  1. and another player makes an unreal catch against the cubs
  2. cardinals move morris back so he misses prior. some things never change.
  3. With the team being 4 games -.500 in September after the sweep, who would believe? The 1969 Mets believed. The 1935 CUBS believed. The 1914 Braves believed. Do you ? Those teams believed. This team doesn't. Half of the players don't even look like they're trying. Is that really your assessment.... that half the players aren't trying ?? OK. I was exaggerating there, but some of the players haven't looked like they've been trying. Well.... then you should stop exagerating and start believing, no? I find it hard to believe in a team that has lost 8 in a row twice, lost 7 in a row once, is currently 5 games below .500 with 27 games to play, and is 7.5 games back in the Wild Card. It's never hard to believe. It doesn't cost you anything.
  4. what? he has a BB already...on four pitches. he hasn't made 4+ outs either. plus one time pujols kd three times against us. they better get rid of him.
  5. They should keep there name and win the NIT thus declaring it the new National Championship.... oh wait that is what Steve Alford would do if he ever had the talent to win the NIT that is. Kinda like when he called his team the big ten champions when they won the big ten tournament. HA take the whoever it was who was from iowa city wanting to name us the tar heels.
  6. Grand slam in a pinch hit appearance, I assume it's his first major league at bat. doesn't count. cardinals don't have a book on him yet. in addition, prince fielder's walk off two run homer today didn't count either. Yeah dude now the Marlins' fan( I typed what I meant) will be excited expecting this kid to play. The Dude has to be told this kid will be found out soon enough and Lenny Harris will be playing right field
  7. sadly the team wont be good enough to take advantage of the year and a half window woody's arm provides.
  8. Maybe if he could keep the ball in the park against a minor league league line up. Seriously Mark, is there ever a reason with that line up to pitch to Kent?
  9. Piniella's career winning % pre-Tampa is lower than Dusty's career winning %. That's slightly scewed by the fact that Piniella has been managing quite a bit longer - six seasons longer, actually. My point (again) is that Piniella wins in the playoffs, where Dusty has had his most embarassing moments. I do not think it is fair to compare the two simply on the basis that they both prefer vets over younder guys. You never hear Piniella making excuses for his guys like "its hot", or "we had to play a lot of games in a row w/out a day off". He does not suffer that nonsense. or scewed by the fact that Baker managed Barry Lamar Bonds before Chicago.
  10. well, planet, at the time you stated this, I would have agreed with you. Who knew? The Cardinals are currently on pace to break the team record (192 in 1974) for double plays turned in a season (over 200). Yeah big shock Eckstein and Grudz both became better players once they donned the Red.
  11. While I like your line of thinking, trade Lee while he has overvalue. I don't think that the Twins will block Mornuea.
  12. HA! I will believe that when I see it. Neifi had three hits last night, dude. He saved us. I really hate what that man (Dusty) has done to our team in two years.
  13. The Cubs have to make a decision on JVB as he'd be a likely rule 5 casualty if not protected. The problem is who do you cut to make room for him? As far as Hendry and Baker are concerned the candidates would be 1. Another minor league like Leicester, Rohlicek or Koronka or 2. a position player like Hollandsworth, Burnitz, Macias or Perez. I don't see #2 happening. I don't believe Hendry wants to give up any of those other pitchers for free. It's possible one of those guys could be traded for a PTBNL to clear a roster space. That's assuming someone would want any of them. If number 2 doesn't happen then we need to clean house of this group if we ever want to be competitive again.
  14. who cares. he is a bum. oh and the home plate ump just missed another call.
  15. I like that they arent the Cardinals. Z is cool too.
  16. He has a plan dude, Bonds just doesn't show up for his team anymore.
  17. you think Corey even watched how Francoeur laid down a bunt last inning? I mean Jeff isn't a leadoff guy, but he used his speed to his advantage to ignite an inning.
  18. Well he was at 122 when the at-bat started. The time to complain was then, not after the count was 2-2 and there were 5 foul balls. He shoulda been taken out before the Giles AB. I didn't see anything before the Furcal AB, but he was taxed there too. He shouldn't have started the inning. He is a 6 inning pitcher anymore.
  19. I don't think any other manager in the world could have not made the playoffs last year with the team we had. I think many "challeneged" individuals could have decided to try someone other than Hawkins at closer and that alone probably gets you in. Real Cubs fans deserve better than what the organization gives us every year.
  20. take the outs they give you, this is why the Braves and Cardinals and Astros always have and always will be better than us. Good teams get the runner (Lee) in last inning. They also get Langerhaus out at first when he gives himself up.
  21. Yeah DUsty made Mark go to second on the bunt. If the idiot would have just got the out at first he gets out of that inning no harm done.
  22. Derek should have had that one.
