    Wow, that 19 K's in 48 AB's stat REALLY stands out. Wilkerson needs to turn that around ASAP literally. Ibanez is a possibility but I think getting either Ichiro or Abreu would take more effort. Not sure about Kearns or Mench though. I would like Ichiro - a Ichiro, Pierre top of the order would be good. Although I think we need a bit more power from our No. 2 spot...which is why I still like Walker there. We'll see as the season progresses. While I think Pierre will turn out better than Jones, let's see how they do in the upcoming weeks. Two weeks is too short a time period to judge. No way is Ichiro coming to Chicago. He's too valuable as a moneymaker in Seattle because of the revenue they get from Japanese media. Would be nice, but it won't happen.

    I could be wrong, but I think Tim Hudson was battling that for some of the past two years. But I agree with you, it is strange that it seems to be happening more.

    I was about 10 rows back from the court behind the Bulls basket in the 4th quarter and was in shock. Gordon couldn't miss a thing! It was absolutely an incredible game.

    Anyone know how to change the MLB.TV preferences to play on Real player as compared to Windows Media? I know it's slightly off topic, but it's the only way I can watch the game.

    Can you imagine Dempster as a color commentator? Maybe he should take Brenly's place when he retires if he's a good analyst too.

    Haha. And I had to follow it on Gamecast and kept predicting he'd implode every single inning. My Giants fan roommate thought I was strange. I remember thinking before that game that there was no chance of us winning it and that, as a result, we'd fall just short in the Central. That was stepping up big time though. I get chills remembering how different that game's outcome was from what I expected.

    Unless he was talking about minor league A ball experience. Or at least that's how I interpreted it.

    What else do the Cards have to offer beyond Reyes? They're farm system is even more shallow than ours is. I'd have to think that the Marlins preference would be to send Miguel to an AL team if packages are equal. That being said, if they Cards (or any other team) offers the farm for him, all bets are off.

    Thank you for reminding me how much I hate the D-Backs and their farm system. If I remember right, Chris Young came over to the Dbacks from the White Sox in the Vasquez trade? Do I have that right?

    Not really. Central Michigan Grad, assistant at MSU under Heathcoate, assistant at Pitt and Western Kentucky, assistant at MSU under Izzo, Marquette head coach. Being a Marquette student, I'd have to say that I believe only an insane contract offer would lure Crean from MU. He's celebrity up here. What does scare me is that if Crean does leave for MU, I'm afraid that Richmond, IN native and Big East freshman of the year Dominic James would follow. And that would suck...

    I guess it's important to consider the source, but the Chicago Sun-Times made a mention today about the Tribune Co. possibly looking to sell the Cubs. I know this was brought up over the offseason, but decided to add a new thread after I couldn't find the old one back a few months.     This is more of a continuation of Barrett's sales pitch, but though Clemens as a Cub will never happen, according to Cubs.com Barrett even offered to differ some of his salary. I am quickly developing a heterosexual man crush on the guy.

    Maybe. Even better would be if we were "forced" to keep walker to start the season and he has a .300 BA with a .360 OBP at the break. Then they might be "forced" to keep him all year. If all we can get for him is Matos, what's the point of trading him? I know it isn't the only reason, but they are way too bent out of shape by his comments. I don't think his were any worse than Neifi's comments a few weeks ago, plus Neifi sucks. I completely agree. The best thing the Cubs could do is be unable to trade him, though it would be even worse if they kept him, but benched him, further lowering his value. 200th post!

    I'm not advocating this at all, but is it reasonable to assume that Walker would bring more around the trade deadline? Granted, bigger names will be thrown about, but just a thought that crossed my mind.

    Any word from Bruce about whether the Cubs are making a push for Cabrera as the (admittedly sketchy) Angels blog suggested? I doubt there's much (if any) truth to it, though I'd prefer to hear one way or another so I don't get my hopes up unnecessarily.

    I would love Scott in the deal as well, though I'd be shocked beyond all reason if he came. He went to a suburban high school, actually a rival school from my high school. I believe he grew up a Cubs fan too...

    According to the article from the Newark Star-Ledger, seems Cabrera's contract will be too much for the Marlins after next year and that he'll become a nice trade bait. I know the Cubs would probably not be the best match for a trade, but what would it take?     Same in Cali.* *When there's no traffic. EDIT: What's a FIB? A FIB is a f***ing Illinois b******. That's about as much as I'm probably allowed to type on here without getting a warning. My girlfriend always got made fun of by her friends at home for dating a FIB. It doesn't bother me personally.

    Wow. I look at those pictures and am shocked at how much better Zambrano looks at this year's camp. I know he lost weight, but wow.
