  1. Soto is dealing with an injury, and the season is over. The more Koyie Hill, the better at this point. I would like to see more of Wellington Castillo. Koyie Hill isn't a big leaguer. I wish our franchise would realize that.
  2. Koyie Hill has to have some sweet pictures of Jim and Lou.
  3. I think there's something to that. The biggest tantrum was still the litte exhibition that Carpenter put on the night before.
  4. I'm guessing that's a terribly misguided rip on Cano. Yankee Stadium - .315 .374 .553 .927 "Away" Stadium - .346 .402 .573 .975 He's pretty good. I'm aware, it was a joke. I do think his value is a bit askew though as he hits in a hitters park and in the best lineup in the world.
  5. Not as livid as I'll be if we trade Wells for anything less than Evan Longoria. I get that you like Randy Wells and that we shouldn't discount what he has done, but there are a lot of guys I would be for trading him for. Here's the company that Wells keeps, as a 3+ win starter who has more than 3 years left til free agency: David Price Tommy Hanson Ricky Romero Having 2 great seasons as a SP, his complete lack of injury history, his relatively fresh arm from converting from catcher, his sinker/ground ball heavy tendencies, his low walk rate, and most importantly, his FOUR years til he gets his payday make him an extremely valuable commodity. Trading such a commodity just to have the right to pay someone like Adrian Gonzalez 25 million dollars is a really poor idea, never mind adding in a good bit more value. That said, I'm not diametrically opposed to paying big in players to get top talent. The Cubs problem is not having enough great, and because of the scarcity of great, they may have to pay more than is ideal to get it. But giving up top MLB talent like Wells just undermines the purpose. I'd rather they do something like overwhelm the Twins with prospects for Morneau or the Mariners for Felix or the Marlins for Johnson or the Indians for Choo or I think you get the idea. I agree with you, just think for the right hitter I would move him. The one thing we have done well is develop pitchers and it would be nice to add more young hitters. But yeah, as you've stated Wells is really good and we shouldn't be giving him away.
  6. I still think Suppan has been decent. He's not what he once was, though. Now that we have Westbrook, Suppan probably will be out of the rotation, as long as Hawksworth continues to do well. I hated losing Ludwick, though. Probably didn't matter if the Brewers kept Suppan or not, since the Brewers team ERA (4.94) is higher than Suppan's ERA with the Cardinals (4.75). Opposing batters are hitting .333 .395 .537 .932 against Suppan. If his pitching line were a batter's line, here is where that batter would rank among all MLB players. BA - 5th OBP - 10th SLG - 16th OPS - 12th That's not decent. He turns opposing batters into Robinson Cano. Wait, he's Yankee Stadium?

  8. IG's a real glass half-full kind of guy. It's not that somebody has to win, but somebody's definitely going to lose. Yep, this was a no lose scenario. Although out of the two, I'd prefer it to be the Cardinals. Their fans have proven to be super intelligent with their equating their team to the Hulk. But, I still enjoy Dusty eating a bag of Macias.
  9. Lost in all this is the teabagging the Cards put on the Reds. Suck on that Dusty.
  10. The biggest showdowns between Dusty Baker teams and the Cardinals were the '02 playoffs. (Dusty won), the '03 stretch run (Dusty won), and now this year. Maybe LaRussa should stop being such a hotheaded prick and his team would stop following suit The Cardinals are going to win the division because Brandon Phillips made them angry?? They're not the Hulk This is all kinds of awesome.
  11. Carpenter is a punk. Him showing up Brendan Ryan the other night was a joke.
  12. I asked this earlier and no one really responded. I think he might get a look at least.
  13. I really hope Koyie Hill isn't with us next year.
  14. What is Carpenter thinking? Can you imagine him getting hurt in a fight?
  15. If he is still throwing in the 90's and isn't crazy enough to ask for a huge contract, he's gonna get another shot.
  16. No he isnt and its not even close Theriot had a weak arm. Catsros is just out of control. Castro has also had some trouble flipping the ball to Baker today. Everyone wants to annoint Castro as the next greta thing, but his defense is terrible Unreal. You're gonna need to try harder.
  17. Aaron Miles with a huge rbi for th cardinals. Did he have any rbis for us?
  18. I have a hard time believing that Roy Williams and Jim Boeheim are going behind the scenes to some reporter from the sun-times as sources. But someone from their programs, that I could get behind. I'm sure they could have had one of their assistants do it. Face it, the coaches who are playing by the rules have to hate what Calipari is doing.
  19. I don't hate him, he's a fan of his team. I just don't get why he hates us. We've been awful for about 50 years really, give or take a season or six. Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to hate the Cardinals?
  20. in the tourney they always do here? I'm not sure. As far as I know it's just a single game, but the details aren't released yet. Sweet, I hope its not part of it. That way I get to see that game and 4 other good teams.
  21. Is this kid a possible top 50 guy?
  22. in the tourney they always do here?
  23. This will be shocking when we don't score, shocking.
  24. Brandon Rush and Darrell Arthur say so through their interpreters. I bet he's cleared though.
