    I call BS on that. Look, I live in St. Louis and don't find that remotely hard to believe. Between the blue hairs and the rednecks, there are so many "sheep" in Cardinal nation (yeah, just puked in my mouth a little there) that it's not remotely surprising that somebody would try to make that argument. Not to mention there's really just a lot of dumb people out there, and I'm not just talking about Cards fans. I was just calling BS because if the person is enough of a baseball fan to know who Starlin Castro is I can't imagine how they'd actually believe that. But on the other hand, a lot of baseball fans are stupid. There's Cardinal fans that think that Jon Jay has made Colby Rasmus expendable and that Rasmus for 2 months of Edwin Jackson and Matt Thornton is a good deal. I think it's a great idea. You should pry throw in Shelby Miller to make sure you get Jackson. How else are you gonna win the awesome NL Central this year?

    How old are you? Sosa too long ago? childhood - sandberg/maddux teenage - Sosa Adult - Aramis (IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRIOR, DUSTY, YOU [expletive]) About the same as me. I caught a bit of Sosa as a twenty year old though.

    If we sign Pujols or Fielder, absolutely. Why wouldn't we think we could. 84 games will probably win the division this year.

    Why? Do we have someone in mind who is gonna take his spot? Please don't say Tyler Colvin, he's still worse than Alfonso. Does it matter for the rest of this season? And Brett Jackson! It matters if we want to compete next year. I'm assuming we prolly turn over a lot of our outfield after this year. Jackson prolly takes one of those sopts, but who else are we gonna bring in to be decent? Keep in mind we are still gonna be paying Soriano next year as well.

    And once in a generation pitchers fail often enough that taking the sure thing college bat was still the better choice. Mark Prior didn't fail. He was broken.

I see your point about Tex over Prior, but I mean Prior I believe had put up some historical numbers in college, and correct me if I'm wrong, was billed as a once in a generation pitcher. But I completely agree with what jersey said about not drafting him if the org. has no idea what protecting young arms means. But then again, Teixeira might have gotten a crash course in being an aggressive hitter if we had drafted him. Mark Prior was legit. He dominated the National League. Then Dusty broke him. We absolutely made the right pick. We just had an idiot running the team. That said had we won the World Series in '03 it would have been worth it.

    Better coaching is about all they should attempt. My concern is that it's going to be a focus as to what kind of FA they will sign, much like their faulty quests to get "more left-handed" and "more speed" and, ironically, "guys who can catch the ball." If Hendry is still around you can bet we will have something stupid that we chase all offseason. I wonder if Jim gets we lost that game because of the three walks?

    What sound reasoning. According to that Castro should have sucked since Patterson, Pie etc didn't pan out. Trout is legit. He and Harper are on an entirely different level. Plus he Forgot to mention Kendry Morales and Howie Kendrick. Plus Jered Weaver. Their prospects are no more apt to flame out then anyone else's.

    Wow, I can't believe they didn't wait until after the Future's Game. Good for Szczur's playing time though I would think.
