  1. This team is mediocre talent. Yep. I know we're all emotional right now, but the problem isn't that they're not playing hard. The problem is they're not a good team.
  2. good thing we let Curry walk Curry can't defend Shaq. I didn't mind letting Curry go, but it did kind of suck that the Bulls couldn't find a true post player as a replacement.
  3. Nice inning by Hill. He looked like he belonged. It was just one inning, but it was a good start.
  4. Did you know he was ranked just ahead of Prior by some minor league scouts and experts? He wasn't working out for us, and he hasn't torn up the league, but it would have been nice to get something more than Andy Pratt for him.
  5. He started to break for third for no apparent reason. Estrada threw to second and he couldn't get back in time.
  6. Some other people have been having trouble, too.
  7. "Protection" is an idea that's largely been discredited. But moving him up in the order could give him more atbats, and it will allow him to come to the plate in different situations, so I'm all for it.
  8. Brenneman just called the upcomong Cubs series a "wrap-around series."
  9. While you didn't say why you detest him (on the field stuff, off the field stuff, or both), it's certainly your right to do so. Personally, it doesn't matter to me as much. I'd rather have a Moises Alou arguing with the umpires and antagonizing Steve Stone than a Todd Hollandsworth being a model citizen. But I care more about winning than I care about peripheral stuff. Of course there's some things even I wouldn't put up with, but Moises wasn't guilty of those things.
  10. I disagree that pointing out other slow starts is an excuse. I like Aramis, and I root for him, but if I thought he was going to continue his poor hitting, I'd be happy to see him replaced. There's good reason to believe he won't continue playing poorly. As for being pull-happy, if he really is adversely affecting his game by trying to pull too many pitches, then you have every right to criticize his performance. I think it's stupid to jump on a player who's slumping unless they're obviously doing something wrong that could be corrected. For example, Sammy in 2004 was standing a zip code away from the plate and couldn't reach outside pitches. He deserved criticism when he slumped. All of Aramis's hits at Wrigley this year have been to the left side of the field. If Aramis needs to hit the ball to the opposite field to get himself going, then I'm all for it. However, while he does have extra base power to all fields, the vast majority of his homers at Wrigley are to left field. I love Matt Murton - I'm excited everytime I see one of his atbats - but I don't want Aramis to try to be Matt.
  11. Although I hated his baserunning and shuddered at his fielding, he was our best hitter in 2004, and I couldn't believe the Cubs didn't bring him back, even when he offered a hometown discount. He's gone on to put up great numbers in San Fran, a tougher park for hitters. Vance, I'm on board the Moises BandWGN.
  12. They've got the hitting with RISP thing down, but obviously Dusty and Clines need to work with them on hitting with RISP and two outs. Anyone know appropriate drills to improve production in that situation?
