  1. No it's not. There is never, ever any reason to wreck a kids childhood with that sort of schedule at that age. If he's going to be a great swimmer, he'll be a great swimmer regardless of the extra work. In fact, in a sport like swimming, you're probably stunting his ability to truly be great by working him that hard that young. Kids should be kids and play every sport they want to growing up and not specialize like many are forced to at such young ages. If they truly have an exceptional aptitude for a particular sport, it'll be very obvious without all that extra work. Now, once they hit high school and have figured out what that sport is, go for it and specialize, but it's so much better for developing bodies to not have that wear and tear on a particular set of muscles/ligaments/tendons by constantly exerting them by playing one sport all the time.
  2. Apparently they think Grichuk can handle CF full time?
  3. Honestly, the Olt injury probably screwed them in this as much as it may help them defend the way they handled it. I'll be very surprised if anything other than future CBA bargaining comes out of this.
  4. Didn't they just sign the interim guy to a 2 year deal? By the way, I'd absolutely be in favor of that move.
  5. If only Brian Kelly had already [expletive] lost a game this year in large part because he went for 2 well before he needed to. ND is playing the most dominant offensive game I've seen in a really long time, and they're going to be down by 6 in about 45 seconds. Unbelievable. I didn't see the first half, but how is a team that can rush for 8 YPC losing? Completely unable to be productive in the red zone. Just bad.
  6. I hate the decision to go for two by ND there this early in the 2nd half. Too many weird things can happen to make not getting that point a factor.
  7. Young guys who thought it was their turn to shoot. Gottlieb nailed it talking about the awful shot selection.
  8. And has also punched himself in the face during a fight.
  9. Considering they're not hitting those but are nailing the wide open ones because ISU is apparently allergic to playing defense, I'd think you'd be happy about those.
  10. Especially not if Contreras is involved. Ew.
  11. Yes, what TT said. I don't think everyone is nearly as cognizant as they need to be of how ridiculously healthy the rotation stayed all season. You just can't count on that to continue and there have to be contingency plans. Two legit mid level guys plus depth, while not flashy, is likely a better idea than one big name and filler after that, at least in the near term.
  12. http://www.nola.com/recruiting/index.ssf/2015/11/les_miles_tenure_at_lsu_may_be.html#incart_sms_app I'd take him and all his baggage if he'd coach at Illinois. In a heartbeat. That place is such a dumpster fire right now though, I'm not sure even dump trucks full of cash make it happen.
  13. That's a hell of an effort from MSU there. They just dominated the LOS all day long. And I loved the kicker's celebration at the end.
  14. Well, damn. Google steered me wrong. I looked and the first couple articles that popped up had it spelled that way. I'm apparently a moron.
  15. "change a scenery" and boast instead of boost multiple times. Moran.
  16. que? It wouldn't take it until I spelled it with one t, which is wrong.
  17. Nice job spelling Arrietta wrong you dolt.
  18. True, but Cueto is also kind of the anti-Jaxon. He annually out-ERA's his FIP and xFIP. He also managed to pitch 210+IP in 3 of the last 4 years. This is the big thing for me with any pitcher we get. No more of this 5, maybe 6 inning stuff. I get why it worked that way last year, but I don't like it.
  19. If there is someone you want to see a particular post You mean, like, if you wanted to forward a post to somebody to make sure they saw it? Why? Can't you just pm them? No, like if he was making a grumpy old man post he could tag you and you'd get a notification so you'd see it. The same thing that is currently accomplished by PM'ing a link to said post. That was meant way more as a jab at goony than an endorsement of Derwood's idea.

  21. I cant help but love the Warriors. So flashy and fun to watch. Yep, if you don't like watching them play then you're not much of a basketball fan. They really are fun.
  22. Nightengale is such a giant moron.
  23. Man, so many great ones. Mine is probably a bit obscure, but is one of my favorites because I was a track and cross country guy growing up. I was in Olympic Stadium in Atlanta the night Michael Johnson broke the world record in the 200m. The wave of camera flashes as they went around the curve was just unreal and the burst he put on from probably 85 to 115 meters to just blow the doors off the race was absolutely amazing. Such an enormous performance on the biggest stage there is.
  24. One positive on Harvey is that he had nearly a full year and a half between the surgery and pitching big innings again. I think the extended healing time has to help at least somewhat there, especially with my past experience with a shoulder surgery and how much of a difference more time made for me.
