  1. List of 16 Wake Forest Villanova Kansas Clemson Washington UCLA Arizona State LSU Illinois Xavier Missouri Purdue Gonzaga Marquette Syracuse Utah West Virginia List of 8 Arizona South Carolina Wisconsin Penn State Tennessee St. Mary's Texas A&M Boston College That's probably a terrible order but they all just blend together after that top 8.
  2. Why did we trade him again? Yeah, yeah, I know. Money blah blah blah.
  3. Vikings Who's gonna throw him the ball? I mean Orton is no superstar but at least he can get the ball to his receivers and who knows if he'd be better if he actually had some quality talent to throw to. Is Rosenfels that much of an upgrade over Jackson that TO would make a difference and be happy?
  4. The officiating was dog crap both ways all night. The out of bounds where Davis kicked it and UI got the ball, the traveling calls on Tisdale when he was getting mugged, and just generally very inconsistent on calling fouls all night. I thought the tending call was ok, UI got nailed for a worse one against MSU last Sunday. I just hope MSU beats Purdue this weekend so we don't have to play Sparty before the finals if we can get that far. A trip to the finals will help seeding, although I never really think getting a 4 or 5 seed is that great of a deal. I'd almost rather be a 6 because all the teams after about the top 6-7 are pretty equal and don't really scare me all that much.
  5. OU's case for a #1 seed rests entirely on how the committee treats the losses @Texas and to KU without Blake Griffin. But on your list I like MSU over both Louisville and Memphis. I'd probably favor MSU resume more than UConn's too. Not that the committee looks at it, but Pomeroy has Memphis as the #1 team in the country right now. It's a crime that they play their cupcake C-USA schedule and then get highly ranked and highly seeded in the tourney. I don't think they're any better than about 12-15 in the country right now but they haven't lost since the 1st Bush administration in conference so they keep climbing the rankings. If they played in the Big East, ACC, B10, or even the SEC as weak as it is this year, they'd have another 3-4 losses easily. Tough to get up for big games twice a week in those conferences where Memphis has like 3-4 decently tough games the entire conference schedule. I may be biased by my irrational hate of Calipari, but whatever.
  6. ACC -- (5): North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, Clemson, Florida State. Big East -- (7): UConn, Pitt, Louisville, Villanova, Marquette, Syracuse. Big Ten -- (4): Michigan State, Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota Big 12 -- (5): Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, OSU, Texas. Pac 10 -- (4): Washington, UCLA, Arizona State, Cal. SEC -- (2): LSU, South Carolina MWC -- (1): BYU. CUSA -- (2): Memphis, UAB. A-10 -- (1): Xavier. Horizon -- (1): Butler. WCC - (1): Gonzaga. MVC- (1): Creighton. That's 34 which should leave a couple open assuming some of these teams win their conference tournaments. Exile, I stole your format because I'm lazy.
  7. Not that I'm involved in this, but if things fall this way, after finding out Crabtree only has 1/2 inch and 10-15 pounds on Maclin, it would be asinine for the Bears to not take him at this spot. You can fill in OL later, but there aren't too many athletes better than him out there.
  8. It that on BTN?
  9. oh no we're getting smoked by a very good kansas team at the phog what a big surprise. i wonder if illinois would score 20 at kansas. Sensitive much? I'm sure UI would score at least 35-40. But KU sure wouldn't get much more than 50-60. I fail to understand why people who are fans of other conferences don't realize that scores are low in the B10 because teams play defense, and not because players are inept at putting the ball in the basket.
  10. Probably also helps greatly in getting batters out. A little distracting trying to pick which one to swing at.
  11. So, yeah, how about those Tigers? (Prays to self Illinois doesn't get creamed like this later today)
  12. I agree with whoever said Milwaukee would be a solid alternative. Minneapolis would be a good option if it was a little more centrally located.
  13. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a47/madhops_42/suckitbitches.jpg In one of OU's best years ever and a transitional year for UI. I'll take it, especially based on expectations at the beginning of the year. On the other hand, Capel seems to have his crap together and may be able to maintain a solid program at OU, so who knows.
