  1. Ahh, yes, the old "he's a first half player" argument. Would be noteworthy, if it were accurate. http://nsbb.baseball.sportsline.com/news/10905519 I'd trade Wright for Hamilton, depending on league scoring and my current OF and backup 3B situations.
  2. my bad. didn't realize Helton is having an off year. Not at off year at 36. It's called the twilight. Helton is 34, not 36. Still in his twilight, perhaps, but he is not 36.
  3. You act as if the Phillies have enough to even get the Rockies to the table, much less acquire Holliday. The Phillies just traded their 2/4th best prospects for an innings eater, and this while their system was't exactly overflowing with premium talent. So, you can rest easy, Holliday won't be going to Philadelphia. Did you miss the line in the original post that said the Phillies talks made the most progress? Yes, it later went on to say that those talks had died, but from the article, it is clear that the Phillies had more than enough to get the Rockies "to the table."

    I'm Back

I think you're missing the boat on my offer. I don't. Johnson is worse than all 3 of my current 2B (and nearly 150 points worse than Kinsler), and Porcello is a long way from helping a team win consistently. Maine is a nice young pitcher, but I haven't seen nearly enough from him to convince me that he's worth the top 2B in the game- especially one who is still coming into his own and doesn't cost me a thing to keep. I would make that deal for Upton (you could even keep Porcello or Maine), but not Kinsler.

    I'm Back

    And ready to deal.
  6. I wouldn't have bothered calling you on this, but you didn't offer an alternative. Blake Griffin James Harden Stephen Curry Ahhh, Stephen Curry. See, now I'm more than happy to concede the point. I'd take Tyler Smith over Harangody, as well.
  7. Jemile Weeks, 2B, Oakland
  8. Some of Tennessee's OOC schedule has been set... and it looks very tough once again. Bruce Pearl has done an outstanding job of scheduling OOC opponents. http://govolsxtra.com/news/2008/jun/17/gonzaga-memphis-game-days-set/
  9. It's time for a new thread. All of our conversation is geared toward the coming year anyway.
  10. Man, you guys are racking them up. Heckuva class, no doubt. BUt, Tennessee needed it... badly. For a program that is just reemerging on the national scene, Tennessee was on a bit of tenuous ground with the graduations of Jajuan Smith, Jordan Howell, and Chris Lofton and the dismissals of Duke Crews and Ramar Smith. That is about 55% of our overall production last season. To replace Lofton with Hopson is huge. Replacing Ramar and Duke with Bobby Maze (who is admittedly a huge thug, but someone who will hopefully make the most of this second chance) and Negedu is enormous. If RS Frosh Cam Tatum can offer just a portion of what J. Smith offered, and if Daniel West can come in and play some meaningful minutes at the point, and if Renaldo Woolridge can be a solid backup to JP Prince, this Tennessee team could be very, very good, and should be the prohibitive favorite to win the SEC again. Several "if's", but Pearl has apparently reloaded, and has a team that could be very scary late in the season next year. Thank God for the summer league that happens in Knoxville, so that some of these guys can play competitive basketball together to get ready for next season.
  11. Emmanuel Negedu chooses Tennessee toady. The Rivals #10 class will get a boost up near the #5 mark- the highest ranked recruiting class in school history.
  12. For his career, Jordan shot 33% from 3. That is not a "weakness". That is actually not a bad percentage. Tiger has hit less than 60% of his fairways. In 2006, he finished 139th on Tour. In 2007, he finished 152nd. In 2008, he isn't even in the top 200. Tiger tees off like MJ hit curve balls. Now THAT would be accurate.
  13. No, he isn't. I think the better comparison would be to Shaq. THE most dominant player in the game, but with a huge hole in his game. Shaq's was the free throw line, Tiger's is apparently the tee box. Very erratic (seriously, no way he's hit 50% of his fairways), but still the best player out there... by a large margin. Tiger is the personification of the old saying "drive for show, putt for dough." But, my Lord, if he ever puts together a tourney where he hits 80% of his fairways, he laps the field again. Tiger has the titles that go along with the play though...so he's much more MJ than Shaq in that way. And MJ and Tiger are all skill...Shaq was just born into a freakishly huge body...he doesn't do much that another person with the same body shape couldn't do. Tiger and MJ can/could both do things that people with the same body type couldn't do. And Tiger can do things from the tee box that Shaq can't do from the free throw line. Tiger misses fairways, sure. But he makes up for the inaccuracy with distance. He can get to par 5 greens in 2 that nobody else in the field can. A big, fat, oooooook to the Shaq comparison. John Daly is shaq. Tiger is MJ, the most dominant, willed, competitive player in his sport. "John Daly is Shaq" is perhaps the singularly dumbest thing ever written on this, or any other, forum. John Daly is George Muresan. Tiger is not the MJ of Golf. Until he catches Jack, he is at best Kobe Bryant. Jordan was a smarter player than Tiger is. Jordan did not pass up wide open layups for 25 footers. Jordan did not have such a glaring weakness in his game as Tiger does. The MJ comparison is pure bull turd. Tiger is clutch as can be. Excellent putter. Tremendous with short irons. Makes shots that no one else on the planet can. Tiger is clearly not a great decision maker, and is pretty weak from the tee box, though. And those are glaring holes in his game.
  14. I'm fuzzy on this, but I think I got a 3rd rounder in my latest deal with Slainte. Mark will have to confirm, as I simply cannot say with 100% certainty that this is true. I'm sure I didn't deal Hudson straight up for Bailey, though.
  15. Got any response to that offer I made you 3 days ago? Just curious. I'm leaving for 5 weeks this week and will miss alot, so trying to get some things tied up in the meantime.
  16. I got my 5th back in the Ortiz for Willingham swap.
  17. No, he isn't. I think the better comparison would be to Shaq. THE most dominant player in the game, but with a huge hole in his game. 18. Kentrail Davis' stats, through two games with Team USA: 5 for 6, 2HR, 5 RBI, 3 R, 3 BB, 1 SB.
  19. Brian Matusz, P, Baltimore
  20. I'm not incredibly up to date on next year's top talent, but the University of Tennessee will have at least a couple of interesting prospects. Yan Gomes (C-1B) and Kentrail Davis (OF) both look to potentially be very high picks. Davis just missed out on SEC Frosh of the Year, but due to his age, he will be draft eligible.
  21. What a freakin' turd. He did that just to piss me off.
  22. ??? Quoted For Truth. First time I saw it, I thought it meant Quit [expletive] Talking, but it doesn't.
  23. So if your team is not drafting we don't waste 24hrs. 8-) QFT
  24. OKay, adding to my thoughts.. Additional DL spots? 3 is tight, especially in a league where you only have 23 roster spots anyway. I wonder if we could do 24 and 4? Maybe add another RP to active rosters. If we had 4 active RP and 7 start limits per week, it would more closely resemble a Major League team.
