The 6th year he doesn't get from the Bulls he'll be paid for in the first year of his next contract. Like he said, it may only be $15 million at that point, but he'll still get a chunk of it back. Even without the CBA/extra year gamble, the AAV of the contract is higher, right? He can't get that money back. Yeah, but again, he'll get a chunk of that money back. And if the option is Chicago with Rose, Bosh, Deng, and Noah along with being around your kids a lot more vs Miami with Bosh and 2,00 miles from your kids, I don't know that the ~$15 million difference is all that much when you're already guaranteed over $100 million. But that's just me, and I'm not sure I can even fathom what $30M would really be like, let alone $100M.
