  1. Rasmus is basically all over the map. But his downside is what we can expect from Chris Coghlan. His upshot is a hell of a lot better than that. He shouldn't cost too much in years or dollars, so the risk is minimal. Yeah, bring him in. Let Maddon see if he can figure out how to squeeze the most from him. Based on what I've heard about his time down here, Maddon sounds like the kind of manager that would work well for Rasmus. He seems like a guy who's more likely to respond to a hug than a kick in the ass, which is all it ever seems the Cards were willing to give him when captain hard ass Chris Carpenter and Pujols were the tone setters in their locker room.
  2. It's the old Ken Stabler rule. He fumbled it forward at the end of a game, it was recovered by one of his guys in the end zone for a touchdown. The rule has evolved over the years, but that's why it's in place.
  3. Joique Bell or Legarrette Blount
  4. This is just.......I don't even know. Why would you get rid of one of them? There's a ton of different ways to use them all depending on match ups and on top of that, you've got guys in Noah and Gibson who go so hard every time out there that they get banged up and need rest. It would be asinine to get rid of one of them, especially right now.
  5. Are there fans of other teams that are also stuck in this dilemma? Where they don't get the local broadcast but are still blacked out of Extra Innings and MLB.TV? Have we just been lucky because games have been on WGN my whole life? No, you're unlucky now because of WGN. All the other teams have a regional sports network like Comcast that all of their games are on instead of the split schedule the Cubs have, and people not in the immediate area but still in blackout zones get that channel.
  6. Well, that wasn't the question. It was why would we give up so much for a guy who, while really good, isn't Mike Trout. He's essentially JD Drew as far as I can tell. And while that's a really good player, I don't see why we'd be willing to give up as many players who are as good/potentially as good as they are.
  7. What's the fascination with Harper? He's good and he's young, but I don't see anything he does that's super elite to have everybody gushing over him and willing to give up players that are better than he is (Rizzo).
  8. And JR Towles.
  9. Dunno who this guy is, but sign all the players, Theo Holy [expletive], that would be amazing.
  10. Right, they could do that via some of the substations they've been having the WCIU games on. A lot of affiliates outside of the Chicago local area but in the Cubs market picked them up last year. The problem is DirecTV/Dish don't carry the substations (KCRG 9.2 around here for example) like cable companies do. So everyone in the Cubs market that has a dish package would be frozen out totally. No they won't. A simple $30 over the air box will get you those stations and most newer TVs have that capability built into them now too.
  11. Does it matter that Kemp's been playing in enormous parks out west and half his games in Wrigley might help that a bit?
  12. If they do they will likely eliminate conference championship games That's a terrible idea all around. Eliminate a non-conference game and keep the championship games. The 5 conference champs and 3 at large get in.

  14. Graham has caught 3 passes for 25 yards in the last 2 weeks, so you may be worried about nothing. But I have him starting this week anyway because it's the Bears.
  15. The player was Taiwan Easterling I believe, can't remember the poster. I prefer the Travis Garcia guy lecturing us for never being in the hotbox. Pastor Tom something or other was the poster.
  16. Isn't a win worth like $7M on the open market these days? So all he needs to do is be a 6 win player over the next 3 years to live up to that. For the non-prospects it sounds like are being given, seems pretty reasonable to me. And I'm not completely sold on the pitch framing stuff, at least not to the extreme it's being described between him and Castillo.
  17. Kinda where I'm at Yeah, me too. I can't get excited about this deal and, prospects aside, it seems like a lot to pay a guy who isn't substantially better than what the Cubs already have. So are you all just completely disregarding all the pitch framing stuff? I'm not buying 100%, but there has to be something to it, even if it's not the gigantic divide the stats make it seem like it is between these two.
  18. As I recall, Bauer's makeup issues are fairly well documented, as well as much of the reason why he was shipped out of AZ. Well, Towers did a lot of dumb things, so that may not be a real thing. Agree on the make up/have to do things his way stuff though.
  19. That's not the word. I assumed that was on porpoise it was so bad.
  20. I wonder if that's directly related to no more steroids and guys having a tougher time catching up to inside FBs, especially late in the season.
  21. I could give a crap about the pick itself, but the financial flexibility having it affords them in doing what they did last year and using the extra slot money to get additional high upside guys later is the big downside of it for me. I'd just as soon avoid that decision altogether and get Lester and be done with it.
  22. This was my issue. I had the most points scored against in the entire league. Oh, guess what, I also had the highest score in the league this week. Based on ESPN seeding, I was #7 and the commissioner re-seeded based on head to head because 3 of us were 6-7 and I lost out. #6 in total points, #7 seed, and nothing to show for it. I think if I win the losers bracket I at least get my money back though.
