  1. Um, Kansas is having some issues it would appear.
  2. His tear ducts are probably jacked up like Olt's were and other people in this thread have mentioned. I think he was going for something else there. Ah, yes, got it on a second read....

  4. You should be plenty amped about seeing baseball in person in March where it's 80 degrees and sunny all the time.
  5. That was a hell of a pass.
  6. I think they may have passed the point of toying and are just about to take a dump on the Dookies. Which I'd be fine with since I don't have them getting past the Sweet 16.
  7. Yes and no. If you want elite talent, your odds of getting it in the first few picks are quite a bit higher than getting it anywhere else. But with a great organization like the Cardinals, you can get a pretty steady stream of note-quite-elite but really useful talent. And you can then trade that really useful talent for a guy like Matt Holliday when they're on the block, making it unnecessary to develop your own superstars. It's certainly much easier to do that when you're filling a hole here or there instead of trying to put together an entire lineup from the suck that has been on the ML roster the last couple of years.
  8. Well, my brackets are now screwed because NC State and OU can't perform the simplest act in the game of basketball. Idiots.
  9. Well, they were kind of screwed in that situation because they had no timeouts left. You steal the ball instead of fouling there and you're going to be trying to score without him on the floor. Not the best way to handle it, I agree, but I can see the strategy.
  10. Oklahoma is getting hosed on both ends by the refs. Late fouls being called, missed a couple obvious travels on NDSU, and letting them really bang on the defensive end.
  11. Man, I almost made Harvard my 5-12 upset special but I just couldn't quite make myself pull the trigger on it. Oh well, I got the other 3 right so far.
  12. Me? I'm agreeing with SSR. Though that may be poorly conveyed in that post.
  13. Honestly, I cannot fathom how anyone could come to these conclusions. You must lead a difficult life. Well the first item is essentially a fact so it can't be THAT unfathomable And as always I'll never understand why having a viewpoint on the cubs that is negative speaks to anything about a persons life. It's called "goony money" for a reason #2 is the only one of those that's even questionably believable, and he may well have believed that based on his own fandom. The rules also changed pretty significantly w/r/t the draft and kept Theo et al from working their particular brand of magic as they had previously.
  14. I think the fear of not getting the team if the structure of the purchase was to be more favorable was a bigger factor for them than having more agreeable terms. I'd bet that there would have been more potential buyers if the debt structure had been relaxed a bit.
  15. You shut your dirty mouth. Olt is gonna hit .275 with 30 HR, Castro will be his old .300/.350 self, Rizzo will hit 35 HR and Javy is going to come up in May and OPS .900 the rest of the way.
  16. Did he just say Wood is a fine prospect?
  17. For some reason I was surprised he hits lefty. Also, he looks like he belongs in A ball after that AB.
  18. Jimenez sounds to me like the only guy who is toolsy enough to get that kind of hype. The other guys all have top 20-30 potential, but I don't think any of them really have the Javy Baez it factor.
  19. Because they could never offer near as much as teams like LA and NY, just like in all the other sports?
  20. I would not mind checking in on the price. Also it looks like the Phillies are trying to trade Jimmy Rollins before the season starts. The Tigers make sense as a trade partner there. I could also see the Yankees, because of course. Would Alcantara be a good place to start with PIT?
  21. I think Michigan is the exact kind of team Louisville will struggle with because they shoot it so well. All that defensive pressure will lead to open looks from 3 and Michigan will knock a lot of those down.
  22. Most of that was built in the 3 week hot stretch when he first came up and his peripherals were awful. So yeah, wanting to see somebody else get a shot until he shows some improved plate discipline isn't unreasonable.
  23. They should have tried to get the games at Huff (is that still where the women play?). That would have been good to have it on campus and even with small crowds it could have gotten loud.
  24. I watched a bit of it. My guess is Mooseheart is some sort of religious school that can recruit players. And that is not fair and the IHSA needs to address this at some point. edit: Just looked it up. Mooseheart looks to be a small town in the south suburbs. I stand corrected. Still not sure recruiting is not going on though. The three big dudes are kids who came over from somewhere in Africa and happened to end up there. I'm not sure if it was completely on the up and up, but a similar thing happened to me when I was in high school with the entire Yugoslavian U-18 national team ending up in northern Illinois at various schools.
  25. Well, first, they were a team that was pegged to be one of the top 2 or 3 from the beginning of the year and haven't been healthy enough to make that a reality all year. I think they're getting a pass for the first few games those guys were back because they hadn't played together much. You throw in how good they looked against everybody this week in the BTT, especially the last 2 games against Wisky and Michigan, I think it's a reasonable position to take, especially when you add in the coaching cache that Izzo brings.
