  1. i don't know why you'd take mayo over him, other than the obvious reason. they're like the same player, flip a coin. i'll take Gordon. More ability to play the point, he is bigger, has a better handle, is a better defender, and I think he has shown the ability to make others around him better. I have yet to really see EJ demonstrate that. he's not bigger and he's not a better defender, and he doesn't have a better handle. they're pretty equal across the board. furthermore, you're the one promoting DJ White as the best player in the big ten, but he's not better because of gordon? He absolutely has a better handle than Gordon. I doubt you find any perimeter draft pick this year that has a worse handle than Gordon. He is obviously is bigger than Gordon too. .

He isn't bigger? And yes he has a better handle, he is a true combo guard. Gordon is at his best attacking the basket, but that is different from a gret handle, imo. I think White's rebounding is what made him MVP. So yes I guess I should credit EJ for shooting a low percentage allowing D.J. to get better. I also think White should get the nod for leading IU through a difficult season. So I guess Gordon should get thanked for making D.J. better for having Sampson call him 24/7.
  3. I think he is a slam dunk pick over him.

  5. Huh, Gordon still makes the same mistakes he did in high school and really didn't show any improvement under Sampson and has been passed on many people's draft boards by Rose and Bayliss. Huh. Huh, Sampson lasted all of a year and a half, but really it was just illini fans bitching about nothing, huh. how about gordon's the best player in the big ten and deserves to be first team and poy? as much as i hate the kid, i cannot player hate. I never said any big ten guys were better. I guess one could argue White was the MVP. But, still Gordon had a good year, but did he improve his draft standing or get any better this past year? I still think he did himself a disservice playing for Sampson. i think he improved his draft standing by proving that he's the best player, as a freshman, in a major conference. jmo. He was a top 2 lock before this season started. Now Rose and Beasley for sure go before him and Bayliss probably does. I think he and O.J. Mayo hurt their draft prospects by playing college ball. I would probably take Mayo before him as well.

  7. I got Wisky in this thing. Bo owns the rest of the Big Ten.

  9. Yes, this is what happened and UCLA was given the game. You can't draw up what the defender did any better than how he did it. I couldn't care less who won the game, but Stanford got robbed. "He drew contact when he went to the basket," Hill said. "It was still on him to make the free throws." That's Lawrence Hill, the guy the foul was called on. ETA: I don't know that I would have called the foul in that situation but that doesn't mean it isn't a foul. I don't care what the kid says. He doesn't have a great idea of exactly what happened a bang-bang play in that kind of situation, plus he may have just been taking the high road. Look at the replay. It clearly wasn't a foul. He was completely vertical and it was clear as day (especially on the x mo replay) that he got 100% ball. The foul call was on the body contact, not the block shot which I agree was 100% clean. http://telemachus.smugmug.com/gallery/4433994_5ZiTX#262889690_6QaFu-A-LB On the first replay, you can clearly see the ref doing the hip check indicating that it was a body contact foul, not a foul on the block. The x-mo and the third replay show that while the shot was blocked cleanly, Hill created body contact. I don't know how you could say Hill made "minimal, if any contact." That said, I wouldn't have called it (then again I have no clue what the hell Pac-10 refs are doing half the time). Oh it isn't exclusive to Pac 10 refs. The whole college game needs to do something about the officiating. There have been numerous horrible calls all year. The call during the Georgetown Villanova game that won the game for GU should have cost someone their job.
  10. Yeah. I am sure he will do well with whatever he chooses to do. I feel for the kid, he was an NBA player, but injuries sapped a lot of that from him. Injuries don't have anything to do with intelligence, though. He was easily one of the most frustrating players I've ever witnessed. That being said, I'm glad he didn't get booed. That would've been the definition of classless. 12:30 on a Friday afternoon and I've never been more interested in a Drake-Indiana State game. God I love March. Lol. I am not going to argue with you on the frustrating part, but I think he graduated with a 4.0 Yeah he's definitely a smart kid. Apparently that kind of intelligence didn't translate to knowing how to stay out of foul trouble by not committing an abundance of dumb fouls. Or maybe his injuries to his groin really sapped his lateral quickness causing him to have to use his hands more on defense. Naw that can't be it. He is just too dumb to play defense.
  11. Should be. I guess it depends on need for each team. But he is very, very good. I hink he will have an adjustment period though because of his lack of bulk. I also like your boy, Westbrook. He already has NBA size for the point guard.
  12. Has he improved or has he just got more minutes and developed a rep, getting him more foul calls? He handles the ball a lot better than he did in college. But I think every other facet of his game has either regressed, or stayed the same. He averaged 35.6 minutes his rookie year which is also his career average so he hasn't gotten that many more minutes. He's added as many as 4.6 PPG more than his rookie year, dropped his TO/G by as much as 0.4 and has an increased his FG% by as much as .62%. In all 3 categories, he's still better this season than he was his rookie year. His APG has dropped steadily (but not too drastically) from his rookie year on. I wish I could get his PER numbers from before this season. Well his assists should go down this year. We have no inside scorer. Gordon has slumped. Deng has missed a lot of time. I guess the main thing that hurts Hinrich is the other guys in the draft being so good. Sucks we got the pick we did that year. He's still having his worst year since his rookie year. Of course so are Gordon and Deng. In terms of that draft, it did suck picking that low. At least it wasn't a case of Roy or Aldrige vs. Thomas. Hinrich was the best pick that year (ignoring trading possibilites, of course). At that time yeah. But I sure would rather have David West or Josh Howard now.

