. He could have filled so many holes and pretty cheaply in terms of dollars and prospects.
  3. Stole my thunder vance. I was all over the randall simon train.
  4. But OBP and SLG are much more telling about a guys production. I highly doubt he'll be able to outproduce everybody in the game hitting .250, but it could happen, and if he did, he'd be the best. You can't just dog on him for the AVG, when it's not as important as other things. Production wasn't part of the debate. It was simply could Dunn be the best hitter in the game. And with his propensity for the strikeout, even though the big swing is where he gets his power, I don't think he will ever be considered the best hitter in the game, There are too many other guys with much higher BAs and similar power numbers that I would not want to see in an RBI situation.
  5. Why not? If he's the most productive then he's the best hitter. Hitting for a lower average makes it much much harder, but it doesn't exclude him. I think by definition it does. Being the best hitter would be getting a hit the highest % of the time. You think about guys considered to be the best hitters of all time (Ted Williams, Wade Boggs, Tony Gwynn) and they all had multiple batting titles and very high career BAs. What you're referring to is maybe better called most productive offensive player?
  6. Why is it lame, though. I think that EVERY town should claim to have the best fans. It's like Chicago saying "we have the best pizza". Obviously there's nothing to document that, but I don't have a problem with them saying it....... I wouldn't argue with them! First of all, chicago DOES have the best pizza in the world. A triple blind taste test performed by me proved it...undeniably. Well, for the record... according to Mike Shannon, St. Louis has PROVEN year after year that they are TBFIB. Not my words...his. Although, Mike Shannon has also said... "I wish you folks back in St. Louis could see this moon." "Well, he did everything right to get ready for the throw, but if ya ain't got the hose, the water just won't come out." "Our next homestand follows this road trip." "I've heard it said that if you know English, Spanish, Italian, and I think it's French, you can go just about anywhere in this world...except China where they have all those derelicts." Wow, that is spectacular.
  7. Dempster still gets the save even if he only gets one out right? The tieing or winning run has to be on deck, I think. That's only if the lead is more than 3 runs. 3 run or less lead and 1 out is a save.
  8. It helps when not many of them get on base to begin with. but barrett's game calling is so atrocious If you think Barrett is calling the pitches with Maddux on the mound you haven't been following baseball very closely.
  9. Nolan Ryan No, that was Robin Ventura stupidly chraging the mound and getting sufficiently pummelled by Nolan.
  10. Lee drilled one right back to the pitcher who caught it in self-defense Stupid pitchers with their stupid gloves and not wanting to get beaned in the head.
  11. Couldn't be happenning to a nicer guy!!!!
  12. That's what I've been rooting for since last week. The pen could use a day off. Throw Aardsma in there, get his feet wet.
  13. Isn't he a litle banged up right now though?
  14. I had the extreme pleasure of seeing Jones get 2 hits in one night. Unfortunately, he hasn't had one since. Or before that for that matter. Wow, he's bad. I don't think the hit and run with a guy who is struggling is that bad. forces him to concentrate and make some contact.
  15. That sounds tasty, get me one too, will ya?
  16. Can somebody do pbp? I'm stranded in the hell known as St. Louis and have no coverage.
  17. fixed Who is Jim Edmonds for 500, Alex. Enough with the Edmonds gay jokes already. Oh come on, they're harmless and completely tongue in cheek.....or, wait, no that would be inappropriate
  18. I thought it was a baseball game????????? \:D/
  19. Yahoo and mlb are really slow tonite. They still have Lee at the plate.
  20. Any ideas on who a replacement for Pagan will be? Theriot maybe?
  21. Thanks for the tix and I will enjoy.
  22. The guy they let score was around 15-20 feet from homeplate when the play was made in center field. I thinks it's pretty safe to assume my barely crawling 6 month old nephew could have made it to the plate by the time the guy got off his belly and made a throw. No reason to not let the run score in that particular situation.
