  1. I sure as [expletive] did. Masoli at Ole Miss was a game changer in the SEC. There are some powers that be that didn't want that. This is garbage. This is a completely arbitrary ruling on their part because he met every requirement of the waiver process which is routinely rubber-stamped by the NCAA. Masoli's waiver situation was in no way different than Greg Paulus or something like that. The NCAA's arbitrary power is ridiculous and unfair. If the appeal is denied, I hope he sues them.
  2. some major studs on this list: Worst Stolen Base Percentage, All-Time (Minimum 200 attempts) Lou Gehrig ... 50.2% (102-for-203) Babe Ruth ... 51.3% (123-for-240) Greg Gagne ... 52.9% (108-for-204) Charlie Jamieson ... 54.4% (131-for-241) Pete Rose ... 57.1% (198-for-347)
  3. If Castro were to win a batting title, he'd be the youngest to ever do so. Al Kaline is the youngest at 20 years, 9 months and 6 days. Cobb was the record holder before him at 20 years, 9 months and 18 days. Castro would be 20 years, 6 months, 10 days.
  4. awesome http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0821/life_e_photo06_800.jpg
  5. Walter Johnson was from West of the Mississippi....although he's one of the only guys from that era that I know about. Oh, and Wahoo Sam Crawford too.
  6. awesome. I use that word as often as possible. It needs a resurgence in popular usage.
  7. Bruce Ismay did just that, but he's more akin to Hendry But I digress Actually I think Hendry would be more like Thomas Andrews
  8. Excellent point, Tim. Personally I think we should have the first player-manager since Pete Rose and let Zambrano run the team.
  9. You should go to advanced edit and change your thread title to get rid of the question mark: http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5483775
  10. trade A-Ram, lose the rest of our games, draft Anthony Rendon, have him skip the minors and install him at third at the start of next season.... \:D/ \:D/
  11. I agree. He's still a superstar.
  12. Surprised that Marmol's slider wasn't in the top 3.
  13. I agree, although I'm not sure I was "ranting". Just a general "you should put your best nine on the field" type of statement.
  14. He's very good, but I still don't agree with your conspiracy theory that they were benching him for an "inferior player" last year. That guy would be Carlos Gonzalez. yeah that was when Gonzo wasn't doing so hot. well, in that case frantic raving over the situation was warranted how was anybody supposed to know he would become a great player if he wasn't already good??? heh. First two months of the season last year, Cargo was only hitting .223 with 1 HR, 5 RBI and a .661 OPS. In that same span this year he was at .309, 7 HR, 33 RBI with .842 OPS.
  15. He's very good, but I still don't agree with your conspiracy theory that they were benching him for an "inferior player" last year. That guy would be Carlos Gonzalez. yeah that was when Gonzo wasn't doing so hot. He's very clearly a superstar in the making. An outfield of Smith, Fowler, and Gonzalez would be pretty badass for the Rockies. Hawpe is making too much for what he is bringing to the field at the moment. I think they've been trying to dump him for a while now.
  16. because if the hypothetical hunchbacked letter is facing the way in which you are coming "S-S-I..." then it is correct, the letter has a "humpback".
  17. Neither can Mississippi Actually we can....although the only reason why is they teach us a little ditty when you are in kindergarten here: "M-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-humpback-humpback-I."
  18. http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_sports_ncaaf_experts__38/ept_sports_ncaaf_experts-248799191-1281640128.jpg?ymArdmDDFK5okXIr http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Terrell-Brown-may-be-the-largest-football-player;_ylt=At68nzfdKXQahgF7Mjm2QyjynYl4?urn=ncaaf-262065 Ridiculous.
  19. against his father-in-law... http://www.sbnation.com/2010/8/12/1618908/francisco-rodriguez-krod-altercation-arrested-citi-field-father-law-physical-police-custody-mets
  20. Well...... I, for one, care. As do I. Same here. I mean, I don't know if "care" is the right word, but I love baseball, this is my team and I want to watch and I want them to win. Well I guess I'm the same way because they are on my TV right now.
  21. Fred reminds me of the engineers on the Titanic who were furiously trying to keep the power going right up until the damn thing actually went under the waves. Does anyone really still care about this Cubs team at this point? I hate this season...
