  1. It happened. Kind of off the end of the bat but still a well hit ball, especially for him.
  2. Whoever said he was throwing everything the same speed is nuts. FB is low 90s, slider is around 83-84 and the curve has been in the mid to upper 70s.
  3. We'll this Holmberg cat is clearly terrible, but this is way more fun than game 1.
  4. You get out of here with your fancy facts.
  5. Seriously, give him like another 2 weeks and send him to Iowa, then get his ass to Chicago ASAP to see if he can hit now. That may lessen the need for adding an OF in the offseason. Yes, I know this is completely unrealistic but he's Cuban and therefore should be awesome when he gets to the majors by proxy. In all honesty, he's probably seen as good or better pitching than he's seeing now when he was playing professionally in Cuba. Not every day, but certainly enough guys who are either talented or old and crafty to have developed a bit better approach than most guys in his age bracket and situation.
  6. Probably because he is lighting his bong.
  7. This is exactly why I'd shy away from moving them unless you get a ridiculous offer from somebody. You know you're not going to see Baez or Bryant in Chicago on opening day and to keep from having yet another disaster of a start, you've got to have some respectable bodies to throw out there until they are brought up. Ruggiano less so than Luis, but that's contingent on signing at least one actual ML OF in the off season.
  8. You put in your email and then you type a 5 digit sequence as many times as you want. Pretty simple.

  11. not really. you just type in your email and birthdate and click vote And I'm not sure what the vote limit is, but I haven't hit it yet.
  12. What's the record for most in a minor league season?
  13. You never know with judges, but they could potentially get an injunction to stop anything from happening, which I think they've already done at some point. I'm not sure how much luck they'd have, but it's certainly a possibility.
  14. I see where you went wrong. Most of the people I'm friends with are reasonably intelligent, but they are complete idiots when it comes to understanding these things.
  15. I'm in a FB debate with a guy who was encouraging his TBFIB friends to vote for Molina. I translated it for him to say "Vote for a player who hasn't even been close to the best at his position this year". Then he says the Cubs will only get a guy in because of the every team rule so I pointed out the awesomeness thus far of Rizzo, Castro, Shark, Hammel, and Arrietta. He replies with "No Cubs anywhere near the top of the voting". This is the idiocy I deal with on a daily basis.
  16. So have we signed anybody yet?
  17. Well, you don't draft a guy like Marco Gonzalez and worry about arbitration/super 2 considerations. Doesn't change my wistfulness :( I'm more wistful of those sexy numbers he's putting up. Almost 11k/9 and K/BB of almost 5. Looks like he's not ready for prime time yet based on his 2 starts so far.
  18. Me too. That was my exact reaction. I can't imagine the thoughts running through LD's head at that moment. Something like "I've buried that chance 1,000 times in my life"?
  19. I think he'd probably just take a QO considering it'll be almost 3 times what he's making this year.
  20. Unfortunately it's only because Boston's offense is worse than ours right now. But god forbid Shark be considered good enough to pitch in the AL East.
  21. He would have helped support when Clint got pushed up top, but he doesn't do what Jozy does. I'm sure the experts can give a more detailed answer.
  22. Great drafts, excellent player development and wise FA spending can only keep you a contender for so long. Well, the pixie dust has worn off a bit and they've stopped hitting better than anyone in the history of ever with RISP, they've got 3 of 6 starters on the shelf right now and a bit of a depleted pen because of some recent short outings by the guys who are healthy, so yeah, you're pretty much right.
  23. I thought it was kind of funny. He knew he wasn't getting anything to hit, why wait around. Also, yay, we're winning!
  24. Messi has some pretty other worldly feet, but I generally agree with you. It's a game where so much depends on your feel for it and playing a lot as a kid with good coaching is really where a lot of that develops.
