  1. uh, that basically dooms any chance kentucky had. really sucks. i don't remember a year in which so many crippling injuries occurred. on past teams, there were bench players who could step in and bear the load somewhat if a core player got hurt. this year, that's not the case. It could force him back for next year though. Might be good for the program in the long run.
  2. I hope you are wrong on the second part. Wisky went in and won at Texas, who might end up with a 1. They also swept IU. Just because they don't have any names, doesn't mean they aren't very good. If they win out they should be a 2. Wisconsin is the best of the lot, but the Big Ten is way down this year, non-conference RPI worse than the MVC, and there's been no "clear" best team. If Wisconsin had gone, say, 17-1 or 18-0 in the Big Ten, a 2 would have been a possibility, but the flaws in the other BT tourney teams (Indiana beat down by UConn, Purdue's bad early losses, Michigan State looking awful in conference) are going to end up reflecting on the quality of Wisconsin's team, IMO. If I had to seed 1-4 today, I'd probably go 1. Memphis, North Carolina, UCLA, Tennessee 2. Texas, Kansas, Louisville, Duke 3. Georgetown, Vandy, Xavier, Stanford 4. Connecticut, Wisconsin, Drake, Pick an Indiana Team/Marquette I personally am suprised that Butler isn't getting more love than they are. You are probably right about the Big Ten being down hurting Wisky, but I still think they will be a very tough out.
  3. They might have to win out to get that. Memphis UCLA Tenn UNC Duke Kansas Texas I think the last one comes down to them or Georgetown. Even then that is assuming Wisky or IU doesn't win out. Where's Xavier? I like them, but cannot see the committee giving a mid major higher than a 3 seed. Think back to the year that Gonzaga was ranked in the top ten, yet got a 4 seed. Seeing how they beat Indiana pretty easily at a neutral court, I really can't see Indiana getting a seed over them. Wisconsin did have that big OOC win against Texas, but they have a lower RPI and SOS than Xavier does. I like what Louisville has done recently, especially now that they're healthy. They are an extremely dangerous team. 8-4 against the top 50 is also very good. But Xavier is 6-1 against the top 50 and they really don't have any bad losses (0 losses outside of the top 80). As long as they don't falter down the stretch, they deserve a 2 seed. Again I am not arguing that they don't deserve a 2 seed, I am arguing they won't get one. It's going to be a crying shame if they don't get a 2 seed. Eh, either way they will still be someone that no one wants in their region. Drew Lavender alone makes them a nightmare.

  6. I just read Patrick Patterson is out for the year, stress fracture in ankle. That cannot help Kentucky's chances.

  8. lol, is this even considered basketball? It's basketball, just different than the pro game. After Alston crossed over and became afairly successful NBA player, they kind of earned more cred, imo. I think it has become what the globetrotters were, a nice alternative to structured basketball.
  9. Before the Bennets I would have said Washington St. But now I would say Oregon St. Even though Bones went there.
  10. O'Neil handled it well though.

  12. I don't understand how they aren't in the top 10. Heck they might be top 5. They are going to be a very tough out in the tournament. Oh and Harrangody, I am sure I butchured that name, is awesome. 40 and 17 as a sophomore against David Padgett.
  13. What is he, like 16 here? I imagine from 16 to 30 most of us are going to put on some pounds.
  14. I don't get why the conference doesn't try to fix it up. They have to know how poor a job the officials do.
  15. God it is hard to vote for a guy whose best career moment is beating our team and costing us a world series with his go ahead double. I sitll want to write in Chance. Did you just cite Derrek Lee as the reason the Cubs did not win the World Series in '03? Obviously he wasn't the reason. He just had the big hit. When he looks back at the greatest moment in his career, odds are he would name that play. It is just weird then, imo, to name him the best cubs first basemen ever. Especially when he isn't Frank Chance.
  16. I think Texas has to win out all the way to the finals of the Big 12 tourney to lock a #1 seed. While that is very possible I think it is more likely they will finish with a #2 seed. Plus I don't want to play UCLA again ;-). I agree. Really, the KSU game and the conf tourney semis are the only possible tripping points, though. UT's resume is pretty good. UT's resume is very good. They have wins over Tennessee, UCLA and Kansas. Off the top of my head, no one can match that. The computers like them, as they should, and they're leading the Big 12. I do, however, think that Texas is a better team on paper than on the court. Texas has only struggled with the Big Ten this year.

  18. Where is Frank Chance?
  19. For fun they should do a reality show were Billy Beane is forced to have Dusty Baker be his manager for a season. The interviews throughout would be priceless.
  20. Fraught with irony, this emoticon is. Na we don't have to cry anymore. Our point was proven.
  21. If I were a Reds fan I would probably be having to hope that Bruce doesn't make the bigs this year. The last thing they need is having him around Baker and his don't clog the bases mentality. As a Cubs fan I hope Jay is working side by side with Dusty as we speak.
  22. It's been said many time, many ways, but JR Smith is NOT a John Paxson player. He didn't even want JR Smith in the Chandler deal, but had to take him due to contracts having to match. All things being equal, Smith would still be in New Orleans (or possibly waived by now). With that said, Shannon Brown is every bit as talented as JR Smith, all Shannon is needing is the opportunity. I like Shannon Brown, but J.R. Smith went out and got 43 points last night. Does Shannon have that many points in his career yet? Obviously Smith has some value as a guy who can score. Has Shannon Brown have the opportunity to play, yet? Just because Cleveland's coach is an idiot, doesn't mean Brown can't play. I still take Brown over Smith any day. No he hasn't. But, when he hasn't been able to beat out some of the guys Cleveland were using it doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

  24. I took 3 things away from that game. 1. Rose is better than I thought. Which is saying a lot cause I have always really liked him. 2. Tennessee is really good. Prince and Tyler Smith are matchup nightmares. 3. Priscilla Pressley is dead and being carried around like Bernie in Weekend at Bernies.
  25. Well he has been in trouble twice this year before this came out. Once for fighting with a teammate, once for missing a game for familiy reasons, then this. I would assume it is just three strikes he is gone and nothing major. But, since no one has came out and said the main reason yet, it is just an assumption. Wasnt the reason for missing a game due to a family members death out of state, but he was still disciplined? Or am I not remembering that correctly. Yeah it was, but i think the coach was mad about the way Jereme handled it. I think it was he didn't let him know why, he just said I am not going to be there.
