  1. There's enough other uncertainty with the roster that it wouldn't really surprise me if he didn't make the 26 man to keep the 40 man flexibility available until the domestic opener in AZ. Between Workman's need to be on the 26 and the glut of relievers they have to make decisions on, pushing that decision down the road as far as possible to be able to account for any injuries that happen between now and March 27th is valuable to the team in several ways.
  2. Nobody yet. They announced he's going, not that he'll be on the 26 man for the games.
  3. I'm not sure who to be pissed at, but the decision to keep Eberflus around after the 2023 season was really the thing killed the 2024 season.
  4. Eh, he was Happ not dropping the ball away from a nearly clean 3 innings.
  5. I'm of the same mind as MCF above. This makes me think they're leaning toward Jeanty in the 1st round with the interior mostly shored up already. If they sign Dalman, unless Abdul Carter somehow falls to them at 10 I'd almost be shocked if they didn't take Jeanty.
  6. I have a friend who's a big Kansas fan and he's been frustrated with them all season. Just a bunch of guys that don't really fit together. I'm kinda glad Storr decided to go there instead because he seems like a guy who just makes teams fall short of their potential.
  7. I think a lot depends on how healthy/effective Morez will be. They just don't have enough inside without him playing big minutes and taking some of the pressure off Ivisic. If he's back and at 85-90% of what he was before the injury, I think there's a much better chance of them surprising people.
  8. Yeah, looking back on a few of those games during the rough stretch they had you can absolutely tell they were dead from illness and injury. The effort has been much better, especially on defense and in the rebounding department the last couple games, plus the fact that Underwood wasn't losing his mind because of it tells me there was something else there he knew wasn't an effort based issue as it appeared from the outside. I kinda hope they get like a 6 or 7 seed because that makes the path to advancing past the first weekend much more palatable.
  9. But what about sliding into first?
  10. It has much less to do with interest than it does access. You can go to the park (or a rec center) and play one on one with a friend and a $20 basketball that will last for 5 years whereas you need a much larger group, more equipment that costs a lot more money, a field that needs a lot more maintenance, and decent weather to get in good baseball practice. Not to mention the fact that you almost have to be on a travel team to get exposed to decent competition in baseball and if you go to the park or the Y, there's a decent chance you'll run into a dude who is bigger, better, faster, and stronger than you to provide a better level of competition. It's just a completely different financial realm as JBears already pointed out.
  11. The reference to 3 managers and 2 GM/POBO roles being held by former Cubs employees was the key part there. As IMB says above, owners mostly aren't interested in winning if it costs money because that cuts into profits. There will of course be exceptions but it's not going to be the norm.
  12. He's lamenting the Cubification (Rickettsing?) of MLB and basically saying that they way they do business is the way of the future. His inability to use words aside, it's probably accurate and definitely gross. The organization does seem to have an outsized influence on the way things are being modeled in the rest of the non-NY/LA realm of MLB.
  13. You don't know that for sure. 😜
  14. He scoffs at your lack of faith. 😜
  15. Did we ever hear definitively if Alcantara is getting another option year?
  16. I was trying to see if there was a balaclava because that would 100% confirm it was him.

  18. Nah, they're 52 in KenPom and 55 in NET so that's not even close to a bad loss. Plus the way they do Quad 1 that loss is a Quad 1 loss since it was a top 75 team they played on the road.
  19. Yeah, it's way too old to be Fowler. After review, Pierre wore his pants much baggier so I don't think it's him now either, but I won't rule out an early 2000s guy yet. Johnson and McRae both have a few pics with high socks but it wasn't the norm for either. Lofton has zero pics with high socks in any uniform. CPatt was more muscular than this guy so I don't think it's him. I think I'm changing my mind to Felix Pie after further research.
  20. I mean, two pretty significant injuries derailed the tracks of both Canario and Kilian so I'm not sure that's a fair assessment.
  21. Lance Johnson is a solid guess. Too skinny for McRae though I think.
  22. 9-2 fielder's choice is a bit of an uncommon play.
  23. Yeah, he definitely had a bit of a belly last year that's gone.
  24. I'd bet it goes Happ, Seiya, Tucker, Busch, Dansby, Nico once everyone is healthy.
