  1. Ugh. I just discovered I could have gone to the convention yesterday, but my mother didn't call me because she thought I had rehearsal yesterday. Stupid theatre...
  2. Remember, there are three parts to every game: offense, defense, and special teams. Last Saints drive aside, we're winning special teams and defense. Offense is only clicking on the run game, but boy has it ever. Keep our fingers crossed that we continue to make the plays.
  3. Jones and Benson are pounding the Saints this half. Let's keep it going!
  4. Wow. That was great. Thank you for posting that and Jon Stewart is the man. I've always been a fan of his and this makes me that much more of a fan. For some reason, even as much as I love Jon, that always rubbed me the wrong way. I'm certainly not a fan of Begala or Tucker, and never watched Crossfire, but I didn't think it was very cool of him to be invited onto a show and then proceed to, with all seriousness, bash the show and call one of the hosts a jerk. In Stewart's defense, he didn't up the smugness until Tucker started mocking his Kerry interview. Yeah, it seemed like Stewart wouldn't have gone off like he did, or as aggressively as he did, had Tucker not repeatedly gone back to the questions Stewart asked in the Kerry interview. I believe it is mentioned that Stewart was brought on so they could grill him and tear him apart. He had made comments regarding Crossfire before, so knew the invitation was a trap. I give him credit, though it was very ballsy of him.
  5. They have Marquette going 23-8, with Connecticut, Georgetown, West Virginia, and Notre Dame finishing above them in conference. Notre Dame seems good this year, but the idea of West Virginia going 11-5 in conference when replacing that much of their roster makes me question his judgment. 10-6 for Marquette seems about right in conference.
  6. I know it shouldn't bother me, but has anyone checked out the ESPN article by Wojciechowski about the Bears? In it, he not only talks about how the Bears aren't that great of a team because they barely beat the Cardinals and Bucs, but also gets a few very unfunny jokes at the expense of the Tank Johnson scenario. Does the man realize the players' grievances that would be filed and all the other junk the Bears would have to wade through if they didn't figure out the right way of releasing him? To Wojciechowski, the fact that we didn't release him the same day after it happened is unacceptable. Additionally, he makes several jabs at Smith being delusional. Alright. Rant over. I really need to get my sports fix away from ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=wojciechowski_gene&id=2701811&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos2
  7. Which is generally why I prefer college basketball. Don't get me wrong. I love my Bulls and seeing former players from your college in the NBA (Wade) is awesome, but college hoops in March is just about as good as sports can get.
  8. Apparently about 90% of major league players are greedy pricks then. You enjoy your below-average $11M per year pitcher, Royals. Good luck with that. Meche will not be a Royal at the end of this contract. I just can't see it.
  9. This is strange in and of itself. I know the White Sox wanted to be players for ARod, but I had just assumed they would trade one of their starters and Crede. But now it seems that they've traded away the two most likely candidates in an ARod trade. Kenny Williams has to have something up his sleeves because, especially given the market, these are odd trades.
  10. I like. Only question is, are the Pirates hesitant to deal with Hendry anymore?
  11. It would take a lot more then that to get AROD. And of course AROD still needs to approve it, and I highly doubt he'll want to play for Ozzie. Didn't Ozzie and ARod get into a verbal spat recently?
  12. A-Rod for Crede and Garcia? If that's all it takes, then someone if not the Cubs can beat that. Crede is an above average thirdbaseman while Garcia has been inconsistent since 2005 and I believe is off the books after next year. I'd have to assume that the best prospects are still in the discussion.
  13. Someone help me out here. Assuming there is no ligament damage (or little), how long would Tommie Harris' knee take to heal? Am I wrong in thinking he'll be back for the playoffs, especially if/when we get a first round bye?
  14. Get ready for more disappointment. Not an awful month for the Badgers. Cincy beat WVU in football, coupled with the NDSU win over Marquette means we dont have to hear about being the marquis defeats for those programs anymore. Missou St was a disaster though. I know we have some big games coming up against Marquette and Pitt, but man i cant wait until Butch matches up against that dude from OSU. Only thing better than shutting the Buckeyes mouths is beating the Hawkeyes, but its close...real close. A Badger, are you? Don't be so sure about winning against Marquette. I'd say it's an even matchup, personally. Oh, and don't forget that Wisconsin lost last year in Madison to these same NSD Bison...
  15. Don't worry. Marquette lost to North Dakota State. Not a good day for the Big East. I was at the Marquette game. We didn't play well enough to win, that's for sure. I'm going to sound like a homer for saying this, but it was also some of the worst officiating I've ever seen. Not just the calls against us. The referees were constantly overruling each other, which doesn't exactly instill confidence in the crew. OK. Rant over. But still, DePaul beating Kansas is big for the Big East, though. Week from today is Marquette vs. Wisconsin. That'll be a good matchup though.
  16. The impression I got from that bit was that he would only buy the Cubs from whoever bought the entire Tribune Co. Smart decision on his part to look into that option, since it seems the Tribune will be sold as one big chunk. So look for Cuban to attempt to buy the Cubs from whoever buys the whole Trib Co.
  17. So Prior does serve a function on this team even when he can't pitch. He's a recruiter. Of course Mark is going to do what he can to make the team better, but it's still nice to see.
  18. Looks like, at least right now, Grossman's hand is ok. I worry about him aggravating it, though.
  19. Could this be the game that proves to the Bears staff that Benson should get more carries?
  20. While there's always the chance of him getting hurt, I appreciate the fact that he doesn't seem like he just wants to rest on this contract. Generally speaking, I've heard nothing but good things about his work ethic (the position switch, nonwithstanding), so I'm happy that he wants to be the best he can for the Cubs.
  21. I got a Zambrano jersey back in June 2004. Right about the point he really started to break out. Guess I'm good luck. Or that's what I'll fool myself into believing!
