Agreed on both counts. KBD is Groce's must get recruit. Central Illinois kid in the Top 25. If ever there is a prototypical highly ranked Illinois recruit over the last 20 years, it's him. The last one to spurn us was probably Livingston. He's going to get him.

Javier Baez, I'd rather have him than several guys selected before him. I think we lucked out he fell to us.

The point wasn't pointing blame so much as pointing out that we've sat through 3 straight years of crappy baseball already. I understand that. Just think they are only operating under what they can do from when they took over. That said I think we will try to compete this year. -
Shooting arm? How would that affect you going forward? I would assume that could really mess your shot up. Ouch, he's from my hometown, so I can tolerate him even if he is going to be a Boiler. Hope his rehab goes well and he's able to come back strong. He seems like a great kid. I assume his high school team had a shot at a state title? Lol, not if they are in the higher level.

I tend to think, as of now, that 2015 is probably the most realistic year to begin to make a push. The short of it is, barring some surprises, there just aren't many pieces that we are going to add to the core of Castro/Rizzo in the next year or two. At best, it feels like maybe an piece or two will develop into capable starters, but there just isn't much that we are adding to the core to build around. Thankfully, Castro/Rizzo are young enough that we can take that time. Most of our prime prospects are a few years away, and it's not like we have a ton of assets to bring in a lot of upper level, closer to ready quality talent. I'm not enthused about it. I can understand it, and I'm okay "punting" 2013. I don't know if the general fan base can take 3 years of horrid play, though. we're at 3 years of pretty bad already. Not under Theo and Jed. They can't be held responsible for the Hendry years.

Last year bama lost at home to LSU, then got a rematch over other teams who had the same record and hadn't lost at home to the other team beforehand. I don't believe they are out until they actually are. And even then I could see a Saban run in and chair shot for the title.

I think they just think Baez is riskier. Across all prospect evaluations, Baez is considered a higher risk (with a higher reward). Parks feels the risk outweighs his numerous pluses. I disagree and can't help but think Parks will be in the minority in preferring Almora to Baez. I'm positive BA will have Baez first. Still it's exciting that Almora is in the discussion with him. -

Surprised they have Almora ahead of Baez. I wonder if that's because they are higher on Albert or lower on Javier than most? -
