  1. Thankfully we have advanced stats that say otherwise. But, LeBron's close. I admit I don't know a lot about advanced basketball stats, but do they take into account the ways that the league has changed since Jordan played? IE: Rule changes, expansion, dominant teams in the West, etc? What expansion since Jordan played? It measures on pace of the game versus peers. It cannot account properly for defense though. But, in this case, both were very good defenders.

  3. Like I said earlier, even if his physical skills don't improve, he'll be a better player simply by improving his decision making. And really, you don't think a 22 year old can even slightly improve his jump shot over the next 4-5 years? C'mon. I'm of the belief that your shooting can only improve so much. That's the one skill that I just don't think you can say, "I'll improve this." I know it's fun to point to Jason Kidd and say he did, but it's one guy and it didn't happen until all other parts of his game had eroded to where it was all he could do. I'm a Bulls fan. I hope Derrick can get a lot better, but I also think he played at an all time level for point guards and am not sure he can improve a lot on the year he just had. And I didn't realize that his(Rose) 23.5 per would be good for dead last on MJs career total if you don't count the 17 games he played in 94 after baseball and if you are like me and pretend the Washington experience didn't happen. Damn Jordan was otherworldly.
  4. most 22 year olds with nba talent are definitely not trying to lead their team to the final four. That's not what he said. It also isn't relevant to my overall point, which is that Rose will get better. I just don't see where. He's not suddenly going to become a great jump shooter if he didn't after spending the last two offseasons working on that. I guess maybe he will start to get more calls as a result of his stature.
  5. You don't remember 86? when Magic was so bad down the stretch of the Finals that he was questioned when the Celtics beat them? Even Magic had this. Sorry it was 84.
  6. Come on now. I'm not trying to hate. He had an amazing season. And great point guards that are so atheletic can peak very early. Ask Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury. Rose is in a different galaxy compared to those guys. Superstars, which Francis and Marbury are not, do not peak at 22. There are plenty of point guards that play very well into their 30s. Nash and Kidd are examples. But have no fear, Rose is in his prime for 7 more years or so. And he will get better every year. I hope so. I'd like another title and I don't see any of my other teams doing it.
  7. Come on now. I'm not trying to hate. He had an amazing season. And great point guards that are so atheletic can peak very early. Ask Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury. Why would I do that? They have nothing in common with Rose. Eh maybe I'm crazy but Francis reminds me a lot of DRose.

  9. Gonna be a tough hurdle to get over though. The Heat are scary and should get better when they can add mid level guys. The Heat are certainly scary going forward. Are they as scary as an improved, more poised Rose with a better supporting cast? I don't know. Unlike you guys I'm not as sold on Rose improving a lot going forward. I just don't see a lot of room to get better. Jason Kidd is a 40% 3-point shooter. Anything can happen. But that came so late in his career. Rose, in my opinion, won't age as well as so much of his skills are based on jumping and speed. There is a chance that we just saw the best year Derrick will ever have.

  11. You didn't like this season for the Bulls, you really don't wanna get hooked to this train.
  12. Wade is nowhere near a top 10 all-time player. according to per he's 6th.

  14. Hey give it to Lebron he's gonna get his. He only had to run and play with one of the top ten players of all time and kill basketball in his hometown to do it. GO MAVS
  15. If Miami starts to shoot like they should soon, Dallas is gonna win the finals.
  16. I'm sure they see what's going on with the other bluebloods right now and have to wonder why they got in trouble.
  17. Where the hell is he gonna play for us? SS. Move Castro over to 2B. While I like this thinking. I'm sure Jim is already in love with Darwin Barney.

  19. This is why you're a demagogue when it comes to IU. IU has had one instance of rules violations in the modern era. ONE. Even then, it was a minor violation (the NCAA agreed with this) involving phone calls. You spin this as if IU has some long history of rules violations when, in fact, the opposite is actually true. I wish every day that IU could go back and not hire Sampson (I wished it the day of the hire too). But we're not talking about some SEC school that has a long history of rules violation. We're talking about a school that generally prided itself on doing things the right way, made one gigantic mistake, and paid its penance. IU reverted to form when it drained the swamp, not when it filled it. You also were very good for a long time. As soon as that went away you hired a cheater and looked the other way. You still aren't very good, so you can probably see why many of us think you wouldn't be above cheating again to become very good. Unfortunately, being good went away after 1994. Sampson was not hired until 2006. You had decent teams after that, but yeah not elite good.

  21. All I am saying is the place hired Sampson when everyone knew he was a cheater. Now after having 3 straight awful season, it wouldn't suprise me at all if they would decide to take shortcuts to be good. Again. Edit: Didn't realize you turned over your entire department.
  22. That didn't happen you are being a demagogue.
  23. You're right, I didn't think Sampson would make too many phone calls again. However, the rest of your post is patently false. Most IU fans, including I think all on this board, derided the Sampson hire at the time. Next, IU acted based on allegations, not penalties -- they waited longer than I wanted them to, but they imploded a promising season before any penalties. Finally, that is the only time in the modern era that IU has been penalized at all in basketball -- there is no trend here. A lot of IU fans were ok with Sampson even after the phone calls came out. Too say otherwise is either being foolish or lying.
  24. Kelvin Sampson is a good hire, I know he's learned his lesson and won't do that stuff again. Kelvin just made a few phone calls nothing to see here. You guys never think it's a problem until you are getting penalized. I imagine this will be no different.
