I'm really surprised they allowed him to publish the 200k figure. Rumors are one thing, but putting it in a major newspaper is quite another. Yep, I've never seen that one before. Think what you might of the Sun-Times (utter tripe), but it's still a big name paper outright accusing a school of cheating (and with a specific number!) Is it possible the UK deck of cards collapses on Cal before FIU's does on Isiah? Even if they prove it, I don't see the spineless NCAA wont dropping the hammer on one of the bluebloods. Cal will leave for the NBA, rumors will follow, and it will all quietly be done away with. I think Cal's getting too cocky. He's smart enough to not be paying the players directly, but an exact # leaking out sounds like bad news to me. Cal hasn't exactly been loved by his peers over the past 15 years, and him pulling in nothing but top 10 kids is gonna start opening some mouths. If he comes down due to outrage from fellow coaches, the NCAA is going to have to do something drastic. He needs to be careful. He's not just beating out the Illinois and Notre Dame's for these guys, he's taking them from K and Roy. It'll be interesting to see what happens when those type guys start to publicly bitch about him.

I have no idea how the Pirates got those two prospects for Octavio Dotel. Hendry always says that he wants both teams to win the trade. I doubt he pushed like a guy who held all of the cards. Did he feel remorse for the Aramis and DLee trades or something? The DLee trade at the time was pretty fair. Choi was still a top prospect and Lee was a salary dump. Aramis, yeah you got me on that one.

I hate that Lilly is a lot better than Dotel, yet they got back the better prospect. Hendry needs to quit trying to make sure both teams win a trade.

Lambo already has two drug-related suspensions under his belt. One more and he's out. I did not realize drugs of abuse had the same penalty structure as PEDs. Nevermind. I didn't realize Lambo had those offenses on his baseball record either. I suppose its a gamble then He also was in trouble in high school for using the kind bud. I think like the Brewers pitcher, he might not be worth the gamble.

Oh I agree, I just think they might not risk it as they might not want the extra first round picks. They cost money also.

Two months of Lilly and a pretty decent chance at a first round & sandwich pick. If they offer arbitration. Lilly isn't Derrek Lee making way over his market value. He's going to get offered arbitration because he will most assuredly get multiple years at at least what he's making this year. No, but aren't the Dodgers really strapped for cash?

This. I dunno, DeWitt is only 24 and coming off an injury last season, right? Couldn't he develop a bit of pop (10 HR's a year or so) and be a solid starting 2B with an .800 OPS for 3 or 4 years? I would think he would have a better chance to hit homers in Wrigley than Dodger Stadium. How much, I am not sure.

I don't really expect a ton for a month and a half of Ted Lilly. Sorry, but I just don't. I just hope we look for a minor leaguer.

It only costs them 6 million to keep him next season. Shouldn't everyone not named Castro and maybe Pence be available off of that roster? Sure, in theory. But for the cost to them next year, they'd be hard pressed this offseason to sign someone who would be as productive for as cheap. Yes, they're not going to win the division next year, but they don't want to set records on futility. If the Yankees offered Montero+Joba, I'm sure they'd take it, but why would someone overpay that much? Granted I don't know much about the prospects in the 2012? draft, but I would think if I was gonna be bad I'd go for horrible bad. Granted their m.o. isn't to try and build from within, so who knows what they will do. Plus Brett Myers is a horrible, reguardless of what he does as a pitcher.

Why the hell wouldn't the Astros trade Myers too? What good does keeping him around do them?
