  1. Kids keep score just fine without a scoreboard. So not keeping score is pretending something didn't happen that did happen. Keep score, part of coaching is how to react to the score. I would just suggest that in younger kids you minimize the importance of winning, so the disappointment of losing isn't so great.
  2. I can't stand any of them other than Edmonds, but Shannon is the worst by a wide margin. He's not only terrible calling the game, his mush mouthed mispronunciations are absolutely awful as well. Shannon is the one I've heard the least, so I'll take your word for it. Shannon is a more drunk Ron Santo...who is allowed to do play by play for some bizarre reason. Even with John Ronney(sp) sitting there.
  3. austin kearns though on the other hand, living deity kent mercker played for the reds so not all bad? You guys left out the Alpha and the Omega: http://www.thefamouspeople.com/profiles/images/joe-morgan-3.jpg I don't associate the reasons I dislike Joe Morgan with the Reds. He was one of my favorite non Cub players when he played.
  4. I was at the Illinois game last night. It wasn't as great of an atmosphere as it was in some big games in the past. But it was way better than anything I have been to in the last few years. I hope Illinois fans are okay with a borderline bowl team this year and still support them. That would do wonders in helping the new staff recruit.
  5. I know the games don't matter, but the sac bunting going on recently has,me concerned
  6. Houston seems to be playing loose and aggressive. OU is playing like they are scared to lose. Not aggressive.
  7. Vesey-Toews-Panik/Hossa Panarin-Amnisimov-Kane I'd have to look at the roster again to put together a 3rd line Hockey for Dummies question here, bit how strict are the sides for a winger? Hossa and Panik are both listed at RW, but most line projections I've seen currently gave them both in the top line. As far as the bottom two lines, I think Kruger safely fits into the third C role. After that, it seems like just throwing a bunch of guys out there and seeing what sticks. Depends on the players and the system. It is more flexible than it used to be. Modern forwards usually "can" play all 3. But depending on the system may be more comfortable in one spot over another. Playing center is a much higher skill level. Traditionally RW was more of an offensive position, LW was more defensively responsible
  8. well it's being played in 2020 since they are coming back to Japan there's plenty of actually good non-MLB players who can participate like Tim Tebow maybe the Adam Laroche all-stars can play.
  9. this is exactly what happened to me...and I couldn't just turn it off in the sixth because the Cubs were rallying. I got the sense on the radio that Pat wasn't very enthusiastic about it.
  10. And Schiano reported it to Bradley too ayeeeeeeeee I know Schiano is at OSU....doesn't Bradley coach somewhere? Puts those programs in a tough spot.
  11. I think he develops ok, Malcolm Hill is miles beyond what he was, for example. I think the X and Os lead a lot to be desired though. you can be the greatest x and o guy in the world, it does you no good if you don't have a point guard
  12. To their credit most Cardinal fans I know have been very humble and easily admit the Cubs are a better team, even after the Cards swept the Cubs.
  13. I probably watched more Florida games last yr than the previous 3 yrs combined, so I am not going to disagree too much, but his recent stats seem rather steady.
  14. Ladd, plz. even if the Hawks need a D, Campbell is like 3000 years old I think Campbell would be great for the Hawks on a 2 yr deal. He is still a good second pairing dman. Plus I think he is at the point of his career where winning might allow the Hawks to get him at a discount.
  15. and they have him doing play by play. Then Rooney just makes sense of his incoherent mess
  16. I think the Warriors would really struggle against the 80s Celtics or Lakers. Guarding a true post player would be a foreign experience:)
  17. It wasn't a bad series, but wasn't great either IMO. I will miss hockey though. the finals were okay. Just seems like no one outside of Pitt and the bay area cared. And the bay area is probably way more focused on the Warriors. Didn't even feel like there was a lot of Penguins hate like there used to be.
  18. Season seemed to end with a whisper.
  19. Similar to the Frazier trade. It makes the White Sox better at a position of weakness, which is good. But I really don't think the Sox truly understand why they are not that good. This trade does nothing to address the Sox two biggest issues. Low OBP and bad defense.
  20. I like it better now that the isolation game is becoming out dated.
  21. At what point do you get really mad if your a Southern Cal fan? NCAA really hammered them for what appears to be close to what Ole Miss did. I think the whole system is effed up. The NCAAs wheel of sanctions is laughable. I think they would be better off just tossing out the rulebook. It would make them more credible
  22. Those seem like reasonable destinations if they make clear the necessary cap space. Toronto has plenty of room. If Detroit can trade Datsyuk's contract to a team looking to get to the cap floor, they should also. I also think Detroit fans are getting weary of the status quo. So I could see it happening. I wouldn't bet on it though.
  23. They have a lot of cap issues. These playoffs have shown that life after Stamkos won't be a disaster. They have a little bit of leverage since there aren't a lot of good destinations that can pay him the type of contract that he likely wants - similar to Toews/ Kane. For example, A team like Winnipeg could afford him but would he really want to sign there? it seems as though it's going to be Toronto who can pay more, or Tampa who is a current contender.
  24. Yeah I forget he is similar age and career path as Kane and Toews. I am not positive his best hockey is behind him, but I think his game isn't quite what it was several yrs ago. I like Stamkos and wouldn't mind the Wings figuring out how to afford him. My example was more from the Tampa point of view. It might make sense for them to low ball him
