  1. And Len questioned Dusty's strategy.
  2. I don't think that's likely. Ellis recently came off the DL and he's probably a better hitter as well as a better fielder. Yep.
  3. He is as bad as I say. There are ten NL catchers putting up better offensive numbers by VORP. He is woefully below average defensively this year. Lo Duca is a very poor choice. As for his OBP, he's 11th among NL catchers with at least 100 plate appearances. I agree with you on McCann and Ross.
  4. Why can't we argue with the fans' choice? Lo Duca is one of the worst all-star selections in recent memory. He's probably not the best catcher on the Mets. The media created Paul Lo Duca, All-Star with their incessant fawning about him being the Heart and Soul of the Dodgers. A bunch of crap. I'd trade Lo Duca for Brad Penny (the number 6 pitcher in MLB by VORP, right behind Carlos Zambrano) any day of the week. To think the stupid LA sportswriters criticized the trade. :x You should have got more people to vote for Barrett then. I agree with the other poster; the debate is between McCann and Barrett. IMO though, Ross is more deserving than Barrett. Nowhere do I argue that Barrett should be an all-star, so why should I have "got [sic] more people" to vote for him? Lo Duca is a joke as an all-star. Yes, Ross is more deserving, and so are half the catchers in the NL. There are ten catchers in the NL who have been better than Lo Duca offensively this year, and Lo Duca has been very below average defensively this season. The Mets are a very good team, but Jose Valentin has had more to do with their success than Paul Lo Duca.

  7. DUSTY IS OUR GENERAL. YOU CAN'T CHANGE GENERALS IN THE MIDDLE OF A WAR! AND THE CUBS ARE IN A WAR. CUBS. LOVE THEM OR LEAVE THEM!
  8. He could do it ya know.... If Barrett broke Bonds' record, we'd have to think seriously about re-signing him, but we'd have to weight the benefit of the 73+ homeruns against his defense which easily costs us 22 games each season.
  9. Hawk is calling out Marriotti. Hawk, bad as he is > Marriotti.
  10. Uecker says Baker is a good manager and then goes on to say that the manager isn't really that important. If the manager doesn't make much of a difference, why are we paying him $4 million this year?
  11. Dear Len, Perhaps the best leadoff hitter of all-time, Ricky Henderson, hit a whole bunch of home runs. Juan Pierre is not somehow a good leadoff hitter because he completely lacks power. Best regards.
  12. Pat and Ron said it was at his feet :?: That's how big Prince's feet are.
  13. Dusty did a little pelvic thrust to celebrate the last out. Ewww.
  14. It would be great if they chanted FIRE DUSTY even after a win.
  15. Fun fact: Brewers bullpen is the worst in the NL: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/aggregate?statType=pitching&group=9&seasonType=2&type=type1&sort=ERA&split=0&season=2006 Maybe we would have more days like today if we could get starters out of the game.
  16. Prince Fielder has stolen 5 bases this year. Don't hate on the fat guys.
  17. You see what happens when DLee is back in the lineup. He's got his horses now. Maybe the division is out of reach, but the wildcard is there for the taking. WOOHAH!
  18. So does Dempster walk in 3 runs or give them up a 3-run homer?
  19. BLANCO WITH A TRIPLE! and he shows FIRE! and INTENSITY!
  20. Len continues to hint that Turnbow should have been pitching the 8th for Milwaukee. If I were a manager, I'd ignore the save stat.
  21. At the beginning of the inning, Len questioned bringing in Kolb instead of Turnbow. Yeah, it's the 8th inning, but Walker-Lee-Ramirez would be tougher outs than what Turnbow would face in the 9th.
