    I thought that was a pretty odd comment too. Then he proceeds to just run over Smith and prove him even more wrong. They can't possibly reverse that can they? His ass may have hit the ground before the ball crossed the plane, but I don't think it's remotely conclusive.

    I wonder if it's insanity or concussion history. Seems like a bad post-career situation waiting to happen. Hell, he's probably in his "post-career" right now. Worried about his and everyone who knows him's safety. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it's related to CTE, especially based on what his agent was saying the other day, assuming that's true of course.

    Idk why you keep fearing that this will happen. I have a really hard time seeing the first good prime aged free agent in years going all hometown discount or something. He's going to the highest bidder imo for a lot. Don't see why st louis would be the prohibitive favorite there. They do have a history of making that happen. Edmonds, Mulder, Holliday for example.

    I'm not convinced that was called from the dugout. But I also wouldn't be surprised if it was. I saw a tweet this morning that said he did it on his own because he wasn't feeling good about his swing.

    I'm not sure I follow why selling a minority stake in the team gets rid of their debt structure obligations. Is it because they can pay off that debt straightaway or something along those lines? If they sell of 10%, you're looking at about $100 million, so that ostensibly gives them lots of wiggle room to avoid operating in the red on the baseball budget. And if they need to divide it up over several years to add flexibility, you can do it over 4 years and give $25 million per until you get clear of the debt service stuff.

    The problem with that is that 1) Salazar uses that pitch a ton(13th of 78 qualifiers in 4 seam uses) 2) his second pitch is a changeup which also loses effectiveness as the fastball loses velocity and 3) his other pitches are used so little we can't be super confident they'd be effective alternatives. If Salazar had more MLB innings that highlighted the strength of those 3rd-5th pitches or we could be more certain he'll keep his stuff through 200+ IP that'd help, but we don't have either of those yet. For another small datapoint, September was his worst month performance wise, and he also failed to average 95 mph in 5 of his final 6 starts(he averaged 95+ in 14 of the other 24). This has been a lot of words on what was really a minor point in the overall comparison though, I want to make sure to describe it thoroughly because it's a bit in the weeds and interesting to me conceptually, but Salazar's specific repertoire isn't the linchpin of why I prefer Teheran over him. I'm grabbing this post because it's the last one in the sequence, but isn't it likely that a guy losing velocity on the 4 seamer is going to lose similar velocity on the change up? I mean, not exactly on a 1:1 scale, but reasonably close enough that you're still going to have a decent delta in there to continue having the deception you're looking for?

    Well, they're not. There's so much hand wringing and pissing and moaning about him that I'm pretty sure more of them than not would be happy if they got rid of him.

    I agree, Black would be fine. But to even consider Dusty after what he just went through with Williams? I just have no idea how that's even a thought you can have, especially with the long track record of pitcher destruction and a guy like Strasburg on the staff.

    The FG makes no sense. I mean, what does that even do for you? At least going for the first down gives you a chance at a TD now and guarantees the Bears are deep in their own territory. Crazy, especially after the fake punt call.
