I try not to be a Wings fan that comes off as anti Hawks. I also really dont have a great rooting interest in this series, so I hope this doesn't come off as being a troll. If they keep playing the way they did last night the Canucks will win the series and the ice will probably tilt their way more and more as the series progresses. I absolutely agree that John Scott is not the answer, but they do need to do a much better job of not just hitting, but also finishing those checks. If they don't, this series will tilt Vancouver's way. Also, as a fan of another WC team, I do hope that the Hawks make it much more physically challenging the rest of the series. Even though the Hawks were better with their puck possession the last 2 periods, they never really stepped up the checking.

I am glad the Hawks made the playoffs. I think the series between the Hawks/Canucks will be great. Playing 3 straight years in the playoffs are a perfect recipe for some entertaining hockey.

Adelkader is one of the cleanest hitters in the NHL. His hit was a retaliation from a similar hit he received earlier...just saying Every game the Wings play the Hawks I always see at least one cheap shot from him. I'm glad you think he's an angel though. I am not going to have a fan on fan pissing contest on who is dirtier...I could easily point out some tactics that certain Blackhawks do that I would consider dirty. Adelkader's game is based on hitting. I am sure that not all of them are clean as clean gets, but he usually has his stick and elbows down.

Wings are locked into third...so may be playing less then regular lineup. However, they have really laid and egg down the stretch, they may want to finish with a strong game. My guess they will spread the minutes around and play less then really hard

I dont remember who owes me a nickle!!!!! Congrats on beating out a team with their 3rd string QB in most of the year. Wait, wrong rivalry. Congrats on beating out a team struggling with major injuries most of the year :) I believe that's the congrats we got from Red Wings fans last year. Then we won the Cup. its not that serious to me. I have a feeling the Wings will be upset in the 1st round this year, which is a lot more serious to me.

I think it is going to be real fun. Tampa is a great team to watch and the Hawks will probably skate with them. Should be some real fun up and down the ice action. Just the type of game that the NHL should get on National TV. Oh well I am sure the Rangers/Flyers will be dull...oops I mean exciting

I am optimistic about the Cubs this season also. But I usually have this feeling on opening day. -
I should look this up before I just say this, but it sure seemed like Toews and Hossa played some serious minutes last night while the 4th line guys didnt get much time.

I missed the first 10 minutes...what happened? I am sure you have seen the highlight...he made a stupid hit and got what he deserved. I think the Hawks deserved to win but the officiating in this game was frustrating. I think the only thing they got right was the Bertuzzi call.

I dont think the Wings will have 2nd seed sown up. They however are fighting a large amount of injury issues right now and may be more concerned about getting healthy then making sure they have home ice over San Jose. Also to be honest as a Wings fan I would rather play the Hawks then the Stars. No disrespect to the Hawks, but the Stars are just the type of team that I hate to play.

I do not understand the whole anti Saber crowd. I understand not really understanding all of the advanced stats and such, but why does this crowd think they have to prove that Sabermetrics is wrong?

Okay, would it be less dramatic to just say it is sad that there are people who do not give a crap about Declan Sullivan except that they can use his death to slam ND:)

so this is kind of late and not directed at anyone here in particular, but maybe an overall impression of the issue that I am getting from a lot of the people who are trashing ND. First let me say that I am not defending ND and find their handling of the Declan Sullivan situation to be very poor. However, what I find alarming is that there at times seems to be a tone of gloating from ND haters. It almost comes off that they are benefiting from the death of this young man to be able to take shots at ND. NO doubt that there should be questions asked. No doubt ND should be embarrassed about how they have handled this. But just to throw stones because its a chance to take a jab at ND is also disrespecting this young mans life.
