    I completely agree, UK. There's just no reason for it, considering it's a meaningless game, the rosters are expanded (meaning there are plenty of pitchers available), Carpenter has already pitched alot this year, and the Cards had a 3-run lead heading into the 7th. I was hoping that Larussa would have an expanation in the PD this morning, but I don't see anything. Maybe you and I are the only ones questioning it, but there's no justification, in my opinion. well he hasn't been hurt this year and you guys did so well without him last year I could see why Tony would overextend him in a meaningless game. Carp should not throw more than 80 pitches from now until the playoffs, a cy young isn't worth a chance at the world series and if he gets hurt you're toast.

    What happened?? Dusty Baker was hired. Our promising team was destroyed. Pretty much in that order.

    He like us is a fan and as such he knows we suck. Thus he doesn't get too fired up. At least thats how I am this year as opposed to last year when we had a lot of talent.

    Dusty Baker is an anchor dragging us down. Why would you ever pitch to Pena when you could face Harrang? Oh but then I guess the one run we got in the 9th would have tied it.

    three weeks left. 5.5 if we can get it to 3 by this time next week with 2 to go I will start to get excited. Although the way we have played Cinn will put us out of our misery now.

    good to see that people consider my posting to 'coming out of the woodwork'...i'm pretty sure that's not a compliment. :D but yes, it is ridiculous that hill hasn't seen any action. but there's no way baker's going to take rusch out of the rotation after his start in st. louis. much like neifi's hot month, that start will buy rusch a minimum of ten more starts. Yet Murton's hot stretch got him sent down to Iowa earlier this year. I love rooting for a team with Dusty Baker running it.

    Poor Weis better win it all now this year or those crazy ND folks will be calling for his head in a year or so like Willingham. He would have been better off just playing them close, now the expectations are going to be through the roof.

    I'm pretty sure the Cubs go to Kaufmann in '06. The two teams played in Wrigley last time. I remember because the Cubs had to come from behind to win 2 of the games. Of course I think the Royals still had Dye and Damon on that team. oh man i hope it is in kc, but are we sure we play them for sure? you don't play everyteam.

    what a great year this has been. Playing the Cardinals in September and we have 13 pages of game thread. Good news is though Dusty will soon be renewed. Happy days. COBS WIN!!!

    well it would be nice to have a winning record at busch this year. I'm not normally one to agree with you (not you in paticular, but on this point), but I think it would be a positive thing, because the media loves to bring up the Cubs record over the last few years at Busch all the time. If this was a game against the NL West or East, I am totally for using Cedeno and Murton in every lineup. Also, let Murton face a rightie every now and then. I was gonna say what did I do. No I see what you are saying. But, the one saving grace from this season for me is to tell my brother, a cards fan, yeah we sucked it's a good thing we played you guys as much as we did.

    well it would be nice to have a winning record at busch this year. I agree that you want the team to win, but it would be great to see at least one rookie enter the games at this point of the season. yeah I agree it would be nice to see any young kid get a shot.
