  1. Duke goes down to Marquette. Heckuva game.
  2. OK. I go to Marquette, and don't know how this game will turn out, but boy oh boy are we going to be fun to watch! The fact that we are hanging with the likes of Duke is huge for the program. Dominic James, Jerel McNeal, and Wesley Matthews are growing up much faster than I thought without Steve Novak.
  3. What caused 20000 hits on 12/7 last year? Well, the winter meetings last year were the reason for the hits. But that was the day of my plane crash, which is what made the day memorable for me. --edit-- Ah yes, the Pierre trade. Oh wow. I completely forgot about the plane crash last year that you were in Tim. Bad memories indeed.
  4. With no disrespect to Giants fans, I love how few media outlets are talking about the schedule of the Giants. Yes, they have had a brutal schedule, but bear in mind that during their five game win streak, the only team they have played that was .500 or better when they played them was the Falcons. They beat the Cowboys as they were changing QBs. I'm not saying the Bears haven't had an easier schedule, because they have, but the Giants haven't necessarily beated juggernauts on the way to us. It's the NY media fascination that is blinding a lot of people to this. Regardless, it'll be a good game.
  5. Wow. If that's the case, then there's nothing to see here. That being said, take the money that was going to the bid and put it into Schmidt.
  6. As many of you have brought up, Jim as to realize that cutting Ramirez lose is likely going to cost him his job, unless he pulls off some remarkable trade (which, I would hope he could do WITH Aramis on the team). I guess that belief is keeping me going, that Hendry is committing career suicide by not resigning him.
  7. Where is this from? I see quotes everywhere, but no source. Nevertheless, my delusional self likes the thought.
  8. Interesting if true. It would make a lot more sense as to why a team like Seattle or LA wouldn't make a bid for Matsuzaka. So then that narrows it down to what? The east coast and midwest teams? I wonder if Bora's relationship with the Cubs has helped prevent him from eliminating us. Or maybe Matsuzaka is genuinely interested in joining us. Which would be a welcome change.
  9. A little off topic, but still applying to Aramis: did anyone see the poll at Cubs.com? It asked which Cubs free agent they most would like to see retained. At the time I voted, Aramis led with 74% of the vote (rightfully), with 0% for Wade Miller and 5% for Juan Pierre and Kerry Wood each. But how in the heck did Henry Blanco wind up with 16% of the vote!
  10. There's no way that Gwynn would leave his dream job, but boy, I'd love to have him as a hitting coach. Anyone know how his hitters perform at SD State?

My hatred for them just grew...
  12. As mixed as I am about this hiring, that last paragraph is the most telling part. Lou wants to win and wouldn't come here unless he felt we could make a big leap. So I take heart in that, though that could be small consolation.
  13. Even though Girardi is well thought of and was formerly the bench coach for the Yanks?
  14. You guys are serious aren't you? One can hope, right? Besides, if McDonough is that adamant about winning, you got to imagine he'll at least ask Hendry to pursue. Right? Right?
  15. Isn't that making a big assumption though? That A-ram and Pierre are waiting for a new manager to see if he makes them hustle, or holds them accountable? Isn't it reasonable that these guys know who their boss is going to be before they sign a commitment to play for a team for X number of years? I know Pierre is one of Dusty's guys, but was A-ram really? Maybe A-ram is looking for a manager that can actually manage? I'm making assumptions, sure, but I think we all are. I never took hustle to be one of Pierre's faults. While I don't think he's an ideal guy for us, I've heard nothing but raves about his work ethic. But maybe it was the media spinning things.
  16. I think I speak for everyone when I say that you are in our thoughts and prayers Derek. Do what you have to do. Family comes first.
  17. Camera Man: Alright Alison, you're on in three... Allison: n%nt&9f56$! Camera Man: ...two... Allison: ::violent shakes:: Camera Man: ...one... Allison: FIERY DEATHS FOR ALL! Camera Man: And we're live! Allison with a smile: And now for your nightly news...
  18. Hill's looking to get his win today. Just not in the game anyone thought...
  19. Mental overload. Cannot compute. Craziness abounds.
  20. Probably feeling pretty productive too. I know I would.
  21. Borderline on Jones' strikeout pitch? Bad call. Bottom of the 15th now!
  22. On a side note, I saw Freddie Mercury's estate when I was in London. It was right next door to the theatre I was training at. Took me a while to figure it out though.
  23. Funny, i was in liverpool two weekends ago. I couldn't believe how many clubs and bars they have in such a small area. did you see the Lennon statue outside the cavern? Oh yeah. Got my picture taken with it and visited the Cavern Club. Took a tour as well that took me to Penny Lane, Strawberry Field, and all the Beatle's birthplaces.
