  1. I just looked it up on youtube because I have a slight fascination with gruesome injuries. Holy god, that was jaw droppingly horrible.
  2. You can't possibly say this with a straight face. Especially after seeing how completely awful the Bears are when Cutler isn't at QB. They may not be all time greats, but you can't afford to not have a QB who isn't at least pretty good. They're hard to find, and once you do have one, you can't afford to let them go. It may be overpaying, but that's a position you can't afford to go cheap and get a league average performance if you want to win big. Even when these guys are average during the year, most of them getting paid are guys who've won in the playoffs.
  3. Did I miss him having a bad angle to the rim or was that the stupidest play in the history of basketball?
  4. I first heard about it with regard to the Bulls in '96. I mean, it's come up a lot That's exactly why I knew about it. What did they run off, like 19 in a row I think?
  5. Hideous in real life while watching the MSU game the other day we were talking about how unattractive she is....yet somehow kind of appealing. I think it has something to do with the air of willingness she kind of gives off. Ha! That's about the cleanest way you can put that. There is a certain something about her that's really tough to pinpoint though.
  6. Isn't this a pretty damn good deal for the {redacted}? I mean, the Tigers just gave Anibal Sanchez 5/80, right? If Wainwright doesn't miss a season's worth of time I doubt they'll have huge regrets, but Wainwright's injury history is far from clean and he's 32 this year, so they're taking on their share of risk. To compare with a teammate that has a similar background, Chris Carpenter missed his age 28 season with TJS(Wainwright missed age 29). The 5 years starting with his age 31 season, he threw 670 IP and accumulated 13.7 fWAR. Very good when healthy, but not healthy as much as you'd like. I don't think you can really compare Wainwright and Carpenter since one had a relatively commonly successful elbow surgery and Carpenter came back from a much less frequently successful shoulder surgery. Also, Wainwright had problems with the elbow for years before the complete tear and was very effective. Given how well he came back in his first season after TJS and didn't seem to have any lingering effects from it, I don't think he's any more of a risk than signing any pitcher to a $20M/year deal would be.
  7. The day after his last game will be a great day. He and Buck are insufferable, especially when doing Cards games.
  8. Am I an idiot, or is that actually 101 years/seasons?
  9. Speaking of these guys, is it a rule that US keepers can't have hair? :D
  10. Looks like they brought in the Big 10 hoops refs for tonight.
  11. Can we get Guzan to play safety for the Bears?
  12. MLS journeyman, Alejandro Moreno. Tell him I hate him. Yeah, he's bad. What's with the midget douche on the corner kick?
  13. Really good recruiting class and plenty of playing time available to give them. Couple of transfers to ease the process somewhat, and Abrams/Egwu/Bertrand/Henry return from the rotation. Biggest challenge will be to see where the scoring comes from early on. I'm most concerned about outside shooting. Henry can shoot, Abrams is okay, but unless somebody shows up able to knock down threes, it could be a long season on the offensive end. Egwu developing a bit more should help, but there's a lot of holes to fill.
  14. That's definitely something I've heard from the Kentucky fans about him. He just wasn't very interested in getting out there for either recruiting or fan stuff and that really rubbed a lot of their fans the wrong way.
  15. I'm not a big fan of Tubby, but what the hell do the people in Minnesota expect? They've been better since he's been there than they've been since the glory days of Voshon Leonard.
  16. I don't recall that being something that was expressed here. There were concerns, yes, especially after the disaster the football season was with a similar coaching hire. I think most, myself included, were hopefully optimistic considering the combination of his recruiting successes and the consistent uptick in wins at Ohio. Nobody was jumping up and down excited, but I don't recall many ready to jump off a bridge about it. Someone called it a disaster and someone else wanted Frank Martin. The former is an over reactor and the latter is a moron.

  18. Up front? Probably very few. But that's what bonds are for right? And like David said, they just got $100 million from Mesa for a complex occupied by major leaguers 1 month out of the year.
  19. Tom Coverdale. Annoying IU guard from the improbably final four run under Mike Davis.
  20. SOMEONE GOT FAAAAAAAAT Yeah, I had to look at the picture details to make sure that's who it was because he's nearly unrecognizable at George Foreman weight.
  21. Same here. This really does clear the path even more for OSU too. I have them, MSU, IU and Kansas in the Final Four.
  22. Um, yeah, they kind of were. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1623962 Okay, you go ahead with that theory. Again, take the pitcher and I'll take the hitter and I will win a lot more than you. Generally I agree with you, just not in this specific case with the facts in hand at the time of the draft.
  23. Yeah, this is pretty much how I feel. Most of their awfulness can be attributed to astronomically bad QB play and a coach who has now proven to be incompetent as a head coach on several occasions. Most teams in the league would lave to have the o line, WR, and RB combo they have.
  24. Um, yeah, they kind of were. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1623962
  25. Yep, the guy that I was basing my pick on played like complete crap. Bucknell's big man couldn't get that little lefty hook to drop all game and it screwed me.