  14. yes please to both, thank you I've never understood the struggles Garcia has had sticking with a team consistently. He's not a great QB, but he's been successful everywhere he's gone and he's got a career 61.6 completion % and a 2 to 1 career TD:INT ratio. He's never had success outside of the West Coast offense. That kind of limits the teams he can go to and be good. I think he's got what you referred to earlier as a problem as well-he's viewed as a short term option.
  15. I'd prefer they move somewhere near Daytona since my in-laws just bought a condo there.
  16. I'm planning on getting a regional sports package through Dish. I used to have MLB.TV (which was $80 or $90 for the year) but the package is $10 per month and I can get it for the six months of baseball season for a total of $60. I'll have to miss the WCIU games, but it's just eight games. You do realize that all the games will be blacked out on that package right? There's no way they allow that to be showed without paying for MLBEI.
  17. It doesn't come through in that article, but he's about as statistically inclined as any mainstream journalist I've come across. He regularly has guys like Joe Sheehan from BP on his radio show. He was a guy who wasn't upset about Miles or Kennedy leaving because they weren't high OBP guys. He used the "new-fangled' thing for effect most likely. And what's the issue with having a problem with LaRussa? He's a d-bag who thinks he's never been wrong and still vehemently denies that McGwire ever used steroids. I'd probably have a problem with the guy if I had to deal with him on a regular basis too.
  18. That's a whole lot more success for other teams than when they play fast (3 of their 4 losses, vs. 13-1 with >70). I wasn't saying that if you slow them down you win, but that a team that can do that successfully, like Illinois did earlier this season, is more likely to cause them problems than a team like Duke who wants to run up and down the court all night.
  19. I understand why they're ranked where they are, but it just shows what a joke the polls are. I mean, Duke lost twice last week and they're still in the top 10. A win over one of the supposed "big boys" just caries a lot more weight than it should. It also goes to show the lack of depth in the NCAA this year. There just aren't very many teams I would say are really good. Illinois is about where they should be, but Mizzou is way too high, mostly because the B12 is just so weak this year outside of the top 4 teams. The B10 doesn't have a great team, but there are a lot of good, solid, young teams from top to bottom with the exception of IU and Iowa. I tend to like Illinois' chances better in the tournament (depending on the draw of course) just because they have a little more consistent defense and Mizzou can be stopped if you put them into a half court game.
  20. Illinois up to 16 on the coaches poll and Mizzou inexplicably at 10!
  21. So you...of all people...are saying he doesn't look like an lf. How hilarious. How many times have you railed on scouts for using phrases like that and making assumptions like that? How many are there? I get your point, but at the most basic level physical stature is important. If he's some sort of latter day Hack Wilson, he'll be the first. Dan Uggla? He's a 2B, but the point still stands. He's a short power hitter who struggles with contact sometimes.
  22. So I forgot about this until reading back through this thread, but Greg Anthony is an idiot. IU wasn't playing a triangle and 2. They were man-to-man on 3 guys and the other 2 were playing a zone in the lane. The shot they showed where he made the triangle was stupid because as soon as they started moving, the guy in the bottom right went with his man up to the top of the key. Seriously, if you can't see that after playing basketball for 20+ years, you shouldn't be announcing. And good lord was that game ugly the last 10 minutes. UI will be so much better off when they have a lineup of guards who can actually knock down a 20 footer with some regularity.
  23. i think he felt really bad about winning. After all the wins he got screwed out of last because those guys couldn't do things most 7th graders can do, he should never, ever feel bad about winning any game, no matter how ridiculous it may have been. And I don't think I've ever seen that happen. The UCLA player just touched the ball while it was still in the player inbounding the ball's hands. And he got T'd up.
  24. My wife just yelled at me for all the loudness between the celebration of the victory and then the near tears from laughing so hard reading this thread
  25. That's been wide open for Trent all night, unfortunately he's apparently too dumb to see it.
