  1. Thanks NC. I wouldn't say I had a burning desire to know, but its certainly not hindered me any.
  2. I see that it might be a faint concern, but I really don't see it happening. Note - this post is one of the posts most likely to come back and haunt me that I've ever made.
  3. Well, Freddy has already done it once. In senior football? Players play underage football for whichever country they can (Ryan Giggs was English for a time) but the first team is rare.
  4. As far as I'm aware, it has to be a competitive international - thus not a friendly. That said, its quite rare nowadays for players to country-hop.
  5. :D - I went missing somewhere between 4-0 and 5-2. Great news!
  6. Think I might get this one on the radio. Its uncomfortable enough to keep me awake tonight.
  7. I believe they are only a region but have strong regional pride or something. This is why they are governed by Spain's Football Assoc and the reason the FA cancelled the game is because they didn't want the Catalan team to wear out any players that they wanted to call up to the Spanish team. Spain has very strong regional identity; the Basques, of course, are the most well known of the regions of Spain (though they cover some of France, too), but all the areas, Andalucia, Galicia, Catalonia, are fiercely proud of their heritage, and - from what I've seen - view themselves as regional first, then national. Its, strangely, exactly the opposite of France (though that is changing now). As far I know, neither the Basque team and the Catalonian team are members of FIFA, though I think Catalonia played against Wales not so long ago.
  8. Good to see the Cubs hitting more homers now, and thanks to Fonz, its a 1-0 lead in my first game for more than a week.
  9. I wish I could watch this game. I'll just have to send positive vibes out.
  10. Leicester City defender Clive Clarke collapsed at half time during their game with Nottingham FOrest last night, and a player in a local league down here in Kent (Hi, mum!) died over the weekend midgame. The beginning of the Liverpool game yesterday night, meanwhile, moved me to tears. Its a true tragedy, and great credit to Liverpool and their fans that they did that.
  11. Game in San Fran I can watch without feeling I should be asleep. Go Cubs!
  12. For all intents and purposes, it's the modern-day record. The last time 30 runs were scored in a game was in June of 1897 when the Chicago Colts (now our beloved Cubs) beat some team 36-7. See here for details. Note, to my amusement, how they list last night's game as Game 1, just in case they did the same thing in Game 2, I assume.
  13. It'd be a bit odd to shout 'Well played, Ryan!' at him from the stands. People would think you were his mum or something.
  14. When travelling, non-fiction. When stationary, fiction.
  15. Todd Wellemeyer's 2007 batting average.
  16. But if he does that in Florida, there'll be no-one there to catch it....
  17. You look different than I expected. Good work meeting Len, too. Nice photos.
  18. Tonight on Fox Football Fone-in (FSC) they said that McBride could be out 5 months. You've got to wonder how much longer he can play in the Premier League at his age and following that injury. Before the injury I would have said another 2 years, now I have no clue. I just don't know what the rehab and recovery are like from an injury like that. That being said I think he really enjoys playing in England and has been successful. He can always step down a league or two to get back to fitness.
  19. You're not Derwood. They're normally not finished by when I wake up on an average day.
  20. Don't they always introduce them as 'Derrek Lee and the Chicago Cubs'? Or is that a fifties tribute act round my parts?
  21. I've had the chance to watch a lot of Sesame Street on Youtube now. Let's get the game back on.
  22. :D - I didn't see that one coming, either.
  23. :D - I didn't see that one coming.
  24. Is that the tail wagging the dog, though? Would they be that if they didn't get all the press coverage? Yeah, they probably would, but I sure as hell wouldn't mind not reading about them all the livelong day.
