  1. They look faster to me tonight than they have the rest of the series. I thought the same thing last year for the first few games against Detroit and then they started looking faster to me. No idea if I have any idea what I'm talking about, but that's what I see.
  2. The game would be over with a Cubs win if Castro could have picked up a grounder and stepped on 2nd. Veras isn't coming anywhere near the closer role for a while, plus Rondon or Grimm will get a shot before he does.
  3. Yep, definitely. The only other guy I really trust down there to do it is Rondon and he'll probably get the 8th like on Monday.
  4. I'm liking this recent trend of the opposing pitcher being at/near 100 pitches in the 6th inning. Shark throwing around 12 pitches per inning and I think Hammel was at a pretty low number yesterday before throwing a bunch in his last 2 innings.
  5. I bet Lee Smith could still get some guys out if he worked out for a couple months.
  6. Man, these are some late, late whistles on these foul calls on both ends. And Kirk blows it. Nice.
  7. This is partly Thibs fault. You can't play these guys as many minutes as he has in a playoff game and expect them to have any legs to finish the game, especially when you don't have a guy who can just take the ball and get it done on his own.
  8. No kidding. I'm starting to remember what it feels like to watch an ML team with a chance to win every night out. Can we play these guys about 30 more times?
  9. I love JD. "And doing all this without Travis Wood in the lineup tonight." Is Putz one of their better relievers still?
  10. That would be funnier if we didn't have a less than great outlook ourselves.
  11. He has the best non-offensive bat flips on top of it.
  12. Castro has been really good defensively so far this year.
  13. Yeah, mine plays for maybe 10 minutes, starts getting choppy and completely shuts down after about 25 minutes or so. I've started watching on my tablet because of it and couldn't even do that the other night because the app was having problems. Couple nice plays by Olt but I sure wish he'd start hitting a little bit.
  14. I have no problem with people mentioning when he pitches and generally shaming him for it at every opportunity, because they should, but what do they expect MLB to do about it? He was in the minors when it happened, it was 6 years ago and he served his time for it. I'm in no way shape or form excusing his behavior, but there's only so much MLB can do when he's gone through the courts to decide the matter.
  15. Huh? Hard to tell if it's 3.03 or 3.83.
  16. These games are much more enjoyable to watch when the other team is terrible.
  17. I don't ever remember the Cubs picking up a Rule 5 guy that worked out. Is Rondon the first in the last 15 or so years?
  18. Somebody explain to me why that was a penalty.
  19. Len said something the other day about it being easier for him to get loose coming off the injury in Daytona since it's warmer.
  20. Any idea when/if this thing will get rolling?
  21. That's bad and I would look down on anybody who wore it. But it is St. Louis, so I say go for it.
  22. I'm not 100% convinced he wouldn't fare better than Olt has if he was brought up today.