  17. That offers me no consolation. Just makes me sadder. Trailing at the half 5 times all year. Just a painful year of basketball. Thankfully it will be over soon enough. Please let next year bet better. I don't see how it won't be given, in Smith and Legion; they'll be adding players who have important basketball skills, like the ability to successfully shoot the ball. Do you realize that if the Illini shot a rather pedestrian 70% from the free throw line they'd be around 20-8 (took the 54 additional points and came up with 8 more wins) and quite possibly NCAA bound? Yeah I saw a stat that before last night we have been outscored by 4 points all year. Just a really bad year. I was glad Randle made it back though. He deserves his senior night. He was willing to give up a year of eligibility during our tourny run a few years ago to help in only a couple of games, thankfully cooler heads prevailed and he didn't have to do that. Wish he would have been healthier during his time in Champaign.
  18. Did you thank the referees for that horrible call with 2 seconds left to send it to overtime? I'm guessing you thought the ref called the foul on the (clean) block? Probably isn't called that often with the game on the line but it was a foul on Hill. Come on Raisin. If you watched the game you know that wasn't a foul. I am picking you guys to win it all in my bracket this year, I think you are the best team in America. But, you got that game gift wrapped for you last night.

  21. Mike Patrick's the definition of the word "tool." Gerald Henderson falls to the floor while holding the ball. He then calls for a timeout. Patrick praises him for a heady play. Elmore says that had to be a travel. Patrick says maybe it wasnt. Elmore says you can't fall with the ball. Patrick says maybe he called timout before he fell. Unreal. Just making excuses up as they go. I've always liked Len Elmore, he's a very solid commentator. I agree, he gives the proper respect to the big name teams without going overboard. Plus he can give a different prospective. One of my favorite lines he had was when Patrick was talking aout historically how great Carolina and Duke have been and how they dominate that conference. He then added no offense. Len was like oh no problem, they didn't dominate Maryland when I was there. I also like Stephen Bardo and Hubert Davis. They both are knowledgeable and seem to be very excited for the game they are doing.
  22. Wait what? I hadn't heard this.

  24. According to Mike Patrick Coach K saved Christmas for the troops in Iraq. He then went on to say that makes Coach K a super combination of Jesus, Santa Claus, Coach K, and Optimus Prime. God bless Mike Patrick.
