  1. God, baseball is so much fun when they're good.
  2. Yeah, I'm not sure if this strategy is some sort of new fangled keep them healthy plan, but it doesn't matter if the pitchers are hurt if you lost too many games before August for it to effing matter. That's twice in the last 4 games Maddon has pulled a pitcher with a PC in the 80s and not struggling and it's burned him.

The arguments involving Hendry always forget that he was told to do whatever necessary (spend money, trade prospects, etc) to build a winning team at the ML level. When the Cubs failed in 2010-2011, the minor league assets had been used to stock the ML roster. Theo & CO. took over and traded the ML assets that Hendry left to restock the minors. Obviously 2010-2014 has proven that building "dual fronts" is a hard concept regardless of who is in the FO. Hopefully we will see a contending team at the ML level and a solid ml system for the next 5+ years. That just means he was bad at his job, which was to build a winning team. He may have been told everything you say he was, but he also had a responsibility to not completely ignore the minors and player development. He did ignore it and it resulted in complete crap once veterans got old and there was no one to fill the void.
  4. It's no Elia, but it's solid (BP is Bryan Price, btw):
  5. Welp, they got fucked twice on that play.
  6. When during this season has it resulted in RBI by the 9th batter? Like Len is currently saying, this has zero to do with the move. It's about getting more RBI chances for your 1-3 hitters when they come around the next time.
  7. Man, he's seen nearly nothing to hit since he came up. They fear the power already.
  8. I don't think there's anybody else on the roster that can play even a remotely ok CF right now either.
  9. So who's the back up CF if Alcantara is sent down? Does Salad come back up?
  10. You shouldn't be. Velocity was up, location was better today. I think he's nearing end of spring training sharpness now and the next month he'll be really good.
  11. Rondon, Strop, and Rosscup are not options today, so you're got Schlitter, Coke, Germen, Motte, and Jaxon to get you through the game. None of those are terrific options, and considering the circumstances you'd want to maximize your chance at a double play, which is Schlitter all the way. nope don't argue with the logic fingers guy Likely wouldn't be in this situation if Maddon had left Hendricks in for more than 80 pitches yesterday. Hell, they might have won in 9 and used a whole lot fewer relievers in the process. That was a head scratcher for me yesterday.
  12. See you guys over in the hockey thread. Ick.
  13. Yeah, I'm gonna cut him some slack for not swinging at a 97 mph heater that may or may not have been a strike on the inside corner.
  14. Bryant is a lot better than I expected on the bases. He's made a couple really good reads the last 2 days.
  15. I've said man, he's taking a while to myself a couple times now and then he guns the guy by a step or two. Definitely has a big arm.
  16. Rizzo dropping his glove was pretty brilliant.
  17. Man, I'm loving Fowler so far. He does so many really good things. 8 pitch AB to start the game. Soler!
  18. That's a sweet early 90s style perm he's rocking.
  19. That looked like the $156 million pitcher. Encouraging to see the location and velocity on the K of Kemp.
