  1. What is it bad to do that after your other great player got hurt in the same game? Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but the game was well in hand for IU throughout the later stages of the 2nd half. Sampson lacks class, he is gonna run it up on MSU. 6 days till the conference is rid of that clown.

  3. Michigan State isn't even close to being top 10 worthy. See the loss to Penn State a couple of weeks ago. I don't understand there problem, they have the talent. There coach is good, I guess just a bad blend.
  4. Good
  5. Dream on. Deron is 8-1 in his career vs. Chris. The 1 was his rookie year when he was sitting on the bench. Certainly career record is the best way to judge how good a player is. Yeah I prefer stats you know we play the games to have better stats. Ask Karl Malone he scored more points than Jordan and rebounded more. He must be better. All Deron Williams does is win. He also has this part of his game that Chris Paul has yet to hear of, defense. Fool.
  6. In a tie game in extra innings in the National League Championship series, no less. Fools, one of those guys is the all time pinch hit king.
  7. Taylor Battle drove the lane into traffic and as he went up, the ball went flying. it was tough to say from the replay if he lost the ball on his own or if he got fouled, but at real speed, the call HAD to be made. Which begs the question why the hell would trent be in there on defense? He couldn't guard me.

  9. Hey the best point guard, not named Steve Nash, just won the skills competition.
  10. Reminds me of Mike Davis not wanting to recruit Mike Conley Jr in order to try and get Oden....and even further, he accidentally sent a recruiting letter addressed to another kid to the Conley household. And Rodney Carney saying he would have played for IU instead of Memphis if IU had ever recruited him. :banghead: That other kid was Sherron Collins.
  11. Awesome Pruitt got the last shot for us again. Good call Bruce. Keep giving that underachiever the ball with the game on the line. Good things always happen. Did anyone see the game? Did Meahem really foul?
  12. I just read that Robbie Hummel was from Champaign and both parents went to Illinois and played sports. He apparently wanted to go to Illinois, but Weber didn't think he was a Big Ten level player. Where are my matches?
  13. me too
  14. I wonder if that has anything to do with our best player being suspended for the year and losing out on a top rated recruit at the last second? Huh? I'm sure that does. And that all happened under Bruce's watch. Yep, that makes sense. Bruce should have not let those kids out of the dorms at all. God if only he were more like Self and never had offcourt player issues. God if only we didn't have a moon bar in Champaign. . . oh wait. That stuff happens anywhere. We have rebounded with our recruiting. Weber has not driven us into the ground. We had a bad year. It happens. Who said it's fair? It's not fair to be labeled a bad coach when you win 71% of your games but lose in a crapshoot tourney, but you're ok with that. Self did the right thing and got rid of the trouble makers, permanently. Giles, Giddens. Gone. Jamar might be a different story. I don't know enough about him, to be honest. But my first instinct is that he should've been gonzo cnsidering how effed up that mistake was. Those recruits have to actually make to campus, first. Well it doesn't look like we have to worry about Sampson stealing them anymore. Giles and Giddens both were repeat offenders were they not? Giddens stole from wal-mart while in high school. Can't remember if there was more. Giles was as dumb as a stone, and he was definitely a repeat offender. I think he got 3 strikes. Deserved only 2, imo. It's the nature of Jamar's mistake that makes me think he should be a "one strike, you're out" guy. I would agree, but the kid he did it to is still his best friend and biggest supporter. Also the recruit thing is pretty lame, We have had one kid commit and not make it to campus. Well 2 with Charlie V, but our coach left. That one made perfect sense. These are all Illinois kids, sans Griffey. They are all coming.
  15. I wonder if that has anything to do with our best player being suspended for the year and losing out on a top rated recruit at the last second? Huh? Heh...I certainly wouldn't call Jamar Smith Illinois' best player. At least if we're going by the same Jamar Smith that I saw for the first half of last season. You do know that Smith supposedly battled alcohol problems all year last year and physical injuries? I am talking the guy who shot about 45 percent from three his freshman year. He was unconscious his freshman year, but I attribute some of that to having Dee Brown and James Augustine giving him some very good looks every time he had the ball. There's no question that he has an awesome shot. Who knows, maybe Smith could have become Illinois' best player. But I still think that McCamey has a higher ceiling than Jamar does. Yes, but to expect McCamey as a freshman to be better than Smith as a junior is laughable. Also this would have been the first year Jamar would have played with a true point guard. I love Dee Brown, but if he were a true point guard he would still be in the NBA.

