  1. I'm baffled by the sheer number of people who seem to honestly believe this. Or that seem to think the rest of baseball is keeping some kind of running tally and laughing at the Cubs over it. How many major trades/signings can you remember in recent years that we're reported as sure things by major outlets and respected sources and turned out to be no goes? ESPN and CBS had this. Dempster and Soler were reported by some major sources as well. Obviously, the Twitter age is responsible for this, but I can't think of many other major non-trades that were prematurely reported as done deals by multiple respected sources. There was also the Pujols fiasco last year, also Twitter generated, but the last pre-Twitter debacle of this sort I can remember was Peavy, also the Cubs. Do you ever wonder that maybe it's because they are the only team you pay attention to...? Thought about that. It's one thing if it comes from a local media, but when it starts being reported by out of market sources, anyone who follows them on Twitter is going to see it. I really can't think of any major leaks of trades that became non-trades/signings after it had been reported by that many outlets. CBS and ESPN had this one. The Dempster trade reached beyond the local media, as did Soler. Arod to the red sox in 04? What do I win?
  2. Knd of like when we put all our eggs in the Kelvin Sampson basket and then he blew it by announcing his meeting with us before RG wanted to and we had to settle for bill self? Relax man the biggest part about coaching is recruiting. He's doing that very well thus far.
  3. And then can himself. After the mess Guenther left him I think you have to give him sometime before you think about firing him. I know, but he really botched the two most important hires for any college athletic program. I'm pretty happy with Groce. His recruiting has been top notch thus far and he hasn't coached a game yet, how was that a botch?

  5. So harden is Kobe good now? After two games. Makes sense.
  6. The only negative thing I can possibly say is that this just makes it even more imperative that they add a guy or two to stabilize the bullpen. Otherwise, it's awesome. Holy balls you arent blasting a Theo move.
  7. They've won a game, didn't they lead then? I would have thought so, but they said since it was in OT and the game was over after the score they haven't actually lead DURING a game. That is, no time from the game clock has run when they were in the lead. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Lol, that's awesome. Nice work chiefs.
  8. They've won a game, didn't they lead then?
  9. Yeah, one guy inexplicably says "trade rape" and he decides he's now going to show up everyone else every time Harden has a good game. And to be clear. I don't think Harden sucks at all. Just think Houston overpaid because of where his contract was at with OKC.
  10. Yes harden is better, but I think the NBA is loaded with good guard/forwards. I can't think of too many very good centers.
  11. Had OKC matched they would have went over the cap and thus paid twice as much. He was gone. well, they could have afforded it if they really wanted to keep that trio together Yeah, but the odds are slim they would have. Very slim. They have to keep either ibaka or harden and it's a lot easier to find talented guards than centers.
  12. Is Batum this good, or is he playing out of his mind? I haven't seen much of him.
  13. Had OKC matched they would have went over the cap and thus paid twice as much. He was gone.
  14. Giving away more than you need to in order to get a guy. They could have waited a year and bought him. Giving up nothing.
  15. it was probably one of the most meaningful moments of his life. it probably gave him a satisfaction unlike one you'll ever feel. you are an abomination. Yeah I can't thing of much in life that would be better than representing your country at the Olympics in your country.
  16. But OKC isn't in the bulls market. Why don't you get that? It was harden for a year and nothing, or a trade. I feel Houston overpaid big time. In a year they could have signed him. Thus I think OKC trade raped them. This isn't that hard to figure out.
  17. Trade Rape by OKC This game probably just won him the MVP. And to think he would have stayed in OKC for so cheap and wouldn't have hurt them on the luxury tax.
  18. ??? On NBA reference... His best year is 54th all time. http://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/per_season.html When you got like Wilt/MJ/Shaq/Lebron taking up like 35 of the top 50 best seasons ever... You can see why Kobe is down the list. The biggest knock on him is his FG%. One way to look at it is that it's impressive he's up that high with a lower FG% then the guys that are around him on that list. The one that bothers me is Hakeem Olajuwon best year in PER (92-93) is 71st all time. He avg 26 pts, 13 rebs, 3.5 ast, 1.8 stls, and 4.2 blks!!!! a game on 52.9 FG% and 77.9 FT%. Man I must have read it wrong, but still that low?
  19. Oh, ok I didn't know that. I though per was basically the big one to use.
  20. I know what a drunken McGruder thinks of him.
  21. I'm kind of a meatball in regards to basketball. I can't get behind per. For his career Carlos Boozer has a better per than Lamarcus Aldridge. I don't believe for a second that Boozer is in Alrdidge's league as a player. I guess that's the joy of playing with a great player. Kind of the point I'm trying to make on James Harden. That said I do appreciate what LeBron did with that team in Cleveland. The sad part for me is I think he could have won it all with those guys and really wish he would have. That would have spoke more to me about how great he really is. Edit: also Kobe's best year is the 105th best year ever according to per. Come on, really? I just can't buy it.
  22. Doesn't make him any less great, but it does make the perception of him different. The mistake the meatballs make is trying to compare eras. Today's NBA is different than Michael's, and that was different than Bird's. I agree with you. Although I think MJ and bird were pretty much the same era. They played like 9 years together.
  23. Doesn't make him any less great, but it does make the perception of him different.
  24. D list actors? How many names out there are bigger than Brad Pitt? The scout had Al Brooks. I'd say that settles this.
  25. The WWE/NBA doesn't really want the small teams to beat Hulk Hogan. They just want fans to believe they do enough to buy the PayPerView.
