  1. Yeah, that's just not true. Unless he's just taking a sample size of, oh, the last inning or so.
  2. Most of the complaining is completely hyperbolic Chicken Little crap that occasionally gets old, based on expectations that have gone through the stratosphere. And yet nobody thinks they are being irrational about it. It's practically trolling. Unless you think the majority of the board wasn't aware that a 13-5 loss to the Nationals isn't good.
  3. Gaudin gets the Orr swinging, and the inning is over.
  4. Jesus can also hit a fastball, apparently.
  5. I think Rafael Belliard just homered or something.
  6. Maybe they're expecting a 90's Bulls team, the kind of team that loses 10 games in 6 months.
  7. Because the Cubs are a perennial winner with a storied history of World Series titles, and a loss to the Nationals at the end of August permanently tarnishes any possibility of a happy ending this season may have.
  8. I can't help but giggle a bit after an IBB to Willie Harris, after he hit a go-ahead grand slam.
  9. On a day where the wind is blowing straight out, a 4-run lead is nothing. For all the times the Cubs have come back from 2-3-4 run deficits early in the game, one would think that there would be occasions where the reverse would happen. Last I checked, though, the wind is still blowing out, and the Cubs are still the highest scoring team in the NL. Does that guarantee victory? Absolutely not. But it's not absurd. The wind blowing out has nothing to do with walking the bases loaded. No, that was Marquis and Cotts. The wind blowing out did help that HR ball, though.

  11. Without a doubt. Yes, how dare people expect to win a game against the worst team in baseball after leading 4-0. Ridiculous. How dare people expect Cub pitching to be perfect every time out, even against the worst team in baseball.
  12. Quick, name a better option vs. a lefty off the bench without burning the backup catcher.
  13. There's no reason we should lose even one game to these morons. 2 out of 3 in this series is not ok. Even the Nationals, the worst team in baseball, are winning more than one of every 3 games. Even the Cubs, the best team in baseball, are losing more than one of every 3 games. Expectations right now are unfairly high.
  14. Some people's expectations are waaaaaaaaay too high for this team right now, to the point where they are completely incapable of enjoying anything but a 10-0 blowout.
  15. hence, the WBC ETA: I mean World Baseball Classic, not Westboro Baptist Church Not sure I'd put it past the Westboro Baptist Church to jump on this cause. They could picket...I dunno, independent minor league games full of washed up ex-major leaguers?
  16. There are occasions when the first pitch thrown is a very hittable pitch. Agreed, thats why its weird to have such a low BABIP on first pitch hits. I'd wager a guess that this stretch is more of an anomalous blip than a trend. That they're still winning 80% of their games while being unlucky with BABIP and RISP just speaks to how good this team is, really.
  17. I'd go with most cost-efficient free-agent signing, sure. Certainly better than Soriano, Blanco, or pick-your-reliever.
  18. What's BABIP? I may have an idea but don't want to sound like an idiot. Which asking about it might make me sound like an idiot anyways. Batting average on balls in play. It generally mirror's a team's/player's line drive percentage plus a percentage.
  19. There are occasions when the first pitch thrown is a very hittable pitch.
