  1. If the Cubs want to sell their beer cheaper than the bars, they should be able to do so. Oh, I agree, I'm just saying the bar owners concerns certainly aren't unwarranted. It's up to them to figure out how to survive.
  2. It's not an unreasonable stance to take. Ballpark Village down here has had a significant effect on many bars/restaurants around the park to the point that several have/are closing because of lost business. Personally, I hate the place because it's so corporate and antiseptic, not to mention the crappy beer choices, but you can't account for the general public just wanting to pound Bud Lights.
  3. I don't even see him. EDIT: Oh [expletive], he cut his hair. I see him now. I thought that was John Lester, until I spotted John Lester, so... I'm kinda with Derwood on this one. Who is John Lester? Also, holy [expletive] you guys are terrible at recognizing people's faces. No they're not.....shaved head Travis Wood looks stunningly like Lester in that shot. I did the same thing and didn't realize who it was until weis' post.
  4. Having lived there for 13 years now as an "outsider", the biggest problem in my eyes is that it's such an insular place. They have no interest in change or outside thought and it's really the biggest reason that there's never any progress made toward revitalizing the downtown area. There's a ton of great stuff in the city, especially for families, but all the white folk are so damned afraid to spend any time there that it's impossible to get anything substantive done to change the reality and perception of the city. It's really amazing to me how many people who are from St. Louis end up back there, even after going out and experiencing the rest of the world and getting great educations elsewhere. It's just a weird phenomenon.
  5. I really hope you're not making light of his appearance because he's got cerebral palsy.
  6. Stan Kroenke is officially the worst human being in professional sports ownership. What an enormous piece of excrement. Well, Loria may be worse, but at least is pretty up front with his douchiness.
  7. Illinois isnt really a small team, but they arent big, either. They have a lot of 2s and 3s. Considering that they rarely have more than 1 guy on the floor I'd consider a true 4 or 5, yeah they're a "small" team. If not stature wise then style wise. When Hill is the 4 a majority of the time he's on the floor, you're playing small.
  8. Are you sure? I thought he went from OL to HC when somebody got fired.
  9. I endorse this method. Shame the a-holes who fill out idiotic ballots into at least having to defend their stupid choices.
  10. Not if those 3 all filled their ballot (all 10 votes used) with other reasonable choices.
  11. The officiating in this Illinois Ohio State game has officially become comical.
  12. Sure, why not expect two inexperienced guys to continue to produce at levels in the majors that they never did in the minors. That's the real Cardinal way.
  13. Somewhere like Coors or Petco I could see that as a reasonable approach, but as small as Wrigley is, I don't think that's the way to go.
  14. Look at Soriano's first name in 2013.
  15. He'll eat innings, which is something they're sorely in need of at this point with all the injury question marks they've got. Plus, you would think he'll not see as much of a regression to the mean if the hard contact stays the same based on the fact that he's going from pitching in the GABP launching pad to Busch, which isn't as friendly offensively, especially when it comes to HR.
  16. Whoever #58 is, he needs to get off the field. He's been looking around without a clue on at least 2 snaps so far and has been out of position allowing big plays on both.
  17. what the hell league he been playin in? California Penal Since no one else did it.......
  18. I kind of believe that they won't chase any of the remaining FAs. I especially don't buy into the Davis hype and would be surprised if they took a chance on Gordon, unless his asking price comes down to 4 years max. I'd bet on a trade for a bat that can play RF or CF (there are CarGo and Blackmon rumors floating around) that would shift Grichuk to RF and Piscotty to mainly 1B and either Adams or Moss being there part time as well. Likely a 4 man rotation for CF, RF, and 1B at that point with built in Holliday insurance since he's been so brittle. I just can't possibly imagine them going into the season with as little offense as they've got right now and expecting to win enough to get into the playoffs.
  19. When even the dopey, coach-loving announce team can't come up with reasoning for it, you know you've broken the scale. Long snapper was hurt, so it's at least defensible now. They punted twice and attempted a FG after that. It apparently happened right before the TD and he was still getting checked out during the 2 pt attempt.

  21. Jack Del Rio just made the dumbest decision of the year. Went for 2 up 15-12 with like 14 minutes left in the game. Moron.
  22. Totally meatbally, but I feel pretty much the same way. Plus the potential Soler has offensively makes me want to stand pat unless they just use minor league guys not including Contreras.
  23. last year's? this year's team had low expectations that got even lower early on and has looked surprisingly professional and competitive compared to last year's team...so idk. i mean i can come up with plenty worse and more painful bears seasons than this one, but i don't know how old you are. This is worse. Last year they were just fun bad by the end. Being so close to winning so often (to the point they could easily be 9-4 right now) and watching crucial mistakes, bad game management, and missed FG cost them games just sucks.
  24. I still blame him because he failed to do a job he's paid very well to do. However, the play selection after the 2 minute warning was pathetic. I have no idea why you don't run a bubble screen or a dump off to an RB to pick up a few more yards.
  25. Can anybody tell me why that wasn't a penalty for the head shot on Miller?
