  1. Except for that whole not getting on base thing, I guess.
  2. Yeah, the strikeout pitch to Andrus got that classic "Oh crap!" reaction it used to when the batter thinks it's going to hit them and it drops right over the plate for a strike.
  3. It's still Tuesday here by the way, so he died today for us normal people.
  4. Hopefully Ian Stewart shows signs of life and we don't have to worry about any more bums buying themselves any amount of time. We're stuck with one of the bums (Ransom or Gonzalez) even after Stewart comes back. I think the real question is when we get to DFA you.
  5. If the Mets dangle D'arnaud and Wheeler or the Rangers include Profar then no. Or the Cardinals could trump everyone and offer Taveras and a combination of Rosenthal/Martinez/Wacha/Miller No way they offer up Taveras+ for Stanton. They think he's a superstar in the making and they've got that many more years of control at a relatively cheap price.
  6. Because there's a limit on how long a position player can stay down in the minors on a rehab assignment (15 days/games I think and 30 for a pitcher?) without having to have options available, which Stewart doesn't.
  7. Disappointing. Those skirts are so tantalizingly short!
  8. I don't except your logic here. He used the right one.
  9. Wow, this is an amazing finish. Helluva putt by Scott to get the lead and then the ice water in the veins approach shot by Cabrera. Unreal.
  10. How are we going to get a few competent late-inning relievers? And when exactly is Garza coming back? And why should we believe he won't just get hurt again a month later? In theory, a guy or two in the current rotation can slide to the pen and provide a little more consistency. Garza should be back the 1st or 2nd week of May. He's right, the offense hasn't been terrible this week, and they certainly should have capitalized on it better than they have, especially this series where they could have won every game with a little less mental midgetry.
  11. Kind of shitty that some unbelievably bad luck on an amazing shot probably costs Tiger the tournament or at least a great shot at the win down the stretch.
  12. I'm no hockey expert, but the Hawks look really sloppy to me today.
  13. I like our chances between Amaya, Hernandez, Bruno, Torreyes, Alcantara, and Watkins. Did I forget anyone? Devoss? Hasn't he been kicked to the OF pretty much full time?
  14. Blake Lalli is currently playing first base for the Brewers.
  15. Yeah, watching Gameday it looked like the worst of the 3 pitches was the one that got called a strike. On the other hand, it's looked like pitches on the black haven't been getting called strikes all day either.
  16. I thought Marmol wasn't the closer any more?
  17. What part of his 32 HR, 108 RBI, and .821 OPS from last year did you have a problem with?
  18. Man, talk about a huge defensive replacement. I have serious doubt as to whether Clevenger and Valbuena would have turned that.
  19. He's throwing a helluva game. Very efficient too. How many pitches? 83 thru 7.
  20. He's throwing a helluva game. Very efficient too.
  21. Well, a lot of players won't win rings. Also, I'm not sure an overtime loss in Chicago against what is still a good Bulls defense with someone named Chris Copeland starting elicits a "don't tell me the Knicks are contenders" post. That was kind of a throw away game last night for both teams. No Chandler or Martin for the Knicks and no Taj or Noah for the Bulls. It was fun to watch a wide open game with no big men clogging the lane though. To your larger point, I don't think the Knicks can win because they rely entirely too much on outside shooting and will have a tough time getting easy baskets against good defensive teams in the playoffs because of the lack of inside scoring and not much of a threat when it comes to fast break points.
  22. Nice crotch grab?
  23. What a weird thing to say. He's the basketball equivalent of sugar. It's tastes good and will give you an energy fix but it's not nutritionally valuable for health or a viable fuel for any meaningful amount of time. The Knicks, Celtics, Thunder, Warriors and soon the Bulls agree with me. He's the physical manifestation of the Bulls punting a year and while that was the right thing to do, it's not something that inspires me as a fan. He's a valuable guy to have on your team for instant offense. He's a guy you use on a sporadic basis when he's having a good game. He's hot, play him. He's not, he sits. They don't have that luxury with Rose out, so he plays a lot. Hence the live by the Nate, die by the Nate we've seen pretty routinely in this thread.
  24. it's working fine for me. I got it on the lap top, but it won't load on my phone. Audio is usually blocked at work, got lucky today.
