  1. I'm watching the end of the Cards-Mets game hoping to see the Mets pull this out and Dan McLaughlin, douchey Cards play by play guy, starts making fun of the surroundings of Citi Field. I'm almost tempted to tweet him and ask him what he thought about the fenced in lake and dirt pile that was outside of Busch for like 8 years. Moran.
  2. That was a very uncharacteristic panic/we don't like this guy move by the Cards. I didn't get it when they did it and it certainly doesn't look any better now. My biggest problem with it was the fact that they were relying on Wacha and Wainwright for big innings and both were coming off injuries and the only backup they had were unproven or injury risk guys.
  3. The complete and utter lack of effort once things started going downhill in that game didn't make that clear to you? Because that was exactly what that looked like to me. And I think this is the single biggest reason why it went bad.
  4. It's pretty clear they've reached the Doug Collins/Larry Brown/Scott Skiles point where players have just stopped listening and a change needs to be made. Not necessarily anyone's fault, but Thibs is just one of those guys that will have a short shelf life no matter where he goes unless he changes his approach a bit.
  5. It's an amazing difference being able to put pressure on other teams and watch them make mistakes. The guys at the top of the lineup are just seeing so damn many pitches that by the 3rd and 4th games of a series, their arms are shot and we get the crappy pen arms and eat them alive. 2 runs in the 8th without a single hit? Just awesome.
  6. Is somebody on the staff just amazing at teaching these guys to steal? It's amazing how often they're successful with guys who aren't even remotely fast.
  7. Not to mention the fact that they're already nearly guaranteed a short outing when Martinez goes out there. That pen is going to get run into the ground and while it may not have an immediate effect, in July their arms will be toast and that's when it'll rear it's ugly head.
  8. He's occasionally on sports radio down here and is such a raging douche. A perfect representative of TBFIB. Just pulling cliches about nearly everything out of his ass about anything and everything. He and HR are probably best buds.

    Baez

Yeah, UZR has liked Russell in a limited sample and part of his troubles are certainly due to lack of familiarity with 2B, but at the same time we've seen Russell straight kick several balls and I haven't seen any huge displays of range that scream "SS playing 2B" either. The biggest problem with finding a place for Baez to play, is that it's a little difficult to go back if you move Bryant to the OF for any extended stretch. He needs 3B reps if he's going to stick there, and while I'm not entirely opposed to having Bryant meet his future today, it's also sacrificing his value if he can be passable there. It can be a worthy sacrifice if Baez hits, but it's a tricky balancing act to actually execute. Why do we give a crap about Bryant's value? If moving him to LF gets all the best bats in the lineup and at the same time suppresses his value, that seems like a win-win because they'll end up paying less in arbitration. It's not like they're going to be trying to trade him or something.
  10. Noah is done. He can't shoot a [expletive] 3 footer even.
  11. These late whistles are such a [expletive] joke.
  12. Why can't we see Brooks, Rose and Jimmy on the floor together? Scoring is very clearly the biggest issue and that would help a ton, at least in short stretches.
  13. Szczur getting to 3rd was a pretty important part of that inning playing out the way it did. I'm willing to give Joe the benefit of the doubt on that one.
  14. So there's another cool thing happening in that game besides Holliday being out.
  15. It clearly doesn't account for all of that number, but I would think Fowler hitting leadoff and getting a guy's first sequence of pitches when he's not fully into the game yet might be a contributor. I wonder if other guys see a bump up in the number of balls they see in the 1 spot vs. others in the lineup.
  16. I think 10/$150 might not be terribly unpalatable for either side. Figuring about $60 million might buy out the arbitration years (including this year) and then tack on the rest for the final 3 years.
  17. Stop this nonsense. It's entirely too early and there are potential reinforcements on the way. No to mention having a little patience with guys who have performed in the past.
  18. Not sure if it's related to your problem but mine froze for about a minute. Probably not, this has been a consistent issue and it's really annoying. I'm almost sure it's my BluRay but have no idea how to fix it since I've installed all the updates available.
  19. espn.com has him at .276/.417/.460 Weird, that's not what fangraphs says I don't think Fangraphs updates as fast as ESPN Why would the one that updates faster be lower after he just hit a HR?
  20. Anybody else having an issue with MLBTV or is it just my BluRay on the fritz?
  21. I'm late, but I finished this off tonight after making it Saturday. Can't get anything decent around here so I make my own.
