I think a lot of what it is, is Bloggers sending info into Yahoo Sports and having them connect the dots. Yahoo also isn't in bed with the NCAA like ESPN is with their billions of dollars of tv deals. yeah and what does Y! have to lose. in the last 5+ years, i don't think i've used Y! for anything but fantasy sports and CFB investigative reports. I find it real convenient for checking scores without having to go to ESPN

I think Cliff Lee is going to be a mild disappointment and the Phillies will still be very good.

Wings have been below average the last 10. There really is no excuse except maybe complacency. I understand losing to the Sharks who are good and hot, but blowing a 3 goal lead to Phoenix and only scoring one against Anaheim is rather poor at this point of the season. I still feel rather comfortable that they will win the division since the Hawks have won 8 in a row while the Wings have lost 5 of 7 and the Hawks are still 6 behind.

Honestly, even though they would have to pay a lot of his contract, Zito does have trade value. Why cut him when they could probably pick up a useful player if they would be willing to pay a large part of Zito's contract?

the entire OT/SO is for the fans. The only way that many teams would except adding OT/SO to begin with is if they still got the point for the regulation tie. Personally I would rather go back to just being a tie at the end of regulation with each team getting a point and give the team that wins a game 3 points. The problem with the old system was that once a game got below 4 minutes or so and was tied neither team was going to do anything that might cost them a point. If the incentive for winning the game was 3 points, I think that would make the end of tied games very exciting. I would like to see a study done to see how teams that get higher point totals from OT/SO wins and OTL do in the Stanley Cup playoffs. My guess is that they probably underachieve in the playoffs, but have no basis for this guess.

I can't hate on Leon. He was my favorite player as a kid. When Mark Grace "replaced" him (or so I saw it as a kid), I stopped watching the Cubs for a while. He had himself a very good career, but he was our Buckner. Its kind of surprising how Bill Buckners error is so legendary, but Durhams, which was just as crucial, despite being in the NLCS instead of the series is not. Everyone talks about goats, black cats, and foul balls, but Durhams error seems to squeak through the cracks. As does Alex Gonzalez True. Gonzalez squeaks by because of Bartman, but Durham didnt have a Bartman. Dont get me wrong, Im not one of the blame Bartman people, just stating that thats the reason why Gonz gets forgotten. That and he kind of sucked to begin with, as opposed to Durham who was pretty good. If you blame Durham for the error then the press wouldnt have been able to give Steve Garvey all the credit for winning.

5 years, $29 million Seems a bit high, no? I think its high. Byfugliens contract may have caused the price for good but not great dmen to really go up.

I think the best thing that can happen for the Hawks is to win 8 out of 10. Seems like most of the other teams in the WC have had that sort of run except the Hawks.

the Hawks would have to pass Detroit to get to the 3rd seed. I think they could easily hop up to the 4th seed though.

I know it is not a great draft class coming up this season, but I am still not sure that this is a good move for Philly. They are in a tight cap situation and as Truffle has already said could probably use a goalie.

lmao ETA: LMAO at the beating volcub is taking here, too I have to give VolCub credit, he is taking an unpopular stance on an issue and sticking to his guns. Of course if he was a fan of a school who did not do this kind of thing, my guess is he would not be of the same opinion.

The Hawks will make the playoffs. I don't think Seabrook should be untouchable, but I cannot imagine a trade with a team like the Oilers that would benefit the Hawks and still fit into the Cap.

that +/- is not a great stat for judging a players performance. I would say that watching the Hawks this year I would say that Keith, Seabrook and Hjalmarsson are not playing as well as they did last year.

when I looked a week or so ago it looked like Michigan was low because of the number of recruits not so much the quality. At the time MSU was ranked higher but it was because they had like 8 more commits. Michigans commits were ranked quite a bit higher though.