  20. Maybe the Lakers should offer up some shoes and a bunch of used basketballs. Or a little bit more than they gave up for Pau Gasol. I'd rather have Derek Fisher. Really? I would think Artest to you guys would make you very, very tough to beat out. Especially since Farmar is more than capable of running the team. he's talking about fisher over bibby Oh. About that I don't know. I haven't seen Bibby at all this year. I don't know what he has left.
  21. Recent? I thought we have sucked recently. You are grasping at straws. You have one great program and some decent ones. I like us to get more teams in the dance again than you guys again this year in our down year. When did I say that? The #1, 5, 13, 18, and 28 teams from Kenpom are big XII teams, btw. #3, 9, 17, 29 in sagarin Well I would assume you meant a terrible conference as in recently. Otherwise I don't know what would cause you to say Weber is ruining a program in a terrible conference. Or in your Big 12 world can you not have a bad year conference wise?

  23. Recent? I thought we have sucked recently. You are grasping at straws. You have one great program and some decent ones. I like us to get more teams in the dance again than you guys again this year in our down year. The Big Ten has the Nos. 7, 15, 16, 30 and 31 teams in Sagarin; Nos. 14, 15, 29, 30 and 36 kenpom. I don't think that's terrible at all. But, but, but the Big 12 has Kansas, Michael Beasley, and a bunch of decent teams.
  24. Self needs a FF to shut people up. It's that simple. (But then it will be NC choker talk.) It may not be fair, but that's the way it is, and he isn't the first coach to go through it. Dean, Lute, Donavan, and Roy were all labeled as chokers. It's just the way it works. Those guys, however, had the ability to coach their way out of a wet paper bag. Self, not so much. One of the worst in game coaches I've ever seen. And I'm an Illini fan who thought that when he was here. I harbor no ill will toward Kansas for taking him because, while in the short run Illinois may struggle, the players that do come here will get the most out of their talent as opposed to floundering in the hi-low under Self. And Illinois will be good again and in the tourney next year anyway. if he's bad, how come his teams are near the top in defensive and offensive efficiency? People who badmouth his coaching never have any concrete criticism other than his team lost XXX game. It's silly. I mean, you're sitting there talking about the hi-lo, and we don't even run the hi-lo as a primary offense. But Illini fans talk like that's all he does. Self is not a top-5 coach. I'll admit that. But he is one of the premier coaches in college hoops. You don't win as much as he does if you're not. And don't throw the talent thing out there, because he coached ORU out of the depths, and he won with mid-major talent at Tulsa, too. I've only seen one poorly coached team by Self, and that was the Bucknell/KU team. The big reason Self looks good is because his teams are more talented than about 90 percent of the teams they play. That's why his numbers will always be really pretty. However, when he plays one of those other teams, usually around the elite eight, he is going to be exposed. He is terrible at in game adjustments. I am still waiting for us to adjust and take away the three against Notre Dame. eh, I won't bother arguing it anymore. Your coach has been starting chet frazier over mccamey all year. I think know who's better. Awesome response. At what point have I done anything but blast Weber this year? Especially when it comes to that decision. Although your coach starts Russell Robinson over a much more talented Sherron Collins. Oh and Weber has coached a team to the grandest stage of college basketball and built a program. Which one of those has the great Bill Self done again? Please say Tulsa. Big deal. Lots of mediocre coaches have "coached on the grandest stage." Probably just as many as have turned a NC contender into a bottom dweller in a terrible conference. And who have overseen a program where one player left another for dead. No, Self has never "built a program." He's never had to. Doesn't mean he couldn't. At least Self has a rationale for starting Robinson. (Team leader, better defender). ANd at least he tries to conform his offense to his players, unlike Bruce "I'm gonna run this guard oriented motion offense despite my guards' mediocrity" Weber. This argument is pointless, though. You're happy with Bruce and all his flaws. I'm happy with Self and his. Right I guess Weber saying that he starts Frazier because he is our leader and best defender is somehow different from Self doing it. But since Weber doesn't coach at Kansas that makes him foolish. You play your best. Neither of these two clowns get that. Also ask Jay Bilas about our terrible conference. 9 years in a row we have had a team in the final four. 9. Maybe the Big 12 should get a little more terrible. You realize that the Big 12 has less championships as a conference than IU does. Get the hell out of here with calling the Big 10 terrible. That might fly if you are the ACC or the Big East, but not when you are a fan of the pathetic Big 12. I agree with what saying; however, Bilas was wrong. In 2006, no Big Ten teams made the final four (Florida, UCLA, LSU, George Mason). Nor did the 2003 or 2004 Final Fours. I think Bilas meant to say the Big Ten has sent nine teams to the last nine Final Fours. Either way it is better than the Big 12 has done. The Big 10 is down compared to what it normally is, but it is still head and shoulders better than the Big 12.
